This is a terrible automotive shop. I wish I had seen these reviews before I brought my car in for service. I went in for a simple tire rotation but when I left my steering wheel was pulling me all over the place. I brought the car back to have the shop correct the problem. Before the attendant even looked at the car, he started explaining to me that the tires were worn unevenly and that was why the steering had gone haywire after they rotated the tires. I suggested he look at the car. When he looked at the car, he realized that the tires actually had pretty even wear. His next suggestion was that there might be a separation in one of the tires that had gotten rotated to the front but that he would have to look at it first. I made an appointment to come back later to have the car looked at by a mechanic. When I came back later, the person who was at the desk told me that they had sent most of the mechanics home for the night and they had their hands full so it would be quite some time before they could get to my car. I waited for a few hours at the mall until they were done with the car. When I went back, they said they fixed it. They hadnt. I came back a few days later to have them look again. This time they told me that a wheel was bent and that the car had possible suspension problems. They rotated the wheel to the back of the car but, by their own admission, this did not eliminate the steering problems. They could offer no explanation as to why there were NO problems with the steering before I brought the car to them and why the steering wheel was jerking around when I drove off of the lot after they rotated the tires. After I the holidays, I brought the car back to have them take another look since it made no sense to me that the car didnt have any steering problems when I brought it in but had them when I drove away. I asked them to take another look. They were not interested in rectifying the situation. They offered several explanations as to why the steering might be off but none of them explained why it was fine before I came to them but broken when I left. Since I kept pushing them, they said they would take another look at the car. This time they tell me that the rack and pinion is broken. They have no explanation for why I didnt have a problem before I came in to have my tires rotated but I immediately had a problem when I left the shop. I would strongly advise against going to this shop for repair or maintenance of your car. THEY WILL BREAK YOUR CAR. Even if they do not damage your car, the experience will be excruciating. In the times I have been there, I have noticed that it is routine for attendants to answer the phone and have long conversations in the middle of serving customers that are standing right in front of them. The wait time when standing at the counter can be unusually long. I couldnt help but wonder what was wrong with their computer system for the attendants to just sit and stare at the terminal for as long as they did. Their parking lot can get so crowded that its like being stuck on the 405 during rush hour traffic after a major accident. All in all, somebody really needs to examine the flow of operations in the shop because its certainly not working right now. Sadly, Im sure they will milk their name brand recognition for all that its worth rather than fixing any of the problems. Do yourself a favor and STEER CLEAR.

My actual rate is ZERO STARS!!!!This locations pep boys mechanics lied and made my experience more frustrating..never again!!About a year ago my car stopped accelerating near this location and I brought it in to receive an estimate . I was told I needed a diagnostic test so I went ahead and paid over $100 for the test. I was told that the problem was a "leaking gas gasket that needed to be replaced and it was the leaking oil that did not let my car accelerate since the oil was everywhere and that did not let the belts turn and needed to be cleaned out" I do not want to mention the exact amount I was being charged but it was well over 2,500. I decided not to proceed with the service at that location since I did not trust in their answers because I had not seen any oil near anything or leaking from the car. I needed to be towed to montebello and did not know of any towing company and asked the attending mechanic for advice he mentioned there was a pep boys near my destination and "pep boys offered free towing location to location if I decided to receive the service there and since I had paid for the diagnostics there should not be a problem " I called spoke with a pep boys customer service rep to set up the towing and it was setup for the following morning since there was not a towing operator available at that moment. The next morning I called the service number again since they did not show up at the promised time and then the call center rep told me that the service was not going to be provided because the diagnostics was already done at that pico location and could not get the service completed at the Monterey park location until I towed the car there myself and paid for another diagnostics test there. I explained to the rep what I was explained my the pico location mechanic explained to me and my desire to proceed at a different location then she called the location to confirm what I commented to her and she was told that I had not received any sort of advice from anyone there. I ended up having to hire another company to tow my car, missing 2 evenings of work which then affected my probational review at my new job and was considered as unreliable when needed as then let go for that position because of their poor service and lies, and later having to pay to fix what they had mentioned was "the problem" and the car was still in the same state. Unhelpful, unsympathetic, and untrustworthy mechanics at this location including the call center reps!

Customer service was horrible at this location from the get go. I took my truck which was in need of a new clutch to a pep boys in Santa Monica, they didnt have the equipment to replace a clutch in a 4x4 truck there so they sent me to this location, the other very helpful location had however told me how much it would cost and checked out my truck to ensure the master cylinder etc.. was still ok. They were. When I arrived at this location they quoted me a much higher price and told me I needed to replace a lot of related parts, I told them to just fix the clutch which for reasons they didnt seem to be able to explain the price was still higher than previously quoted. However when the work was done the price miraculously dropped back to the original quote. I have had three mechanics since look at the corresponding parts they said were bad and all three have assured me they are perfectly fine. One even straight up told me they were clearly trying to rip me off, he said there is no way a certified mechanic would want me to replace that part. A couple weeks later against my better judgment I went back there because my right blinker wasnt working and it wasnt the bulb or the fuse, and they told me they dont fix that. Really? Youre a full blown mechanic shop but you cant put a multimeter on an 88 pickup and find a bad wire or connection. Dont waste your time. Not to mention the attitude you recieve from walking in the door. P.s. if you have a similar electrical issue go to the car nerds about 4 miles down pico in santa monica. They fixed me up quick and gave wonderful customer service.
