Winco is my favorite place to shop!! I tell everyone about it, follow them on Twitter, everything. I will drive out here from 20 miles away (come on Winco, build a Laveen store!), and its worth it. They may not take credit cards, but who needs to put all that weight on their credit anyway? Debit, EBT (SNAP), WIC (if I recall correctly, but they have great stuff to use it on if Im right, and you can get awesome deals for your produce ticket), cash of course, maybe checks. Their prices are better than Wal-Mart, Safeway, Albertsons and Bashas, and the quality is better than almost anyone. The only way to beat Winco is if Frys or Sprouts is having a mega-sale. I have to admit, I have come across a few non-food items that are priced better elsewhere, but its not all that common. The bulk section is awesome, the produce is incredibly fresh, and everyone on the staff is nice and happy. Have you had their thick-cut bacon? Its incredible. Their store-brand items (i.e. generics) are better than most other stores generics, and a couple are better than the national brand. Winco has a gigantic selection, and they carry products that I cant find anywhere else (or that few other places have). The meat is great (sometimes the super-lean ground beef is on a deep sale), they have tons of cheeses, a bakery where you can get awesome birthday cakes, a wide selection of alcohol, and more! They have organic options, gluten-free options on some thing if you need that, sugar-free if you need that, all kinds of coffee, even pet stuff in bulk. They are really nice about returns (just keep your receipt), too. You have to bag your own stuff, but I dont mind because I prefer my own organization methods. They no longer give you a nickel for using cloth bags, but I still use mine so I dont waste plastic (Im bagging my own anyway, might as well). The only bummer is that theres no pharmacy, because I would love to give them my business in that corner. They just have over-the-counter stuff (again, great generics). I go to Winco 2-4 times a month, despite the distance from my home, and get big carts. If I had one closer to home, I would be in there all the time, and Frys would only see me during a mega-sale. Oh, and if you use the Ibotta app, its compatible with Winco. If you havent been to one of the Winco locations (Ive been to most of them over the years), you are missing out!! Get the quality, savings and selection that youve always dreamed of-- plus great staff. The place is huge inside (I daresay, it feels bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside--we spend so much time in there!), like a Costco, but you dont even need a membership to be there. You get better savings than Costco claims to have, and youre not obligated to buy abnormally large quantities.

Bulk prices on non-bulk sizes. The prices at WinCo are perfect for our familys shopping list. The store has always been well lit, clean, and the staff has always been friendly and helpful. While picking up some fresh fruit beside an employee restocking the same section, the employee pointed out wed picked up the Organic version (which would be more expensive) and wanted to be sure that wasnt a mistake - probably because shed seen that we werent making a point of selecting Organic for the rest of our fruit. Her phrasing friendly and helpful. Theres usually at least one employee busy stocking in the produce section. We particularly like the bulk foods area - we can pick up as much or as little breakfast cereal, nuts, pasta or rice as we need, and theres quite a bit of variety. Its nice to have options outside the standard grocery big name brands, and outside the standard grocery sizes. We also get our bulk coffee here; its a single price by weight for all of the options, theres quite a selection (probably twice as many options or more, compared to other stores), there are two machines to grind the beans right there in case you dont grind yours fresh at home. We havent bothered checking the name brand coffee section in the center of the store yet, just the bulk coffee section. In fact, we do most of our shopping along the outside wall of the store and have very few reasons to explore the inner aisles. Finally, I enjoy the check-out experience. Bag your own groceries to your own specifications, paper and plastic bags are provided, but it also has us finally putting to use all of the cloth and insulated grocery bags weve collected over the years but always forgot to bring back with us. Weve never had to wait in line to check out, and the cashiers have always seemed to be in a good mood. As far as weve noticed, brand name items remain cheaper at WinCo than at other locations (yes, even WalMart). All of our staff interaction has been friendly and positive, and we have no complaints. We both actually look forward to shopping here, and were ecstatic that theyve opened a location so close to our home now. Wed visit this location regularly anyway - theyre right beside our CostCo and we can bypass traffic between the two parking lots on the main road by using the one behind them.

I have never been so disgusted by the lack of proper customer service in my life. My mom and I came here last night around 10? We both have our own shopping carts. We go up to the registers to check out. The self check out is blocked off. There are 2 registers without lights on, but have an employee at each one. The first cashier appears to be closed. So I look at her and put my hand up trying to get her attention. She looks at me and shakes her head no. I then said "Youre closed right?" She said "Yes". So my mom and I proceed to the next register over. This ladys light is off as well, but shes the only person at a register. Theres a lady in front of my mom and shes getting her groceries ringed up. My mom puts her groceries on the conveyer. Mind you, shes got about 10 items on there already. The cashier shoves my moms groceries down the conveyer, yelling "I said Im not checking out anymore people!" And slams that grocery separator thing down then goes "Ugh!!!" My mom and I looked at each other and I just left my basket full of groceries there and walked off. My mom left all her groceries on the conveyer belt and the rest in her basket there as well. I was so pissed!!! Leaving the parking lot, I spotted the lady in front of us and asked if she got her groceries and she said yes. She told us that the cashiers were upset because whoever was supposed to relieve them wasnt there and they were in the middle of a shift change. Ok. Thats understandable, but someone could have politely stated that and asked if we could have waited a moment while they figured something out. Not just have us standing there carts full of groceries and no registers open and then be so rude like that. I will never shop there again! I should have gotten the names of the cashiers.

I have been giving Winco a try the past few months and let me tell you, I am not impressed! They are the cheapest grocery store chain... TRUE. They are employee owned... TRUE. But theyre customer service is terrible! I asked a guy to look in the back if they had something, 20 minutes later I go to look for him and he is helping someone else. His response, they didnt have anything. I didnt come and tell you because I figured you would move on after waiting a few minutes! Also, they try and pass off opened food and resell it! This would NEVER happen at Frys Food / Kroger! I bought an opened bag of Gummy Bears last Friday but noticed it was opened and they put a plastic hanger on it so they could hang it, they knew it was opened! When I tried to return it, the woman at customer service was acting like I was the one who opened it. I had to point out the plastic hook they glued on it to prove that it was like that when I bought it. THIS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL! Also, most of their cans appear to be seconds from the manufacturer as I have gone through 3 can different can openers in 4 months. Can openers when I buy them last me for 10+ years each! Bottom line, you get what you pay for! If you dont want to ruin can openers and you want to experience good customer service, Winco should be avoided!
