I have gone to this very nice upscale mall in the past. The family goes to Maggianos (very good Italian restaurant). We consider South Coast Plaza one of the best malls in Orange County. I returned there because I enjoyed my experience at this mall, I thought I would share some information to help shoppers and visitors find stores within the mall that they would enjoy. ------ I hate to share negativity in my reviews. With that said though, my experience in this regard was not at all what I had expected and not at all enjoyable. Moral of this review: Leave your cameras at home or in the car when visiting South Coast Plaza. According to Security the Mall policy is, no photos. I was in South Coast Plaza for about 15 minutes when a Security Gaurd approached me; the Gaurd discouraged my taking photos in the mall (and also emphasized no videos). I politely mentioned that I am a Google Guide and that Guides take photos to share them on Google Maps. He insisted on no photos but then says it was okay in the Commons but not in any stores. I asked him where the Customer Service desk was so I could get the official mall policy. That way I would know for sure. I went to the Customer Service Desk and spoke with the Mall Rep, Bayani. Bayani told me that it was okay to take photos and videos so I thanked him and continued through the Mall. Mall Security then escalated the issue approaching me a few times after I had gone to Customer Service desk. Finally I asked the Security Lead Gaurd to go back with me to the Customer Service Desk so we could speak with Bayani about what I had been told by him. When I asked Bayani to tell the Security Lead, Bayani now said that it isnt okay to take photos (and Bayani mentioned to me that Security had talked with him about this issue). I respectfully asked for the Security Lead to bring a Mall Manager to show me the Malls policy in writing. They said there wasnt any Management there on that day because it was a holiday (no Management????) I gave the Security Lead my phone and email asking that he forward a request for Management to contact me about this issue. There are no signs in the mall that state, no photos or no videos on these premises... Another point on this matter, as I mentioned they could not produce any documentation to show that no photo taking was actually the Malls policy. Four different Security Gaurds and the Customer Service rep all had a different take on this. Importantly, I was very polite in all of this as I realized they are doing their job probably to the best of their ability and knowledge. Two of the Gaurds though were not completely polite with me.. I finally decided to leave because of this treatment. Really, no photos in a mall? How many customers take photos everyday? How many Google Guides visit and review this mall favorably (I counted dozens in the review list on Google Maps).

A womans dream and dream women for men. Where else in world do women dress up like a night on the town, just to go shopping? LA?! PLEASE! They have nothing on us. This is how we do it in The OC. Have you ever imagined a super mall of designer clothing stores the size of Disneyland? This place is for you. Taking up 3 city blocks brings new meaning to "shop till you drop." I recommend comfortable shoes, I dont know how some women can browse for hours in high heals. Who needs a treadmill when you have such a massive mall. Its not even a workout, but if your male you may want to train your Mall Stamina before going on a shopping marathon. Women: 5 stars or more. Bring empty credit card balances and full wallets, preferably not your own. Do some arm curls at the gym so you can fully maximize your bag carrying skills because you will need it. You can also bring a boyfriend/ husband and make them carry it. Just be nice and cook for them later. Men: ZERO stars of shopping hell! (straight men). Hopefully you have ESPN on your smart phone and a lot of patience. If you do like shopping, 95% of this place is for women. So unless you are tagging along with girlfriend or shopping to put a ring on it, avoid. Okay maybe its not that bad. If you like to eat at great expensive restaurants and enjoy site seeing. You wont be disappointed by eye candy just dont get caught.

Its always very busy and parking for the disabled is lacking. There are very few handicap parking spots to begin with and the majority of the time they are full. So go with a plan. The mall is very large and is kind of like an amusement park for adults. The high end retail stores are on one end, while the large brand store cover the majority of entrances. With all kinds of little boutiques in between. Get online before you go. Figure out where and what stores you want to go to. Then devise a plan as to where to park, Valet is available but I have yet to engage a Valet parking person that can park a car with handicap controls. But its always an option. Best advice though is to plan ahead, unless you just are going to wander around and wi Dow shop and ha e a bite to eat. If thats the case you e come to the right place. If you have kids, make sure you devise a meeting place where n case your separated. I know this sounds redundant but treat it as if your going to an amusement park. There are tourists, attraction, A carousel, Balloons, and then employees and locals. So devise a plan in case somebody gets lost in the shuffle. Otherwise enjoy yourself.

South Coast Plaza is a great place I live a walking distance from there, and tere is always a spot to park. The food eat. They have expensive restaurants, coffee shops, bbq, seafood, you name it! I was really sad when they took away the Rainforest Cafe, but thats okay. The history of how South Coast Plaza came to be is amazing. The place where I call home now, was once a farm by the man who created the place. I like to pass by the farm sometimes. There are many clothing stores too, like Victorian Secret or Foot Locker. Things may be a bit expensive, but sometimes you should just treat yourself. You can go to Brookstone and sit in the massage chairs and listen to music. The mall is also kid friendly, with cartoons to watch at Disney, and the carousel. Or, if you have a teen, free makeup samples at Sephora. In conclusion, South Coast Plaza is a great mall to go to.

This mall has quite the selection of stores, from mid-end to high-end fashion. It seems to always be crowded during weekends and especially holiday seasons. Weekdays are much less crowded. The stores are comparably nicer looking than the same stores at other malls as well. I usually come here for Gap, Zara, J. Crew, Uniqlo, and Banana Republic. Theres also another section of h mall called the Metro connected by a nice bridge. It has numerous furniture stores, but also Apple Store, Anthropolgie, and H&M to name a few. The only gripe I would have is the parking. While there are many parking lots, it sometimes could take a long walk to certain stores depending on where you park. There are some very close but small parking lots that I usually check, such as in front of Tiffany & Co., or in front of Bloomingdales and Corner Bakery, or underground of the Metro side.
