If you havent been properly fitted for your bike, I highly recommended a custom fitting at Moment Bike shop in San Diego. Moment has consistantly done a great job maintaining my bike and assisting in upgrades as I inquired and were needed. As a road cyclist and commuter it became increasingly important to assure my back and body fit on the bike as well as possible, avoiding any likelihood in developing injuries now or later. After reading a few respectable cycing books on the importance of fit, I didnt want to be the person wasting all of that energy because of not being properly fitted or consistantly riding improperly, as was clearly illustrated in the book, describing the riders whose legs are bent away from the bike as they are pumping as hard as possible while exhausting their bodies for the ride ahead. Moments fit machine and the cyclists working their fit right down to the milimeter. They also include the fitting into the purchase of a new bike in the near future. Vince is very knowledgeable, as an avid cyclist and racer himself. He recommended some adjustments and a completely different size handlebars, something I wasnt expecting. Though I didnt feel any need initially for any major adjustments, my road bike and I are now seriously "fit perfectly for the ride". Riding is just much more smooth and there are moments at stops its obvious I start off far quicker . In traffic those initial starts are important in assuring safety and of course, so that road cyclists maintain a good reputation. We do want more of you enjoying the road cycing experience. Its fun, saves energy / money on gas, is fabulous for keeping the mind sharp and maintains health and a strong body like nothing else. See you out on the road and be smart with a proper fit with Moment Bicyle shop. Thanks again Moment!

This is for the Bike Rental aspect of the store. My rented bike worked fine and as expected, the service crew in the back-end was great, friendly and knowledgeable. I would have given them a five-star rating but for a small issue that left a bad taste in my mouth. I own a number of road and tri-bikes and I am an avid cyclist so when I realized I was going to be in San Diego when the Gran Fondo was taking place I decided to rent a bike and participate. I registered to rent a bike online and picked this shop because it happened to be close to my hotel. I didnt make a bike deal of it at the time because I had already been fitted for the bike and registered for the race but when I was about to leave I was asked to make a deposit for the bike in the amount of $1500!!! The bike was a Giant Contend SL with Shimano 105... even brand NEW it SELLS for less than that. I should make clear that they didnt do "credit card pre-approval" limiting my available credit balance, just an authorization to charge me if the bike was not returned. What bothered me was that it was never mentioned that I was going to have to leave a credit-authorization; and second, in all of the trips I have made and at which I rented a bike (here and abroad) I have never been asked to leave a deposit so large (even for bikes much more expensive than the one I rented). Again, great store and in a follow-up conversation I have been assured the deposit price was an honest mistake (it should have been less for the bike I rented) and that the website will more clearly reflect the credit guarantee for rented bicycles. All-in-all I had a good experience and I would rent from them again. PS: They may have already made the changes on the website and their rental procedures making my review less meaningful...

I had such a great shopping experience with Moment Cycle Sport, its hard to know where to start. Having heard and read a lot of good things about Moment, I deciding to stop by and take a look. Upon entering, I was greeted by a number of friendly employees eager and willing to help. After reviewing a few different brands and styles of bikes with Rachael, a Moment employee, I made the determination to go with a new Giant Mountain Bike. The next step was to jump on the laser guided fitting machine to take my exact measurements before ordering a bike. When it comes to bikes, the fit, is everything. They explained to me now that I was fitted, once the new bike came in, they would set it up tailor made to my dimensions and would be custom fitted before pickup. I was hell bent on waiting for the new 2015 line of Giant Mountain Bikes to be announced, so I did. One week later, I received a call from Rachael to let me know one 2015 Giant just became available and they placed it on hold for me if I wanted to purchase. I enthusiastically agreed and the bike was on its way. About a week later, I received the call. My bike was ready. I drove down to Moment, paid for my bike and a few highly recommended accessories (everything I needed, nothing I didnt). Jim, one of Moments mechanics, reviewed the ins and outs of my new bike in an easy to understand way. Needless to stay, it felt like the bike was built and designed for me. I discovered that the expense of the bike fit would be rolled into the cost of my new bike. What an awesome policy and a trouble free way to build/purchase the perfect bike. Words cannot describe what a great shopping experience I had at Moment. I will continue to shop at Moment Cycle Sport for all my future biking needs.

I was initially turned off to Moment for its bike fit first philosophy. After (ashamedly) trolling nearly every bike store in San Diego for my first ever road bike purchase, having signed up for the 545-mile AIDS/LifeCycle, I bought my new, used bike here in full confidence--because, ironically, I knew it fit me well and was expertly maintained! I continue to return to Moment for such things as new tires, socks, cartridges, great shorts, gearing tweaks. For everything, really. They have the best bike-centric, hand-picked selection of offerings Ive seen. I inherently trusted Rachels GURU fit to get me started on a bike that Im making my own (knees are now a non-issue on my passing hills and fast straightaways). Vincenzo has become my go to GIANT (Podium 1), patiently talking and fitting soft tissues and shoes until naps and chocolate milk would have overtaken the better of us. GRA-ZI-E! JT, who seems to oversee and hear EVERYTHING and organically step in at the right time, now feels like a friend. Vanessa personably talked me through tire changes and Shimano trim. I learn something essential every time I go. Moments mechanics are tops in training and turnaround. And, never have I spent more than 30 seconds unattended in this gorgeous, full-service shop. Thank you, all, for your incredible patience, attention, your passion for biking, and for keeping me on the road as happy as I can be in the saddle.

I went through the whole process of bike fitting and getting the correct measurements for choosing a proper fitting bike for me. From the beginning the process was easy although it is a time commitment to do a 2 + hour fitting then weigh the pros and cons of different bikes and get them to align with your body measurements. I personally really enjoy the data/analysis side of cycling so thats probably the reason my fit took so long, but JT (my bike fitter) was happy to answer any and all questions I had. I took the information from my fit, and used it to narrow down the bikes that I wanted/could afford/actually would be a good choice from a performance standpoint, then called JT to make sure he supported the decision. After I decided on the bike I paid over the phone so I could just walk in a pick it up and have the bike setup from the data that my fitting told us. All in all the process was smooth, I got a good deal on the bike I chose, and the service was great. My only downside from my purchase (which isnt the shops fault) is that after 180ish miles on the new bike the tires started de-laminating, and the bar tape disintegrated in my hands even before that. I knew they wouldnt last forever but I thought I would get through more than just a couple weeks on a brand new bike. This wasnt my first purchase from Moment, and for sure wont be the last!
