Avoid. Terrible service. Inconsiderate staff. Came in one day with my wife to purchase a Leatherman Leap for my sons birthday. I was kindly greeted at the door but after that nothing. I went to the back of the store and waited at the counter for the clerks in the back to finish with other customers. When they were done they walked pass me and assisted another couple that had just walked in. So we waited again. Afterward I called for the attention of one of the associates so I could view what was in the case. He tells me he has to head to the front but that the other gentleman will see me. So I wait again. When this other associate was done he walks right pass and begins to look busy doing some minial task. Im the only one there. As soon as a female officer is within sight this associate runs to her help, even though she didnt ask. I stand at that counter as one by one he addresses every customer who walks in accept us. Not a "hello". Not even a "be with you in a moment". 20 min. 30 minutes. Etc. All the while he sees us. He glances in our direction as if to see if we are still there. I send my wife to the car so she doesnt have to keep standing there but on her way out, visibly upset, she tells a manager about how we are being ingored and that she will never set foot in there again. Im still standing there and now this gentleman is calling people who are standing in line behind me! Literally behind me! The guy my wife talked to catches me as Im going out the door and tries to help but Im no longer interested and leave. And before you say "should have spoken up" mind you he spoke to every person within his line of sight accept me and my wife. Hope things have changed since the last time I was there but I know now my time and money are better spent at Bass Pro or Hoover Tactical.

The decorations are cool. Employees at the gun counter seem to be rude and obnoxious. Me and my son have been anxious about visiting this store to shop for guns. Never again as a young employee ask for my sons ID. So the employee now says do you know your 19. Of course he does and knows his rights to purchase rifles and own a carry permit. So said employee does not want to show him a glock. I said hey I am 44 can you show me the gun in question, and I show it to my son. He said let me check. He asked some one and they said yes. He handed me the gun and kept on explaining the rules for selling a gun. So I explained that I will buy the gun and give it to my son. So as he put it in my hand I felt insulted and embarrassed for my son. He may be young but knows so much more about guns than the kid selling them. Immediately I gave the gun back and said no thanks were going to the gun show where we can touch what we want to buy. Dont care to go back unless Academy Sports runs out of camouflage. Dont say I did not warn you the public.

Poor overall service. The company sent out a market wide flyer for a firearms sale. I went to the Hoover location to purchase one of the items. When I arrived I was told by the child working the gun counter that "we dont have any of those, we sold them all in the first hour we were open" There were two people working the counter, each firearm sale took 25 min, so they had 4 or 5 units of an item that they ran a market wide add for!! I was then told "no rain checks,first come first served" I feel like this was clear bait and switch tactics, get you in and sell you somthing else. I called the corporate office and a nice lady opens a "ticket" for me and says "we will contact you in 24 to 48 Hrs" That was 4 days ago , still no contact. I did take their Ad across the street to another store who price matches and bought the Gun !!!

Great selection of Browning Conceal Carry purses for women. I was not so impressed with the selection of Spideco or Benchmade knives (ie, out-of-the-front like Infidel or Pagan). Good variety of outdoors clothes for men and women. They carry Under Armour and 5.11 Tactical, among other popular brands. Nice selection of shoes for adults and children. Plus gear for outdoor sports, and YETI coolers and such. A bit pricey, but easy to find what you are looking for.

Love this place, it is filled with amazing people who are very helpful and know there stuff. Mark in archery made my life so much easier when I was buying my wifes recurve bow, and has even followed up to make sure she was still happy. They also price matched Academy when we decided to buy her glock. When it comes to guns, bows, or anything outdoors that my family does we will always and only shop Feild and Stream.

Huge store with fun display of taxidermied mammals. Great selection of everything outdoors with a nice emphasis on hunting. I am not a bow hunter but the display of compound bows and cross bow is impressive while watching people trying bows on a short range is fascinating. Prices are similar to Bass Pro (high) and even the sales on guns are higher than normal price at a locally owned Bessemer store.

I love the store and the atmosphere. Their ammo selection blows Bass Pro Shop out of the water. I think they COULD stand to have more employees. I have yet to be helped when walking around the store in about a half dozen visits. Its especially true at the gun counter. Usually only one person working. Picking out a gun isnt a fast process. When only one person is working youre left waiting.

Signed up for rewards when I purchased a tree stand. When I went back they lost my points and shorted me $30 in credit towards my next purchase. Not only that but they reduced the selection at Dicks because of this store. So the great service I got at Dicks is now useless because they never have what I need.

Im giving this place a 5 star because they had all I was looking for the people there were really nice and there prices were amazing. There would be places were the prices would be outrageous and there prices were just amazing. The best part is is that there store locations are very pleasant.

Drove down to check out their guns on Saturday. Only one employee in the guns and he was busy showing another customer every handgun in inventory. I dont expect the clerk to drop everything and wait on me but after 15 minutes of standing at the counter - at least acknowledge that Im there.

A young man named John in the firearms department was very knowledge and helpful. My wife and I both agree that he provided the best customer service weve gotten in any retail store! We will definitely come back to Field & Stream for our next purchase!

This store is good. Well organized and a great selection. I had some trouble finding staff to help me with a selection. In a world where brick-and-mortar suffers from online competition, service is critical, and it wasnt to be found here.
