Desoto Market is one of the most unique restaurants Ive ever been to, to the extent that I dont even know if "restaurant" is really an appropriate description! I think the best way to describe Desoto Market is as a food court. But all of the dining options within are independently owned, with local chefs and fresh, healthy ingredients that will make your mouth water. Theres a burger joint, a salad/smoothie place, an asian/fusion cuisine place, a bar, a coffee bar, and probably at least one or two other options that I forgot to mention. The food is delicious and its easy to go to multiple stands and order different things. Some of the stands will serve you your food right then and there, while others will deliver it to you (Desoto Market has open seating!) But Desoto Market is also just as much of a community hub as it is a restaurant. Every Tuesday night is trivia night, for example, which is always a ton of fun! Theres a mezzanine level that Ive seen get rented out for private events and even things like speed dating. They even have board games that anyone can borrow. The place is always buzzing with activity and its a great place to just hang out with friends and have a good time!

This is one of those modern food court style places. You go inside and there is a large bar and lounge right in front. But around back there are several small food places with open seating - like a food court. In general I found the food to be really expensive for what you get. Granted, I bet the rent is really high for these people and theyre just trying to make ends meet. But it seems this business model isnt going to work out too great in the long run. Its kind of sad really. Oh, and the parking lot is shard with the business next door. After 11pm the lot is closed and locked. But there are ZERO signs telling you the lot will be locked. Be sure to get your car out before they close or youll have to come back the next day to get it out.

Had no idea this place existed until my friend recommended it for lunch yesterday. We both decided on a salad. It was excellent! I usually dont have an issue picking out which salad I want when I go somewhere, but they all sounded so tasty. I settled on the Southwestern salad and it was a great choice. They have 2 sizes and I probably could have ordered the smaller one and still been full. I cant wait to come back and try more of the salads as well as the other food options they have. They do have a complimentary valet, but there was only one guy working when I pulled up. If you get lucky, you might be able to find street parking.

The food is very expensive and not worth what you pay for. I really wanted my $17.00 burger to live up to it being priced so high and it did not. If you want a decent burger stick to Burger Works, Hillside or Diablo Burger. However it was a fun place so I would recommend it to large groups. We had a group of 10 and it was perfect. It was not packed at all for a Saturday night. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. If I were to rate on the atmosphere and staff alone I would have rated this place a 5. But the overpriced food really got me. I do like that you have various place to select from. That was fun.

Dozens of different culinary experiences all under one historic roof. The Desoto building has been able to survive the ruthless developers who are quick to pave over a once vibrant past, where you can now find the new frontier of Phoenix: Cuisine. Built during the Art Deco period, the Desoto building provides a glimpse into Phoenixs car-centric past, while offering up flavors from our diverse culinary community where Stephen/Plymouth motors once where displayed. A for sure must see during your next visit to downtown Phoenix, or if you live in the area, a great place to spend the afternoon!

we have been to Desoto many times and really love the food and atmosphere. unfortunately we had a bad experience today. they were advertising a "yappy" hour - bring your dog to brunch. got a table on the patio. the bartender and the guy we ordered food from both said that dogs were also allowed inside. We saw several dogs inside too. So we go inside to take a picture by the Christmas tree and the owner comes over and asks us to leave because dogs are not allowed inside per local law. Thats fine but dont let your staff misinform patrons then make a scene with your customer. no bueno.

Desoto Central Market truly has something for everyone. From salads and soul food, to burgers, Asian fusion, and seafood, this market truly has it all. The location is beautiful and historic, and is centrally located and accessible from the lightrail. The patio is very comfortable and there is ample seating inside and outside. On weeknights and weekends, they have loads of different events from Yoga to Farmers Markets, and beyond. Truly an eclectic space with equally unique finds inside.

Vast inside hang-out spot. Seriously, its way bigger inside than it looks like from the street. Its actually organized as a "food court" with separately-branded restaurants inside, all sharing common seating in the front and upstairs. There is a: -Bar -Coffee shop -Oyster and champagne bar (?) -Burger joint -Asian-Latin fusion stall that makes bao -Salad bar -"The Larder" - meats and stuff I guess -Supposedly ice cream is coming, although its been that way for a while.

I found this place by accident. I asked a beautiful blonde woman who works at the bar at the northwest corner if I needed to purchase something to use the restroom. She informed me it was not necessary. This place is, in my opinion, the quintessential definition of comfortable. It has a variety of healthy restaurant choices, as well as board games, team trivia night (I am soooo there), and even live music certain nights. If you are in the neighborhood its a must.

The big open spaces allowed for creative thinking and willingness to try new things. The restaurant staff are also the chefs; we were able to talk to them about our food, their careers, and what they personally like about the DeSoto concept. It was easy to stay late and lose track of time. I hope to host my birthday dinner here... If reserving space/seating is made easy, this will by far be my new favorite hang out in Phoenix.

Really open and spacious place. Contains 3 or 4 different food venues inside. Its like having food truck Friday all inside one place, kind of like a gourmet food court. Really tasty food and drinks present. Lots of places of places to sit and connect. A great place to pregame at before bars or to camp out at with a good book or laptop. Come for studying, reading, socializing, or drinking. There is something for everyone.

I tried the Lobster roll because it was the Friday Happy hour special. I am glad I asked the gentleman to describe it because I was picturing a sushi roll. He explained it was like a sandwich. It was delicious. The bread was warm buttery toasted, and the Lobster was like a chilled lobster salad with large chunks of real lobster meat served with a side of home made chips . #mustTry !
