I took my 50-lb. collie mix into PetSmart’s pet salon for her first nail trimming of the year on Saturday, 1/4/2014. ***Big mistake going to PetSmart in Nanuet!!!*** As I walked out of the pet salon, I watched through the glass as the groomer attempted to lift my dog onto the table. My dog, who is 13 years old, is normally docile when she feels securely held. Maybe the groomer miscalculated her own abilities or my dog’s size, because the groomer, struggling to lift my dog, caused my dog to hit her head on the table on the way up, and blood started gushing from my dog’s mouth!!! I ran back and my dog was returned to me immediately, with the groomer telling me, “I think you should take her to the vet.” Gee, thanks for the tip! Too worried to care about the groomer’s lack of apology or compassion while my dog was bleeding all over the salon floor, I rushed my dog next door to Banfield Pet Hospital. They anesthetized my dog and cauterized to stop the bleeding quickly and efficiently. They concluded that my dog must have bit her own tongue when the groomer caused her to hit her head on the table. Then, the manager on duty stopped by to relay even better news about the groomer: she had told her manager that my dog’s mouth was already bleeding when we entered the pet salon, and that my dog never touched her grooming table. When I challenged her story (pretty angrily, as you can imagine), she changed her tune. Guess she was too busy abusing my dog to notice that I was watching. If she doesnt lose her job for being a careless, inept groomer, I hope she loses her job for being a liar! The manager offered to pay for the anesthesia and services to patch up my dog at Banfield, but NOT ONCE did anyone apologize for causing my poor dog to leave PetSmart Nanuet WORSE than when she went in. I had to carry my dog out to the car, and into the house. A day later, she’s still hugging the walls as she walks to her bowls. Do your dog a favor: get him or her groomed at Banfield instead of the PetSmart salon. Your dog will get out of the store still conscious, and be able to kiss you thanks!

We have had three bad experiences with these miserable hourly workers here (I dont know why we kept coming back) so save yourselves the trip! They completely shaved our bichon after we asked them not to cut him short - they cut his hair too close to his privates and we had to pay $190 to get him on antibiotics - they took 4.5 hours to finish him and I watched the girl pulling and smacking him as she was trying to shave under his armpits. Not to mention they never clean the hair off the floor and the place is filthy.

Ive been to Petsmart a few times and the fish are bad quality... Most of the fish I bought had a disease (ick, which is caused by stress) and ended up ruining up my healthy tank at home and Ive also been reading books on fish care and the staff obviously dont know what theyre saying. The fish are not healthy at all, because the fish are overcrowded and squeezed into a small, cramped space of water. I definitely do not recommend it and I suggest you save the trip.

Called ahead about a walk in appointment for a nail cut and polish. They told me come on in! Once I got there it took the young lady three attempts to get my phone number correct to pull up my info. Then she tells me a ten minute wait, which was fine, even though there wasnt a dog in the salon. I shop for a new harness and leash, only to return to the salon to be told they cant cut my dogs nails tonight. Waste of time, thanks for nothing.

Great shopping experience, bad grooming experience. I have an easy going husky, who normally has no trouble going to groomers or vets. After the first time grooming, my dog was terrified & pulled me out of there as soon as I got him back. Second time he refused to go in & started shaking when I finally got him inside the grooming station. I have never been back & have not heard anything good about petsmart grooming in Nanuet.

I feed a colony of free-roaming cats and I spend over $300 a month at this store I have always used a tax exempt number until this new manager came in and now he will not allow it I dont have any other choice but to use this store as they have the variety that I need but I do feel I need to voice my disappointment and confusion as to why he would do this. Has anyone else had the same experience at this store

Very informative staff. One lady (didnt get her name) helped me with suggestions about what food I should give to my bearded dragons. And the other day I went to buy some fish, and this gentleman named John guided us thru every single detail, do s and donts when getting a fish and tank, very honest and polite. 10! . Im very pleased with the staff and the store. I go almost every week.

The staff is friendly and I like that they carry many different kind of products for pets, but as far as grooming do not take your dog there. My pomeranians hair was cut too short, plus it was uneven. The groomers are very inexperience and do not seem to particularly care for what they are doing. I think petsmart needs to hire professional dog groomers

Pet smart is a much better than Petco, who did not have anything i was looking for my little baby. Also the service ar Pet smart is excellent and the prices are more than reasonable and the location is right on route 59 in nanuet. In closing, if you want the widest variety of pet supplies under one roof in new york visit pet smart!

Ive been on the phone for an hr getting transferred each time finally when someone answered they hung up. I just wanted to make an appointment for my dog to get a bath guys come on. I understand youre busy but dont treat your customers like they dont matter. I will take my business elsewhere from now on.

the store is decent. staff is useless. dont know what theyre talking about. multiple times Ive stood there waiting for a worker to actually come by and do their job, but usually lose patience after 15 minutes and go to the pet store across the street.

I dont use them for dog food anymore- I use Pet Nutrition Center-cheaper. For my guinea pigs I use Petco online. Petsmart used to send coupons to my email-since they stopped doing that I have stopped going there.

Seems smaller than other stores. When I place an o line order there is usually a long wait and they never have all items to complete the order so it turns out to be a complete waste of my time.

Horrible store staff know nothing they should shut all stores down. Animals in horrible conditions. If I could give a negative rating I would. Pet shops should be family owned not corporation.

Good shopping and great vet clinic, horrible grooming. My scotty looks like a mix of whale with poodle, nothing close to breed standards. I guess cheap does mean bad. Never again.
