After trying to source some lightbulbs online, I called the manufacturer directly. They could not sell in small quantities and also to someone not a retailer however, they could refer me to two local retailers. Me calling my local (Oakland) Ace Hardware, after the manufacturer told me they shipped my specialty halogen bulb there: "No maam, we dont know if we have these light bulbs. We have a lot of light bulbs. We have Halogens. Youll have to come in and look for them." Me calling 10 miles away to Lafayette Ace: "What is the part number? Ill be right back." (A few minutes later) "Yes, its in stock and the price is $xx." I asked how many they had. "About eight." Me: "Ill take them all." Lafayette Ace: "Would you like me to check for more?" Me: "Yes, if you have ten I would like them. They are difficult to find." The gentleman put them aside for me. Customer service here is high level.

I have lived in the Pleasant Hill Walnut Creek area for 60 years and always have project going, so I know ALL the hardware and ace stores in the area... The Lafayette Ace Hardware store, is hands down, the most EXPENSIVE hardware of any in the area... Example: dual strand small speaker wire I used to rewire my saftey sensors on my roll up garage door... Lafayette Ace was $.49 per ft, bought elsewherere for $.15 per foot... 4 ft section of aluminium 1x1" aluminium extrusion, Lafayette Ace has it priced at $21.99, bought ,elswhere in Pleasant Hill for $13.49 and I could go on and on... Oh yea, dont go there for refitting your smoke detectors as they have a poor selection...

This place is my go-to stop for hardware when my local Ace is missing something. They manage to pack a ton into this tiny store and the staff are always amazing. I dont know what the owner threatens them with but they are always smiling and eager to help (just kidding about the threats). Great for those purchases you need to make that dont require a long trip to Home Depot.

It is pretty expensive compare to Home Depot or Lowes. But if you dont want to drive extra 20 min and couple bucks dont make much difference for you pocket - shop here.
