GREAT EXPERIENCE! My boyfriend and I went to check out their bikes as he is an avid cyclist and has been helping me to nurture my interest, as well. We were greeted by Tim McDonnell - a very kind, considerate, knowledgeable, non-pushy sales person. He chatted with my boyfriend and they eventually had me try out a couple of bikes to see which one suited me best. Tim was very thorough... making sure that I was fitted to the bikes and that everything was where it was supposed to be. When I had questions, he didnt just answer them... he EXPLAINED his answers so that I understood not just what he was saying, but WHY. When we decided on a bike, he waited for our "verbal cues" before he suggested any accessories. He also made sure that we were aware of the discounts in place at the time and which products would give us the best quality for the least amount of money. He was cognizant of our general budget and was very helpful in helping us find exactly what we needed within our price range. Tim was very helpful and knowledgeable, and I feel that he was instrumental in helping us to get the best deal on high-quality items, including the bike, for the best price. There were no high-pressure tactics and no bull$h!t smoke and mirrors to persuade or dissuade us from going in any particular direction... he LISTENED, and he did a great job of it with a high degree of courtesy and professionalism. As a matter of fact, everyone that had a hand in our experience that day was courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful. I highly recommend this place. Dont let others first and only impressions affect you... give this place a chance and see for yourself. Youre not obligated to buy from them, just check them out. =)

Dishonest conduct all around, I recommend staying away. I took my bike in for a tune-up. During initial diagnostics they intentionally tampered with the shifters to try and convince me that they are completely broken (which I know wasnt the case as I had been using them). Their repair shop later raised other issues, inconsistent with initial diagnostics, which all together would have cost a small fortune. In all cases they proclaimed that the current equipment was "beyond repair". They quoted the "necessary" parts to me at in excess of double the normal retail. I declined their over-priced service with the exception of the tune-up, which at that point I could no longer decline. In the end they ended up charging me for additional repair which I did not agree to. The bike now works, just as it did before (clearly it wasnt "unsalvageable"). The tune-up was completed well, from what I can tell. Overall I do not question their mechanics abilities, but if you dont want to get ripped off I would find another shop.

....what a miserable experience. I ride a Trek 1.5 Triple, and I thought I could walk in to BicycleWarehouse and find my wife a descent bike so we could hit some routes together. No one helped us when we went in the store (5PM, right after work); once wer finally cornered someone, they had no clue what bikes I was talking about; the deals on the website did not match what they had in the store, and it kind of smelled nasty in there. It took every ounce of good within me to not knock over a few rows of bikes on the way out. Took a quick drive over to my Trek shop; we were greeted when we entered, someone said they would be with us in 5 minutes (which they were), and even though the bike we decided on was $200.00 more than I wanted to spend, I know I can rely on their dedicated mechanics should something go wrong with the bike. Seriously... go ANYWHERE else but here if you want to keep your sanity. -Chris

I was hesitant to patronize the Bicycle Warehouse due to some bad reviews I had read. But I decided to give them a try. They were friendly and helpful, and had the kind of bike I wanted on sale in my price range. They did a little suggestive selling of accessories ("buy them today and get 20% off"), but absolutely not high pressure or obnoxious. Real knowledgeable cyclists with lots of money to spend may be disappointed at lack of expertise or whatever. But for me, someone who just enjoys cycling for exercise and transportation, buying here was a good experience, and the bike has been working great since I bought it two months ago.

I have used the bike repair department in this store with my new bike (bought online) and my girlfriends bike. In my girlfriends case they fixed the bike without any extra parts after the previous two stores said she needed a new bottom bracket. For my bike, they fixed the rear derailleur cage, did a safety check on my assembly and installed a couple of other things. It took 15 minutes and the guy didnt want any money - just said come back to the store to buy anything i needed. The first shop i went to said it would cost $60. They also did what was needed at that time rather than telling me to leave the bike with them. Great guys.

My girlfriend bought a mountain bike for $850 for Christmas. A few months later we decided we needed a beach cruiser instead. The bike had been used twice and was in brand new condition with all receipts and paperwork. I told them I would take a haircut on the return to make it worth their while. The person on the floor said he could not do anything about it and referred me to the GM. The GM would not even return my numerous phone calls or emails. I understand it is their choice to not have a customer oriented return policy, but not returning phone calls and emails is the mark of an organization that lacks integrity.

I have had it with these guys. First I bought a new Santa Cruz in 2003 and the front forks leaked. Took it in on warranty. A week later I picked it up and the next day they still leaked. I took it apart myself and there was a missing O-ring on one fork. Go figure. Six months ago I took in my wheels to have them re-spoked. A month later I was riding in a parking lot and both of the tires went flat. WTH!! I checked it out and both inner tubes were installed backwards, which caused the valve stems to split open and leak.

This place is about as grimey as a bike shop can get. First and foremost their mechanics are just plain bad (over an 1 hour to replace a tube and flat), if you bring a bike in that you didnt buy there they try to tell you that you need every single part replaced. And to top it off - they sell their merchandise for above retail!!!! Go in and check it out - a pair of gloves will have a manufacturer sticker for $20, and these scam artist stick the bicycle warehouse $25 sticker on top of it.

Purchased three bikes there in less than a years time. Really please with all three bikes. I have Mountain , Road, and a folding bike now. Mountain and Road bikes were excellent value for price. Both were Giant, I checked others and they could not match it for a similar price. Great service, great folks, attractive and well stocked stores. Big thanks to Marcus, he is at the Kearny store, go see him if you are interested in bikes or gear. Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.
