Rather than the great compliments posted for this store, I had quite disappointed experience with this place twice. First time, it happened last year, when I did my exam and got a pair of frame glasses. Everything seemed great, nice doctor, friendly assistants, plenty of choices for big brand frames. Though I have to pay quite more, due to extra features of my frame glasses, the coating, the UV protection and the extra thin lens, I like the service and the product overall. However, when I went back to pick up my glasses. The assistant told me that I have to pay another 150 dollar in addition, because they did a contact eye exam not an eye exam for frame glasses. OK, I did mention to the doctor that I wear contact for most time while the doctor was doing the eye exam. But they did not mention anything about contact eye exam while doing the exam. How much is the difference between a contact eye exam and one for the frame classes? I wear contact for more than 15 years. They did not help me with choosing the brand for my contact or teach me how to wear the contact at all. I can not help myself to think that they would like to squeeze more money from me, since they noticed that I only need to pay 10 dollars for the eye exam for frames because of my insurance coverage. I took the prescription for my contacts at the end, and did not argue more as I will need the new prescription for the coming year any more. The second disappointed experience occurred in the past weekend. I went to buy new contacts and showed the assistant the prescription I got last year. It has not been expired. But the assistant refused to sell me contact and insist I need a new prescription. According to this middle aged Asian lady, as my prescription will be expired in 3 days, they can only give me supply for 3 days. Because the insurance company prohibited them to give me a year supply. She said contact lens is a critical device,so the insurance asks the prescribers to ensure the safe use of the lens. I have purchased contact for almost 10 years in the US and never met this kind of ridiculous requirement. I challenged her that I never had this experience when I purchased contact lens on east coast. She hesitated a bit and then said it could be the new rules. It is nonsense. I checked my insurance plan later. No such requirement in the contact lens section at all. Isnt it obviously that this store is only trying to trick me to pay more? I highly recommend people not going to this kind of dishonest store. There are at least another 2 or 3 eye wear stores in the neighborhood, which is maximum 5 mins driving. If you like big brand frames or sun glasses, you find several good ones in San Mateo downtown area. Do not allow yourself be tricked by this store which dose not carry the integrity at all.

I love this place, they always have stylish frames and variety of selections. They also see children which is always a plus, one stop visit. My child broke my eye glass frame and they I dropped by to order another. They are friendly and helpful.
