Ive only had positive experiences with the bike shop. They are honest with me (I am a bit of a bike mechanic myself) and have always stood behind their service. They mostly carry commuter bikes that cater to the on-campus students and some of the roadies, but are more than willing to talk about, e.g. steel frames and quirkier bike miscellany and will gladly order said parts for you at no extra cost. They tell me when buying online would be cheaper, how long I can hold out before buying new parts, and when I do require repairs they are expedient and thorough. A 10% discount from being a member of the UCSD bike-commuter "Pedal Club" makes this just about the only bike shop I go to. Very much worth it to support this shop rather than submit to the online faceless wholesale outlets.
