I think the reviews on this site are written by the owners. I brought two bikes to get tuned up. They charged $110 per bike. This included a new chain on one of the bikes but they also charged extra for a new tire. One of the bikes was dirty when I picked it up. The guy said it was "corrosion" and that you cant get it off. Then I rubbed my finger on it and it was clearly just dirt/grease that woudl come off. The first guy just gave me a rag to clean it myself, and told me you cant use wd-40 on carbon fiber. The other guy corrected him and they sprayed some wd-40 and, viola, it came right off. Why do I have to request that they do this after paying $110 for a "tune-up"? When I asked what they did in labor, they tried to make it sound complicated but really they described 5 minutes of labor -- "put a chain on, lubed the chains and adjusted the brakes." That was it. When I said, "I could have done that in 5 minutes myself," the employee copped an attitude, "Why didnt you then?" Uh, because I thought you were actually going to earn the money that you were charging. They did take $60 off the price, but still we paid $220 total for both bikes, even after the $60. Total parts were about $50 so they basically charged an extra $170 to put some wd-40 on the chains and adjust the brakes. Complete rip-off.

I recently decided to pull the trigger on a new FS bike and made the rounds to all of the local bike shops (and online.) If you a looking to buy a mountain bike in the San Diego area it is worth your time to visit with Doug and Mike at North of the Border. I wanted a couple of components that were not offered “stock” on the bikes I was looking at. I settled on a KHS SixFifty (6500) and Doug ordered it and had it ready for delivery (with the mods) in 48 hours! Awesome deal too! Really happy with the bike also; Anybody that is thinking about a 650b bike, check out the KHS bikes.

Mike has been wrenching my bikes for 3 years. Bought a new ALL CARBON Marin Mt Vision XM8, just a great bike. I am comfortable recommending my friends to NB Bikes. I tell them you cant go wrong with Doug & Mike. Their prices are fair, best in town in expertise, they have the nice stuff. If you want a bike to ride to the super market buy it from Cosco. If you want a Mountain bike, or any other high performing shredder go to North of the Border Bikes. ... Hitt

Love this shop. Ive had repairs elsewhere and have never been satisfied. At NB, the work has been just flawless. Ive even had them fix some "repairs" done elsewhere. Whenever I get my bike back from NB, it is like-new. They are not like a big chain shop, and I like that. Ive gotten a lot of good tips and advice. If you are looking for a smooth operator sales guy to talk to, you might want to go somewhere else.

Had my fork rebuilt as well as some other routine maintenance completed here a few weeks ago. The fork was like butter and all of the other work was done just as expected. Very reasonable charges and quick turnaround. Ill definitely be using them for any future repair needs.

NotB is an awesome shop. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and they do repairs RIGHT. They removed a seized BB for me, chased the threads, and installed a new one at a reasonable price. A couple years later at overhaul I found the threads were still in great shape.

Great Bike Shop! Doug at North of the Border was great. I had an issue with a warranty and they were very quick to get it take care of. The shop is also close to Rancho Penasquitos bike trails, so it’s a great place to stop for parts. Very happy with this shop.

The owner gives great service, hes involved in the local biking community and has a great shop. If you need your bike worked on, this is the place to go. The shop can get you any part that you need, for full downhill rigs, to cross country stuff.

The customer service is phenomenal! This might be the only mountain bike rental shop close to a sweet riding park in the San Diego area! Just make sure to call ahead for availability. Will definitely come again! I highly recommend.

These guys are die hards and really cool. Just a small shop that caters to real riders and newbys alike. Great service and a really chill atmosphere. If your looking for a great shop, this is it. Shop rides at 8am on Saturdays too.

Great place! Had a plastic on the trails, power line, kabol, the tunnel and the rest of the trials. Ask for Toby, hes there most of the time. He rides the trails often and gave us an amazing tour. Will most definitely go back.
