When I got engaged I was super excited, of course, and a million things were running through my mind. One of those things, where in the world would I get my dress?? I didnt want to go to the big chain salon because I know they dont have a huge selection for me and I have had less than satisfying experiences their with friends and family of mine. Being a curvy girl, it was something that had always kind of worried me. I love shopping and fashion, but all the plus size dresses I had seen were kind of boring and basic. Not to mention, theres not that many bridal salons that sell them, at least not in my area. When planning my trip to Long Beach during spring 2017, I live in Washington, I happened to come across the website for Strut. I thought, why not give it a chance? What could it hurt? I called and made my appointment, and thats where it all started. My sister came with me to the salon and we were greeted with smiles and overwhelming positivity. The main person who helped us was Tamiko. She was great! In preparation for coming to the salon, I sent them the link to my pinterest wedding page and answered some questions about my wedding and my style. At the salon I answered some more questions and then it was time to get started. Tamiko had already pulled some dresses for me and had them waiting in the dressing room. Upon walking into the dressing room I saw it. THE dress. I pointed to it and said "I want to try on that one!" And I did lol. It was love at first sight. I ended up trying a handful of other dresses on, but came back to that first one. Tamiko made me feel so comfortable and confident in every dress. She was funny, honest and genuinely cared about my happiness! I really had no intention of buying a dress that day, but the dress had other ideas lol. Oh, and I forgot to mention, I had pinned this dress at least 4 times and didnt even realize that I had! They really do their research and prep work at Strut! I left the salon that day just to sleep on it, and returned a couple days later to try it on once more and ultimately purchase my dress. The purchasing process was easy and stress free. I put down half the amount and have made montly payments since. They are very accomidating and are always friendly and helpful on the phone when I call. My dress should be in sometime in October, at which point I will go back for measurements and alterations. I am excited to see my dress again and see those friendly Strut ladies! Overall I would give Strut 10 out 10 stars and would recommend it to anyone looking for a dress. If you want a place where you will feel confident, beautiful, and comfortable Strut is for you! Thank you again! You made something I anticipated as being a super stressful experience into a suscessdul, happy day that Ill never forget!

Believe me when I say, I was the least excited about getting married knowing I will not find the dress of my dreams. I called multiple bridal shops and the regular response was "bring a friend of an average size and let them try on dresses, if you like them on your friend, we can custom order it in your size." I was afraid I had to go looking for a friend with my same frame, same curve ratio, same height to understand if a dress would look nice on me - then hope that the custom order would come out to my expectations. I yelped "plus size bridal" and Strut was one of the two store options that came up. I got my cousin and my made of honor and went off to Strut. While the design of the store interior and exterior was nothing bridal, the actual dresses said otherwise. Melissa was the original rep who helped me look for dresses. One after another, every dress I tried on fit me like a glove but more importantly, were actually candidates for my possible wedding dress. Of course, shorty after I found THE ONE. Melissa and Tamiko then helped accessorize it because I cant have a sleeveless dress. They helped me find the most beautiful sleeves, the most gorgeous vail, and helped me think about how I would wear my hair up. I left that day and came back with my parents. Tamiko quickly recognized me and pulled the right dress for me to try on. While I tried on other dresses as well (just for fun for my parents), I left THE ONE to the end. When I saw my father put on his sunglasses, I knew it was THE ONE! To feel beautiful as a plus size girl is so difficult in this world. They allowed me to feel beautiful. They allowed me to know that I have choices too and dont have to settle. Thank you girls for all of your help! I simply cant thank you enough. I cant wait to pick up my dress in October!!!! To the next plus size girl who is getting married, make sure to go to Strut before you go to the next plus size store. I promise you, you will not regret it. The dresses are MODERN, you dont have to give up your wedding ring to buy it (its not super expensive), and more importantly they are simply so understanding. I am not sure why Strut didnt come up as the #1 Plus Size store in The Knot when I was looking into plus size wedding stores. This place should come above all else. Good Luck to my Plus Size Brides! You are SOOOOO Beautiful! Dont settle for a dress that doesnt flatter your beautiful curves. Go big or go home!

Strut was nothing but amazing since I first emailed them! They were accommodating with my larger party and specific date (had family coming in from out of state for the big dress shopping day). They stayed within my budget when I told them and yet I still was able to try on every dress I liked! (since they are pretty reasonable all the ones I picked were within the budget) Strut was the second bridal salon I went to. The first dress I tried on, I cried. At first I thought it must be THE dress. and then when I tried that dress on again, and wasnt as in love, Tamiko suggested maybe it was because it was the first dress that fit me! Boy was she right! I am a size 18 in jeans and a large bust - the first place made me feel I would never be able to try on my dress until it was ordered or customized - but in we walk to Strut, and bam first dress zipped up perfectly! Tamiko was fantastic through the whole process - from my first email through saying yes to the dress! I felt like my dress was just missing a little something that the #2 dress had and when she explained I could add it, I knew I found my dress! I told myself all week prepping for the appt that i would not but instinctively and would need to think at least over night (plus I had two appts the next day!) but I knew I found it and was so happy to yes! Im excited to continue working with strut when my dress comes in, and my bridesmaids to order their dresses! Only thing I would say - nothing to do with the store - if you are coming a distance (which I was over an hour half away) prepare for traffic and finding parking!
