I was on my to hit the Auburn trails today when i realized I needed some energy food. I had always seen the Auburn Bike Company sign when going to my favorite launch site but never stopped in - today was the day. Little did I know in less than 45 minutes Id be leaving with my Santa Cruz Nomad a totally transformed machine. The place is small and cool with a variety of bikes and components old and new. While I browsed the selection of new and used bikes, several locals that knew the owner, Curtis, popped in and out picking up and dropping off bikes. I grabbed my power gel ready to hit the trail and then mentioned to Curtis I had a little more bob in my rear shock than I wanted but couldnt figure out how to dial it in. He mentioned that dialing in suspension was his specialty but I wasnt ready to sign up for a full analysis cause I had to ride and get home... I ended up rolling the bike in to see if he could dial my rear shock quickly... I could go into specifics here but wont make it a Yelp novel- after several quick adjustments to the rear, a couple of short spins on his little course and a little more dialing in on my Talas 180 fork, the transformation was complete. Being fairly mechanical I had all my sag settings correct (25% & 30%) and the Nomad seemed to perform well until I rode my usual loop after Curtis dialed in the suspension. Holy cow what a difference! Yeah my bike no longer bobbed on the uphill but what blew me away was the balance and stability his suspension tweaking made on the corners, berms and jumps. No sliding, much cleaner take offs and landings, incredible. I use to ride dirt bikes and I still drive auto cross- THE rule for success in both of these disciplines is having a properly balanced machine (and folks spend a lot of $ with pros to give their machines that). Because I followed the manufacturers guidelines on sag, I thought I was balanced- not. His work didnt require buying any expensive parts, he wasnt pushing any extras on me and what he charged me was really reasonable. Easily the best money and time Ive spent on this bike for a huge performance gain. Curtis has been in the industry for over two decades, managed a team...and it shows; this shop is extremely knowledgeable, personable, has low pressure sales and excellent customer service with no attitude all for a reasonable price. Ill definitely be back.

You simply will not find a better bike shop! The customer service at ABC is top shelf, the mechanics epitomize attention to detail and the overall vibe is exactly what one would hope for in a cycling town like Auburn. I am a life-long rider and have never found a bike shop that welcomes you the way ABC does; no over your head tech-talk, no arrogance, no BS...just a cool bunch of bike lovers. Whether youre a cycling geek or new to the sport, Curtis and his guys will take the time to explain anything and everything, no matter how busy they are; and in the process, make you feel a part of the ABC community in short order. They have done great work on my roadie and hardtail over the years and I recently bought a new Ibis Mojo HD3 from them that I couldnt be happier with. If youre looking for a bike or gear at a great price, need some work done or want advice on local trails, do yourself a favor and stop by Auburn Bike Co. Easy to find right along Hwy 80 at the Foresthill exit.

I couldnt be happier! After getting new bars for my new bike I needed new bar tape and not just any bar tape, I specifically wanted the extra cushy Lizard Skins DSP in Pink. I went to Auburn Bike Company yesterday after looking all over town, they didnt have it BUT offered to order it for me. Being that I wanted to ride my new bike as soon as possible I was hesitant but went ahead with the special order. This afternoon I got a phone call that my tape was in!!! 24 hours later. I cant think of anywhere else where I could get that kind of service! After talking to Curtis while I was in there yesterday I mentioned some issues I had with my race bike and that I had an upcoming tri. I decided to bring my bike in while I picked up the bar tape and in no time the rubbing and gearing issues were fixed and the bike is riding better than I thought I would. definitely will be back and telling all of my friends at any level of cycling to check out the shop!

In a town full of great bike shops, Auburn Bike Company stands out for their outstanding knowledge and excellent service. I have purchased several bikes from ABC and Curtis has helped me get them all adjusted and tuned to perfection. To make thing even sweeter, ABC has helped me sell all of my old gear. Their used bike sales service is awesome. They make it so I dont have to deal with trying to sell my old stuff, getting it cleaned and tuned and then arranging for shipping. I just bring it in and they have a check for me in a week or two. Sweet. Auburn Bike Company continues to keep my bikes running great. And if you want get a ride in with a super strong and talented rider, try to get out with Curty. He always has great tips for improving skills and has a bead on the latest tires and other gear to keep you ripping. Thank you Curtis & Auburn Bike Company. Keep up the great work!

I was in search of a good bike shop that specialized in the type of bikes and terrain I was interested in riding. The foothills area has quite a diversity of trail types and finding someone who knows a lot about them isnt easy. I was pretty surprised to find Auburn Bike Company was that shop and very local. This small shop offered the expertise, gear AND friendliness that I was looking for as a new rider. We purchased a Norco hardtail for our boy and after Jay put it together Curtis stayed after hours to get our boy fitted correctly. Then noticing we had our bikes with us he offered to check them out and made a bunch of adjustments to improve our fit and safety. Thats wonderful customer service and we didnt even buy an expensive bike! I cannot recommend Auburn Bike Company enough. Excellent service and top notch brands!

After reading a bunch of other reviews on here, Im afraid I cant offer much different. These guys are every bit as good as everyone says they are. I do have a slight twist though. I bought this Devinci Leo SL pretty much sight unseen (ok, I saw a picture) over the internet based on a phone call with Curtis, the owner. Since I live in NH, it was a bit of a leap of faith to wire the money to some small shop in CA, but Curtis made me feel comfortable with the transaction and geez, was it worth it. The bike is exactly as described, in excellent condition with exactly the described components. Curtis has offered any phone support I felt I needed as well as warranty support if necessary. I wish the folks at our local bike shops were this nice. They do ok, but the bar is definitely higher now.
