I dunno how this place hasnt gotten any reviews yet. I like doing outdoors stuff but never really had a place to shop because I abslutely detest Gander Mountain. Gander has too high of prices, cocky ignorant employees (even worse in their Firearms department who make you feel like an idiot if you dont like that salesmans brand of gun) and overall just feels like an overpriced Wal*Mart. Cabelas opened, and if you compare parking lots, Ganders is rather empty now days. Cabelas is always busy, all times of the day. Their sales are amazing. Ive spent over 400 bucks in the last month and have saved a couple hundred just in sales. Their lures, reels, rods and a bunch of other stuff arent that much more than buying them on Amazon. Like the booyah spinner baits, youll spend a dollar more roughly at Cabelas but thats to be expected. My mother absolutely dislikes anything outdoors. Hates camping, hates fishing, etc etc etc. I took her to the store with me cause I had to buy something while I was in the area and she absolutely LOVED the way the place was designed. The atmosphere is just so fun. In the last month Ive bought a Shimano Stradic FJ light reel. St Croix light rod. Plano Guide 3600 fishing bag, Teva water sandals, and a bunch of lures. Their employees are really great too. They dont push you to spend more like they do at Gander. I told one employee I had about 300 to spend on a rod/reel and lures. He spent about half an hour with me going through rods and reels to find something I felt that was good in my hands and didnt try steering me to spend a bit more. Ended up telling me a reel I was eye balling wasnt worth the extra 50 to go out of my range so I could still get my lures and so forth. Ended up spending 280 on everything :D This is and will continue to be where I buy my outdoors stuff.

I went in for a sale on firearms and they ended up being out of the firearm I wanted (even though the website said they had some in stock). The flyer didnt say "while supplies last", so I asked 2 of the firearms people if I could order one. One said "no" and walked away. The second one I asked was much nicer and told me he wasnt sure but didnt think so because they didnt know when they would order them (or if they would). While in the store the website updated to none in stock. I gave the store the benefit of the doubt thinking I shouldve called in before coming and they were busy. A couple weeks later their website again said they had some in stock. This time I figured I would call in before traveling the hour to the store. Upon calling I was transferred to the firearms desk where I asked if they had the firearm I wanted. The firearms person said they did not. I told them that their website said they had them in stock. He then told me they may have some, but theyre probably not available because they had many claimed on "rain checks". I then asked, to clarify, that they did allow people to order that firearm. He said yes they did on this firearm. At this point they lost my business. I will purchase my firearm from a company that shows some consistency and competency on this. I was very unsatisfied with dealing with cabelas on this purchase.

This review pertains to my experience with the archery department. Saw online that Cabelas was selling the Center Point Sniper 370 for $250.00. Thought Id check the store to see if they have it in Stock at the Sun Prairie, WI location. I was walking around the archery location for about half an hour before I could find someone specific to that department. I was never asked if I needed any assistance until I asked myself for some assistance. The lady seem friendly at first but became very fustrated when she could not find the centerpoint sniper 370. She stated you can order it online since we dont have it here. I asked her what her thoughts were when comparing the centerpoint sniper 370 to the PSE Fang. She said they were exactly the same (She clearly did not know what she was talking about). She became condensending as our conversation continued. Im unsure why but maybe she probably felt offended that I asked her what her oponion was with the two bow?? Not the experience Id expect from a national sporting store. Im wondering if I should look else where for my sporting supplies in the near future?? Just putting in my 2 cents worth. Maybe itll help with the customer services at the archery department.

Shopped at several other Cabelas over the years. Great experiences and helpful knowledgeable staff. Not so at this site. Went to advertised seminar on Saturday Aug 29th on smoking food. Several people attending drove greater then 45 miles. There was much confusion on where it was to be held at the store and finally 15 minutes after starting time someone found where it was to be held. Only thing set up was a table with 4 bottles of sauce, some cookbooks and a pan of precooked meat. The presenter was not organized, unable to answer questions such as was the meat cooked on smoker or pellet grill, how long it took or what flavored chips used. (the meat of great tasting). I found it very unprofessional for an organization such as Cabelas and they should be embarrassed. Tried to talk to individual in charge of camping department but all he could say is "Im sorry" but the more I tried to discuss it I could tell the more he was irritated with my complaints. Not sure Cabelas will be a much better shopping experience then Gander Mt.

Been in several times and tried to get help at the firearms counter for various things. Almost every time they are understaffed and when staff is available they will ignore customers obviously in need of assistance. I wanted to look at a used Ed Brown 1911 today and the employees in the gun library blatantly ignored me in favor of their own conversation and proceeded to walk away without even acknowledging my presence or obvious interest in a potentially high dollar item. In addition to the chronic terrible customer service their staff is less knowledgeable than they should be in their product lines, I can never get questions answered about new reloading materials and when it comes to firearms themselves they will tell you almost anything to make a sale. Having years of customer service experience and a significant amount of knowledge in firearms from military experience, my own hobbyist interests and building/customizing my own firearms I can tell you these people do not have their customers best interests or needs at heart.

Outstanding customer service. Ryan and Jeff are both top notch employees who set the standard for customer service. Came in with very little knowledge about a compound bow I had bought. Wanted to get new cable and string installed. Ryan kept me informed throughout the process. When I came to pick up Jeff spend the time to walk me through all needed items, get some new arrows and make sure I was set and ready. A true class act that has won over a customer for life. Update- Bow blew apart 2 months after getting it back. Sent back to Cabelas who first harassed me about how I used it then re strung the bow and charged me again stating they do not have a warranty to their blow string. They admitted the string just broke but didnt know why. I was asked if I dry fired the bow 9 times then they just claimed thats what must have happened. Have not used the bow much since, nervous as hell to pull back on it after the string broke and the arms went flying around. Lowered to 3 stars from 5. A bit disappointing experience
