This subscription service is so amazing that I dont even know where to start. When I joined I was really only looking to steadily grow my vinyl collection at a price that wouldnt break the bank (and is honestly a much better deal than you would get if you were to go out and buy 1-3 new albums each month), and I ended up finding so much more. VNYL isnt you average curation service, they place a high priority on growing a community. Their employees have been nothing but friendly, welcoming, and swift in their responses whenever Ive had a question or needed anything. In all honesty, I love this service so much that sometimes I feel like a VNYL ambassador because I praise it so frequently to my friends and family. With everything going on in the world today, there is plenty of negativity swirling around out there but because of this service, I am guaranteed to open a little box of music happiness at least once a month. And, yes, that box may only contain a record, but having a perfectly curated surprise on your doorstep every couple of weeks really makes a difference in quality of life - for me its all about the little joys in life that put a smile on your face and this service does just that. Theyve opened my eyes to new music, sent me some of my steadfast favorites, and even introduced me to new friends. Because VNYL focuses on bringing music lovers together and building a community, I now have friends in every corner of the country that I would likely have never had the fortune of meeting if this service didnt exist. Thank you, VNYL fam!

Horrible all around. Honestly the worst run company I have ever come across. Customer service is spotty and rarely responds. Shipping and "curating (if you can even call it that) take forever. I think they are completely overwhelmed with orders but are still sending out new client Invite codes when they cant keep up with customers they already have. For my first order I was sent an album from a band who I had noted on my list of favorites- with a hand written note from my "curator" telling me to "check out this band, I think youll like them!" That makes me think they dont even read your profile which is the entire point of the service. I had a store credit I needed to use up (they charge me card twice) so I decided to use that towards the price of a speaker they sell. I ordered the speaker a week ago and it still says its "curating" This is just getting comical, plus I was informed after my order that I couldnt my store credit on the speaker. I just cannot wait to get the things I ordered and be DONE with this company- Oh and I didnt even touch on the TRNTBL I pre-ordered LAST JULY, Im starting to think I will never receive it, the date has been pushed back so many times with no communication with the customers that have preordered, I should not have to contact you to ask about something Ive already given you money for. If you look up ratings and reviews on this company online they are nothing but bad, please, believe them.

The only reason I am giving this company two stars is because of the great customer support person that helped me a few weeks ago and because they did send me a few albums I did really like. I received this as a gift for my birthday. When I signed up the website required a credit card to redeem the gift which I thought was ridiculous. The gift was already paid for why would I need to put in my credit card? Once you sign up they ask you to select a vibe to get the records. I forgot to pick my vibe the second month and the customer support did help me make that one up on third month. but the orders always came very late. I took them over 5 weeks to ship out my first one and my other boxes took almost four weeks to be shipped. On top of that after the three month gift expired they charged me for a fourth month without my authorization. No email. no warning when I signed up that it would charge me for the fourth month. nothing. When I contacted them the support staff at first offered me store credit or the final box. After declining they did refund the payment and made sure that the membership was cancelled. It is a good concept and the support replied to my email very promptly but whoever is making the decisions on how the company is run really needs to rethink some things and maybe take a course on how to ethically run a business.

VNYL is the BEST! I have been a member for I dont know how long (over a year though) and it has been such a fun and easy sub. service. Getting to choose my monthly vibe is fun! The curation time isnt too bad as I would expect it takes some time to really pick out some records so cant really complain there. I have gone back and forth between levels of how far out to go from give me anything to cold as ice and I feel like no matter what I always get something good. The Members Slack is one of the neatest ideas I think make VNYL a stand out from other services. The ability to get in touch with VNYL employees easily and chime in to conversations makes it really great. I have met some really cool people in there and learned a lot about music, equipment (turntables and speakers) as well as other general topics. Its a fun and welcoming community! I am also excited about getting my TRNTBL I pre-ordered. It is coming out in June and while it was pushed back a few times I know how releasing a hardware product can be and VNYL has waited to get everything just right. Really cant recommend this service enough.

Cancelling my subscription, let down by lack of communication. I had to contact support after a month and a half of nothing being sent to me before they told me that I needed to finish my profile information. Even after I already connected my discogs profile. January order still has not even been shipped 2 weeks into February. The "vibes" are very ambiguously titled and there is no option for the type of music I like. #whinypoppunk #hipstergirliecrap #werippedyouoff. I cancelled my subscription yesterday and have received 15 cancellation emails. Summary: crappy music, long waits, poor communication, and glitchy site = no thanks. The one good thing from this site is I heard about discogs which actually has people who sell used records that I actually want to hear and they arrive a lot faster and for less money. UPDATE: Its been over a week since I cancelled my subscription and Ive been getting multiple cancellation emails per day even after contacting them and telling them to stop. Getting ready to contact BBB about this place.

I really liked this concept in theory and looked forward to my boxes with anticipation, but each box was quite disappointing. I ordered at a time when several bands I love were releasing new albums. I thought I might get one or more of these releases and requested those, but that didnt happen. Ive been buying records for a while and have a decent sized collection, so I dont really think this service is for me. I think its ideal for someone just starting out who is trying to build a collection. I feel like their slogan could be, "Hey, remember that album from 7 years ago that you kind of liked but thought, nah, I probably wont really listen to it? Well, well send you 3 of those every month for $50." I guess thats the only real way they can make it work financially. I only hated 2 of the 6 records I got. The others were decent, but if I really wanted them I would have bought them sometime in the 7 years between when they were released and now. I was hopeful but ultimately very disappointed.
