Only giving 1 star because you have to. I purchased $75 worth of party decorations. When I got home I realized I had gotten too much for the amount of kids attending the party and that most of my items were way over $1. I went to pick up my daughter from school and took the items I wanted to return, unopened and with my receipt. I didnt anticipate any problem. I was sorely mistaken. They have a sign that says Exchange or Store Credit within 9 days of purchase. No where does it say "NO REFUNDS." I do not shop at this store - ever- because you have to pay close attention to what is and isnt $1. So, even though nothing was open or damaged and i had my receipt and it was the same day, the assistant manager REFUSED to give me a refund for $33.16. Nevermind the fact that I still spent $40+ dollars there. These GREEDY, greedy people could not be reasoned with. I explained that I do not shop at the store and also that they do not have a "no refunds" policy posted anywhere. She still refused. Not to mention, she was the assistant manager, the ACTUAL manager was not in the store, and she had to have a cashier walk her through the return process. Terrible, TERRIBLE customer service. I will not ever be going back there. Update: The corporate office just called me back because I filed a complaint. She sat there and argued with me just like the "assistant manager" at the store. They dont care that they dont have a NO REFUND policy posted and they have the most HORRIFIC customer service I have ever witnessed. Absolutely disgusted.

Although the store has a pretty good selection of items, I have to agree with many of the complaints. Employees have little knowledge of what items they have for sale or where they are located. They lack customer service skills. Frequently not enough cashiers to handle long lines of customers. I called the week of Christmas to see if they would be open Sunday, Christmas day, as I always pick up the Sunday paper each week. I was told that they would be closed that day, but would have the Sunday paper available Monday, December 26th. When I showed up on Monday, there were no newspapers. When I called the store later to complain, I spoke to Michelle. She said it was up to the Az Republic, not the store. I told her that staff should not be telling people that there would be newspapers available, causing customers to waste gas and time to go to the store. She hung up on me! No employee should EVER hang up on a customer unless they are abusive or cursing (which I was not doing.) You need to take some serious actions to deal with poor employee behavior. If you want repeat business, treat the customers better!

I visited yesterday to get a last minute halloween costume accessory and I noticed a broken mirror and glass all over the floor and a child about to grab a slice of the glass. I immediately went to find an employee and I found a woman coming from the back with a mop bucket I said "Hi, sorry, I just wanna make sure you know theres some broken glass." The lady then with very much attitude said " Yeah, I know. Im going there right now." And then I watched as she went to a whole new area where I guess there was more broken glass, so I walked up to her and again tried to tell her about the broken mirror 3 aisles down. Again with a lot of attitude she says "Yeah, I know. Im cleaning it right now!" I was shocked the way she snapped at me so I chose to find someone else and luckily I did and she was very nice and took care of the glass. I realized before I left the store that the very rude older woman was actually the manager. It really doesnt make me want to return.

The employees could seriously use some customer service training. They are all incredibly rude and just about every time they are finished ringing me up, I have to reach to their side on the counter to grab my bags. Why is it so hard to be polite? Also, a lady who acted like a manager (in the sense that she was telling others what to do), complained to me (a customer) about her employees being "so lazy". I dont care how much you dont want to be there, you get paid to interact with customers. Learn to do it right or find another job. I live close to this store but I would much rather travel to a farther store just for better customer service skills.

A large variety of whatever inexpensive items you may need. Not everything is 99 cents though, theyve branched out and have more expensive items. You can get produce, canned goods, personal care items, toys, even books. They often have name brand products for only 99 cents. I stop in whenever Im in the area and always find plenty to spend my money on.

I go to 99 cents only stores because they carry more variety for a dollar store. The management needs to train employees on customer service. The cashier cut off the during service. They dont greet or say, "Thank you for shopping at the 99 cents store and have a great day!" Customer service goes a long way. It keeps customers coming back.

I am disgusted by all 99 cents stores in general. I have OCD and this store really ticked me off. Not everything is 99 cents hence the name 99 cents only store. Some things are more or less than 99 cents. DO NOT go there if u are OCD like me. The only pros were that the staff was friendly and the store was surprisingly clean!

Dont bother asking for help. Unless you speak spanish. Watch your receipt at the checkout. The place is called "99 cent ONLY stores" but thats a lie. Just watch what you buy, some items go from $1 - $10. But honestly I was debating on 3-4 stars. Wife shops here all the time.

This whole store was digusting. The second I walked in the door I was overcome with the smell of rotten food. The whole store was filthy. Not to mention that the store is named "99 cents only," but there are many items well over $.99. I will not shop here again.

I would of given them 5 stars but the bathroom was atrocious! It smelt so bad that you couldnt even breathe inside. If my young son didnt have to go potty we would of left.
