Dont pay attention to the fake 5 star reviews. Theyre from people she knows to butter up her google reviews. Read the one star reviews and theres a definite trend about her rudeness and greediness. I bought a really nice ring from this shop. The problem is the main sales woman here is extremely rude and condescending. While sitting with her, a UPS delivery guy came in with a package. She says "Do I have to sign?" to which he replied yes. Then right in front of me she tells him in a very unsettling manner "Next time, dont interrupt me when Im with a client." Her assumption that shes so superior to him that he shouldnt do his job was infuriating. It wasnt his choice to have her sign, it was his duty and she completely disregarded that out of her own self righteousness. She also made me really uncomfortable prying at irrelevant, unnecessary details about my relationship when buying the engagement ring. She has a superiority complex that seriously needs to be knocked down. She patronizes everyone unless she thinks shes going to get money. I brought the ring in for cleaning and returned at an agreed time. When I got there, she was dilly dallying outside setting up for something not important at all, and completely forgot to clean the ring. She went inside to "get it for me" but was actually rush cleaning it. Then she forgot about me to where I had to get her attention and ask for the ring. Then she wouldnt let me leave when she started feeding more misguided information about it and asked for me to trade it in for more jewelry, I kid you not. Even after stressing Im not on the market for more jewelry, she ignored it and kept pressing. It was really frustrating and I just wanted to leave. Every experience when I walk into this store is discomforting and annoying. After the ring cleaning, I vowed to never step foot in there again. Id rather pay for a cleaning elsewhere then have to deal with this entitled, narcissistic woman who truly believes shes better than everyone. She doesnt deserve your business. Go elsewhere.

Over Christmas time, I received my first watch as a gift from my father. The band size was unfortunately too large and I decided to go to a jeweler to have the band adjusted. After calling several different jewelers whom all gave me various snide answers that they were closing and I would have to wait until tomorrow for any services, as well as giving me a rather large estimate for the adjustment I desired. Finally I called Julia at Baroness jewelers and despite her store closing at the same hours that the previous ones did, she told me that she would wait and to come in regardless. I finally arrived at the store and Julia very politely introduced herself and let me in. After I gave her my watch, she invited me to sit down and told me that she would fix the watch that night; rather than having to get it tomorrow as was originally planned. Not only did she adjust the links of my watch but she also showed me the process and gave me some a multitude of tips to take care of it. Over all, she not only quoted me the absolute best price to have the adjustment done, but was caring enough for her customers that spent time after she was supposed to close her store to help me. After having experienced various retail customer service situations, I would have to rate this experience as one of the most pleasant and excellent service Ive had and will most definitely return here for future purchases.

DO NOT GO HERE. After reading the reviews it essentially sounds like: if youre looking for a new friend to talk you through your life, or talk about your family jewels you inherited, and are a millionaire-go for it. But if youre less than a millionaire, and just need a watch or ring to be fixed for a reasonable price in a reasonable time-steer clear. My wife and I had to get our wedding bands re-polished, and hers re-sized. We came here to check out their prices. We came in, and immediately were sized up by the woman, very obviously. She took my wifes ring, and came back with jargon we didnt understand. Before giving us the price she gave us another thorough look over, and came up with $350-for my wifes rings alone. We laughed, and went to another place where we had been told it would be $90 total for all 3 rings. We later heard that many jewelers will take advantage of newlywed couples who arent as knowledgeable about stones and charge them extra- because they probably wont know any better. Were they friendly? Sure. Would I ever bring them anything I needed to be fixed? Under no circumstances.

Julia at Baroness Jewelers has provided an excellent experience for my wife and me. I brought my wife in to have a custom ring made to celebrate our tenth anniversary. Julia, while a shrewd businesswoman, is first and foremost an artist who takes great pride in her craft. We worked together for months to design and perfect the ring and the ring is, indeed, perfect. I would originally have given a four-star review but a recent experience has bumped my opinion up to a five (which is why Im bothering to write the review). Recently, the ring was damaged (were still not sure how) and we brought it in to Julia for repairs. It came back to us as good as new and Julia charged us far less than I anticipated, stating that she was only charging us for the labor, despite the fact that new gold needed to be added to the ring. Pros: Excellent product Good customer service Reasonable price (though Im no expert as far as that goes). Cons: Dont expect a rush job (but the product is worth the wait). Sometimes hard to get a hold of, depending on time of year.

I needed to have my watch repaired, and I prefer to support local business so I was happy to find Baroness. Unfortunately my experience with them was horrible. A simple repair took them 6 weeks (instead of the 3 they promised -- which was already far too long). On top of that they did a poor job, and charged me 30% more than the exorbitant fee they promised initially. The promised fee ($300) was already 6 times what I paid to have similar work done. Then, when I picked it up, they had tacked on another $100! No explanation was given. To make matters worse, they replaced my strap with a low quality one that didnt fit. When I asked them to put my back strap on they wanted another week, and would only refund part of the money they charged for a service I did not ask for! Every step of the way they added fees and time, and acted as if I were the problem for not just sitting back and paying whatever they asked! Avoid this place if you can. There are many better and more trustworthy places in town.

I have a nice Victorinox swiss watch and the leather band was worn out. I had been to one other place in town a few months back and was looking for an alternative. So I talked with Julia at Baroness and she said she would take care of it for me. About 4 business days later she called and said it was ready. I was very pleased with her work, taste and attention to detail. The new band is actually better than the original OEM band, and the color matches the watchs black dial perfectly and in a better way than the original. Price was very reasonable. Ive been wearing the new band for 4 or 5 months now and the more I wear it the better I like it. Very well done! She also did some work on a stainless steel watchband on a Raymond Weil watch that I have and that project was done very well also. I am very happy with my experiences and will not hesitate to use Baroness in the future. JK in Goleta
