The Buddha said "All people want is to be understood and appreciated." Well, here is a hardware/building supply business where that is practiced by staff and management. They treat their employees well, sort of like a big, extended family, and in turn the employees treat the customers well. You feel like youre in a store owned by your cousin. There is an extensive electrical, tool, paint and hardware inventory. I managed to build a massive telescope with an 18" primary mirror using material that was 90% obtained from this store. And I can see 9.5 billion light years back to the quasar in ursa major. From a darned hardware store!! So maybe your needs are less demanding? Im sure you can find it at Goodman. And if youre a little uncertain, its refreshing to know the staff wont make you feel like an idiot. Theyre helpful and compassionate. Nice change froom most of the big box stores. Is it because they are union workers? Who knows? It works, though.

Ill go to ANY other hardware store when I can. Ive been reluctantly going to Goodman for thirty-seven years. The customer service is consistently abysmal. So unfriendly. They just dont care. The opposite of what a good hardware store should be. Brick-and-mortar retail is supposed to offer more, not less than ecommerce. Keep this up and youll be out of business when your baby-boomer clientele moves on. Id rather go to Jackson, Home Depot, Osh, or my favorite: Center Hardware. Yes, Id rather drive an hour all the way to the south side of SF to go to my favorite hardware store on Potrero Hill than go here.

Incredible staff. Just today I returned some items that werent in the system any longer and they were able to accept them without a problem because I shop there frequently and the items showed up under my customer number. Recently another staff person took 15 minutes to help me solve an irrigation dilemma. I could go on, but Ill spare you. No wonder the parking lot is always full.

Goodmans does a good job and diversification (hardware, power tools, wood, household products and plants). If they didnt, they would be out of business. They also have the advantage of providing an easy to get to place for the good people of Mill Valley so they dont have to drive all the way to San Rafael. Keeps the miles low on the BMW.

Pretty good location, with good discounts on certain days. Their selection is pretty good, but its pretty hit-and-miss with the staff. You kinda have to be lucky to get a good one to help you out. Usually plenty of parking though and a good garden center.

I have been a customer for many years. Over the last year, the customer services has declined to a point where I am inconveniencing them every time I ask for assistance. I am now driving to Home Depot for a better customer experience.

An old fashioned hardware store where the employees know about their products and they have an inventory of absolutely everything. It makes you long for the days before places like Home Depot which are the absolute opposite.

I went there today for alligator clips, an obscure electronic part. The staff took me to 3 choices immediately, and one was just right. Everyone was helpful and friendly and I go there first and have for ten years.
