This REI seems slightly smaller than the Arden location, but the associates were so friendly and knowledgeable here. I went with a friend to buy a down jacket for a backpacking trip and the sales associate gave us so much great info on each type of coat and the pros and cons of each one. He didnt just try to upsell us to the most expensive ones but really helped us find the exact perfect jacket for our needs. We ended up learning more than I ever thought I could know about synthetic down, and we went home with a fantastic Patagonia down jacket which was even on sale. Then, when I went to buy a backpacking chair they were again super helpful and knowledgeable. I really appreciate that rei is dog friendly too.

Been going to this store for a couple of years now, both as a non-member and more recently with a membership. Service is always great, everyone was equally friendly and helpful in both cases. Nobody has EVER asked me whether I was a member or not until it actually mattered (when it was time to pay up and they had to enter my number into the register). Their prices arent always the best, but a few times a year they have sales and coupons that can be used to order from their web site and shipped to the store. Bike repair is excellent. Ive tried many bike shops around town and the folks at REI have been MUCH more consistently good with taking care of my machines.

Whoever said you have to be a "member" to get good service is FLAT OUT WRONG. There is zero membership requirements to shop at REI. The membership is simply an incentive for those who may spend a lot there to get a rebate. Ive gotten great service with and without a membership. I wouldnt take the review saying this falsehood seriously, it must be someone from a competitor trying to discredit REI. I dont know anyone who doesnt like REI. That review is bogus.

REI to me is like Toys are Us is to little kids! Lots of great outdoor sporting good items at a good price (especially if you get that one high ticket item on their 20% off special). The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Not much in the way of fishing supplies, though. This is more of a camping, backpacking, bicycling and alpine/Nordic ski store.

REI can be a little pricey, but I still come here because they have the hugest selection of quality camping/hiking gear. The member rewards plan they have is very nice and saves you some money each year. I think its something like 10% back once a year. It pretty much guarantees youll be coming back in every year to cash that "free" money in.

Sales people actually do the activities they sell products for and have informative opinions on the products. Members get a dividend, membership is 20, so if you spend 200 in your lifetime it is effectively free. Read your receipt for garage sale dates to get returned goods. Garage sales are fun treasure hunts.

Im prejudiced because some of my children worked at REI for years. None of them wanted to move on, but there didnt seem to be many options for careers that could support families. The employees are always pleasant and very helpful and the quality of the items sold is always very good.

Very disappointed that when it comes to service you have to be "a member" to get good service. Didnt know good customer service came at a price. Think they need to re-think this way of doing business. Ill be shopping elsewhere, where memberships and great customer service come free.

La EXCLUSIVE

Had a horrible experience , as it was my first time here. One employee was very nice to me. Believe his name was Fransico . I was being followed as if I was going to steal and also received dirty looks from some customers. Just really didnt feel welcomed in the store

Kid was super pushy about the rewards membership. So thats pretty annoying. Had a surprisingly small selection of knives which is what I originally came for. Found some decent Christmas presents though which saved this place from a one star review
