This was my first time to an academy sports just went in to see what ammo prices were like. Ended up reasoning all through the store looking at all the cool stuff I never knew they had. Even got the idea in my head that I may buy a kayak after seeing them there. Store was very clean and they had a huge variety. I didnt interact with any of the sales people so I cant comment there but I would definitely go back to make purchases at a later date

Stay away from the gun department unless you want an over opinionated salesman who acts like hes put off by your desire for a good customer experience during your buying process. Go to Gander Mountain; there gun team is full of professionals that are there to help you make a buying decision and understand that spending 500-1000+ on an arm is a huge decision not to be taken lightly. And there selection is better.

The store feels cramped and overstocked. The shoe department is always busy and unfortunately a disaster. The gun counter always seems to have people casually chit chatting which is OK except when I need service it takes forever. Camping gear, boating, etc are all clean and well stocked sections. Checkout process is OK, Ill never understand why they have tons of registers and only have one possibly two opened.

Everyone Ive ever dealt with at Academy Sports have been great. They have an amazing selection of sporting equipment that rivals any other sporting goods store. Also, it seems they are always having some kind of sale on great sportswear, from polos to jerseys to accessories. Academy Sports is a place you could spend a couple of hours just looking around and having a good time.

I just spent $77 in cash for a pair of Nike shoes. Cashier was glum and didnt even say thanks. Since there are so many retail stores that carry Nike shoes, I will go elsewhere next time. Ive worked retail before and always ensured my customers knew the money they spent at our store was very much appreciated. Academy wont miss me, Im sure, but I wont go back.

I was looking for a new North Face jacket and couldnt find one. I asked a staff member and he told me look in the mens jacket area. It turns out they dont even carry North Face in the store so I wasted time trying g to find something they dont even carry. Please train your staff to understand the brands you carry for the department they are working.

Except for one rude cashier (a manager according to his name tag) Ive only ever had positive experiences here. We frequent the gun bar, camping, and the athletic departments. We make the drive to Academy several times a month and weve never been disappointed! Love this spot!

This place is decent. Never had a problem here. We were looking for Brooks running shoes and although they carry them in stock, they only had one color for each shoe model so the selection could be better but the prices are good and the associates have been pleasant.
