Basically, the saying goes, "the customer is always right". This shops mechanic takes a special spin on this and says "the customer is always lying." My friend runs a motorcycle repair shop in Washington and was disgusted with this guys behavior. He said anyone who puts "Chain and sprockets are worn" on a high mileage bike basicly just said nothing. Of course they are worn. What kind of shop adjusts a chain that has uneven wear and does not inform the customer that the chain will losen on its own because it needs to be replaced? Then when the customer returns and asks about a refund for the adjustment as he is willing to pay you $346 for parts and labor, insults and denies service because of personal offense? Full story The first time I went here I had roughly $300 worth of service done. Included in the service was chain lube and adjustment. A $25 charge. After my service I was informed that many of my parts were worn, including my chain and sprockets. About a week later my chain was lose enough to chatter again. Frustrated with this, but otherwise happy with the Shop, I adjusted it myself. About 4 months went by with the chain chattering before I inspected it closer. The chain had tight and lose spots indicating the chain was unevenly worn. I called National City Motorcycle and order new parts, paid a deposit and scheduled an appointment. When I showed up I asked about a discount for having come in for an inspection and chain adjustment and not being told that the chain and sprockets were so bad. When I asked, the man I was dealing with quickly became angry, and told me to talk to the people inside. I asked the associates at the front desk and they told me I was being reasonable and I may be able to get the $25 off. Keep in mind that I just didnt want to feel like the shop performed a poor inspection and only fixed what I asked for instead of properly inspecting my newly purchased high mileage bike. When the associate that became angry, Rob, was talk to by the front desk clerk he returned in a hostile state. He came back with another employee and claimed that I was lying. He said that they wouldnt have ordered the parts if they hadnt inspected the bike and determined that it was in need of replacement. When in fact I ordered the parts on my own. He claimed that I came in and was told my chain was "falling off" and in desperate need of replacement. He claimed I had just come in and I called him out on his blind accusation. He told me that he would not install the parts and stormed off to try and prove I was lying and trying to scam him. After speaking to the front desk and the other mechanic, they realized they had made a mistake. And told me that because of the time that had passed since the inspection and adjustment they wouldnt be able to give me the discount, which is understandable and I was fine with paying the initial price quote to begin with. However as I was getting ready to leave, Rob returned with my receipt from the visit I had 4 month ago, called me a liar to my face said that hes sick of people trying to scam him, and pointed to the writing on the receipt which said "...Chain and sprockets are worn..." he then proceded to claim that it said "very" worn. I asked for my $100 deposit for the parts back and I will never give them my business again.

I came in Saturday morning to have new tires installed. I sat down in the waiting area and remembered I needed a new brake lever, the guy in the office was super helpful and found exactly what I needed and gave it to the tech to install. I then remembered I needed a banjo switch and again had to stop him from what he was doing, but he found what I needed and took it to the tech. It took a few hours, which was to be expected with the volume of bikes they had But I was updated multiple times in the status so no complaints. When they were done they told me they cleaned and lubed my chain and added some missing fairing bolts for free. They also didnt charge me for installation of the lever or banjo switch. Ive been to a lot of mechanics in a lot of different cities and its rare to find guys that when you leave you know you wouldnt hesistate to come back. These guys are great all around from front to back and they definitely have my business as long as Im in SD.

Great shop, low rates and all around good people. I recently moved to San Francisco, but I was living in San Diego for two years and used National City Motorcycle many times. Everyone working there knows motorcycles inside and out and is actually willing to help you out (unlike other shops). Every time I used NCM the job was done ON TIME and ON BUDGET. One time the rear tire popped on my Harley at 5:00PM. I was able to catch the service department (who looked like they were exhausted when I arrived) right before they were heading home. Needless to say, they REALLY saved me by sticking around after-hours and changing the tire. What other shop would have done that? I dont know ANY. Not a single one. Needless to say, the only complaint I have is that I dont have access to their services in San Francisco.

I needed my tires changed on my Harley and at my shop, our machine is only set up for car/truck tires. I already had the tires off the bike but being a mechanic, its hard for me to trust other people with something that I cant do. Anyways, I looked online for a couple of shops nearby and saw the good reviews of this place, so I decided to give them shot. A gentleman named Rob ended up helping me out and was VERY helpful along with all the other staff. Rob did my tires along with changing a inner tube that needed to be replaced up front and had everything done in a very timely manner. Thumbs up to Rob and his staff.

I can tell you so many good thigs about this place, but I dont want to write such as extensive review. This is my #1shop. This place and people are so legit! I bought an used motorcycle and with that came some repairs to be done, I asked around for pricing and NCM are very competitive. I have made them my motorcycle shop. They know what theyre doing and from my personal experience they are not looking to get your money by adding/suggesting services that you dont need, they will tell you their findings, but wont push to get them fixed. My #motorcycle shop.

These guys demounted and mounted my tires on my bike so I could send the rims to be chromed. Fantastic service, great attitudes and respectable prices over the Harley dealer. Brought the CBR back for a new back tire and again fantastic on the spot service. Leaps and bounds above southbay powersports - cant tell you how bad southbay is - especially in the service department - mechanics are clueless. Thanks again National City for the work you did on my two bikes!

Went in to get new tires installed. The mechanics are all very friendly and knowledgable. Loved that they gave me a quick lesson on bike maintenance (This is my first bike but I have some mechanical knowledge). I felt they were very honest; they showed/told me WHY things needed to be done etc. Bike maintenance isnt cheap and I feel like NCM keeps it pretty fair without nickel and diming you. They are def my new motorcycle service shop of choice!
