I bought my dress here in November 2008, a full year before my wedding. Part of why I bought it so early was because there was a floor model that was fantastic, which meant it was 50% off. Being a floor model that had been tried on lots, there was some minor damage (missing beads, a small tear in the lace). The saleswoman I was working with told me that these things would be at no charge and that they would clean the dress at no charge. I was so pleased with my dress buying experience that I recommended Alfred Angelo to a girlfriend of mine. She also bought a floor model 50% off, but then encountered challenges when it came time for her fitting--an extremely long wait, despite having an appointment, and not having the stores commitment to making fixes honored. As a result of this, she did not have her alterations done at Alfred Angelo. Based on her experience, when I scheduled my appointment almost a month ago, I confirmed that these fixes would be made at no charge, as well as the cleaning. Fast forward to today, my first fitting. The seamstress tells me that they dont do these things free of charge, at which point I ask to speak to a manager. After 10-15 minutes, Tiffany can FINALLY be bothered to come speak to me. Her first question is who I worked with and if I had the receipt. I had not brought the receipt with me and did not remember the sales lady I worked with almost a year ago. When I asked if she could look me up in the system, she obliges. After finally finding me, she returns to say that there was a note in the system about making the fixes, so they will do those. I asked about the cleaning and Tiffany says that she cant do that because there was no note in the system. When I asked about them honoring their commitment to me, she basically said that I should have gotten this in writing and that the woman who sold me the dress is no longer with them. Should I have gotten this in writing? Absolutely. However, as I stated to Tiffany, I certainly feel that Alfred Angelo has screwed me for not getting this in writing when I wasnt really thinking about that the day I bought my dress and was, naturally, very excited and in the moment. I let Tiffany know that I was extremely disappointed and angry and that because of this, like my girlfriend, I would not be having my alterations done there. I cannot in good conscience give more money to a corporation with this business model, particularly knowing that this is a systemic problem and not a one time incident. I will be warning all of my friends and family NOT to shop at Alfred Angelo. So consider yourself warned.

Let me start all of this by saying that I am a pretty mellow, low maintenance person. I know what I like, dont like and am open to trying a dress that I might not have thought of. So Im far from a bridezilla, but Im not so low maintenance that Im blase and impossible to work with. I had been to several bridal shops trying on dresses. I was getting very frustrated because I felt like the people helping at other places werent listening to me. They would bring me a dress to try on. I wouldnt like it. I would explain what I didnt like and they would bring me basically the same dress with a slightly different lace pattern. And they werent bringing me dress styles I was requesting. I found one dress that I liked enough and the girl immediately quite giving me dresses and tried to convince me to buy a dress I didnt love. While out for brunch, my friend suggested I give Alfred Angelo a try. She called and they were able to take me right away. My experience wedding dress shopping went from being emotionally draining to fantastic as soon as I walked in the door. All of the women were smiling and happy. Crystal immediately asked about my personality, style and for a description of the wedding venue. She asked what i liked and didnt like about dress shopping so far. I said my biggest issue was that no one was listening to me when I would give feedback. She said she had the perfect person (which I was skeptical about) and introduced me to Brittany. Brittany was amazing!!! She pulled 5 dresses for me that were all different, but still in the vein that I was looking for. The 2nd dress she put me in, she gave me a heads up that it would be puffier and more "princess" than I had asked for, but asked me to trust her. She put me in front of the mirror and the dress was much more crinoline and fabric than I wanted, but everything else was perfect. Then she went to work. She grabbed clips and pins. Pulled all of the crinoline back. It was perfect! In less than an hour I had found my wedding dress. Its also worth noting that I met with the manager, Renee, to discuss my budget. She and Brittany not only pulled an amazing dress for me, but also worked within my budget. I am so happy with the entire staff at the Alfred Angelos on La Cienega. I will recommend that any of friends getting married go. Maybe they wont find their perfect dress as quickly as I did, but they will still have a great experience and not have to feel like just a number.

Worst customer service. I found a gown I liked at this shop with help from a friendly assistant. At the time I wasn’t sure it was the right dress, but I felt pressured to buy it and unfortunately I made the wrong choice. As an attorney, I reviewed the contract to make sure I could cancel the dress if I needed to. I knew I would lose my deposit, but I could cancel and I wouldn’t be on the hook for the remainder of the dress. I found the perfect dress elsewhere and when I called to cancel this dress, the sales associate told me I had to pay the remainder of the dress. I had to argue with her on the phone about her own contract! When I read her the applicable portions of the contract she hung up on me. I quickly alerted my credit card company not to authorize any charges from Alfred Angelo. Two months later, a different sales associate called me to tell me my dress had arrived and I needed to pick it up. I called back and told the associate that I had already canceled the order. There was no record of any cancellation. I had the exact same conversation with the associate, and again cancelled the dress. When they called me back in another month, I about lost it. They had not kept track of any of my prior conversations. As a litigator I don’t have much time, and spending time on the phone with wedding dress sales associates is the last thing I wanted to do. I called back and asked to speak to a manager. She tried to talk me out of cancelling my order (which I had already done twice). I told her I had already ordered another dress and this would be the last time I would speak with them. They called again a couple of months later and I ignored the phone call. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I was extremely frustrated with their lack of record-keeping. They wasted a lot of my time and energy. I would recommend going elsewhere.
