Came in for some Endlers and shrimp after hearing from a friend they have a pretty good selection. I browsed the equipment sections which were impressive then proceeded to the fish.. The endlers were beautiful and reasonably priced considering they are extremely rare in a store. The shrimp selection was meh.. It is summer and shrimp availability is super poor this time of year so no fault of the store. Problem came when I started to browse the rest of the livestock. I have never seen more cases of ich in 15+ years in this hobby. Now, I understand disease happens but when you have 3-4 tanks with a "we are not feeling well" sign with no obvious problems other than they were just shipped in.. meanwhile you have 10+ tanks filled with fish with more white spots than body color is just disgraceful. Is it5 that hard to take care of your fish or at the very least not sell them if they are sick? I was fully prepared to buy out your stock of Green Endlers, Galaxy Rasboras, Crystal shrimp and Cherry shrimp plus a ton of plants. At this point, rather ship in livestock than deal with any of this. Me and my 180, 125 and two 55 gallon tanks will go else were for supplies and new fish. Sad to see as I thought after moving to a Coastal state from the Midwest, I would see a much better selection and quality but I guess not. Two stars for the rest of the shop. Reptiles and small animals were well stocked and healthy. Birds could use some work though.. just saying.

I recently bought a cleaner shrimp for my 125 gallons tank at Sierra Fish and Pets. Turned out to be the most expensive purchase Ive ever made. It cleaned my tank pretty well, but not exactly the way I wanted it to. Two days after the purchase one of my paired diamond gobies died. Next day the other one followed, together with my pearl jawfish. Before I knew, my big swallowtail angel and coral beauty started showing signs of disease. My sailfin tang I had for years deteriorated in mere hours. Over $600 worth of fish already went down the drain and Im still desperately trying to save Achilles, powder blue and a pair of purple tangs. Then I remembered there was a really bad looking swallowtail angel in the tank they pulled the cleaner shrimp from... The problem is Sierra accepts sick fish from customers, but instead of having a designated tank to treat them, they put them in the shrimp tank to get the shrimp work on cleaning them. It works for ich, but not for other diseases, like extremely infectious marine velvet, which is what I apparently brought home with the shrimp. Knowing what I know now, I dont think I am ever coming back. Update: Both purple tangs and achilles perished, even copper treatment couldnt save them. That makes nearly $1,000 in lost fish, all because of one cleaner shrimp...

I have been having trouble, a lot of it, with my saltwater tank for the past 4 months. Although I have been following a very rigid maintenance schedule I still was not satisfied with the results and kept loosing corals and fish. After almost giving up on my tank, I decided to schedule a maintenance visit with Jonas from Sierra Fish and Pets. After almost three hours of very detailed and diligent inspection and re-arranging of the tank and rocks, I can finally see a true saltwater reef tank. I have to say in all honesty that the folks at Sierra are very knowledgeable and accommodating. The do look out for the customer and not for the easy buck on what they can sell to a person who does not know much. I have to say that many times the have ¨stopped¨ me from buying more corals or supplements because they did not think it was the best thing to do. I honestly will not hesitate to keep this guys on speed dial and will blindly recommend them to any person who needs and want to keep a healthy fish tank. I really want to thank Jonas, and Doris for all their help and I do recommend this store and this great team to anybody who, like myself, are in need of a honest and true advice on anything pet or fish related. Thanks a lot.

My favorite. I get so frustrated going to chain pet stores like Petco and pet smart that know nothing about the animals, especially fish. When I come here, it feels like family. Everyone is kind and willing to help. If I ask about a specific fish, they know what it is. If they dont know too much about it, theyll be honest and tell me, and they ask another employee, who is very knowledgeable. Unlike Petco, where they tell you to put goldfish in fish bowls and feed axolotls flakes. Another thing I like about them is their honesty. I went in to buy a honey gourami, and he led me over to the tank, looked it over and told me I should come back in a week or so, because the fish looked unhealthy and he didnt want to spread anything to my tanks. Unlike Petco, where they sell me an angelfish with colomnaris, tell me its healthy, and it wipes out my whole tank. Same with bettas. At petco they tell you its healthy and it dies a couple days later. Sierra is honest. Shop here!!!

I stopped by today not even exactly knowing the questions to ask in considering a pet for our daughter. Luckily, I came across Jerica who was absolutely amazing! She was so knowledgeable and so passionate about animals, no wonder she was such a help to me! She knew and loved all the animals and saw each of them as individuals. She answered my questions as they arose, gave me resources to further help, was not opinionated or apathetic but completely open and honest with me, and gave me not only a deeper love and fascination for the animals but understanding to see how they might fit into our family. I kept expecting her to need to leave but she stayed with me as long as I needed. I have never experienced customer service like this before and usually just try to go where the deals are, but for the experience I had today, I will most certainly make this MY pet store! Thank you Sierra pets and thank you, Jerica! I will recommend you as much as I can!

I went in today with my son and his leopard gecko who was sick. We walked in and were greeted Tonie. We had the gecko with us. She looked at him and offered up some great suggestions on how to help. His tail was dry and he wasnt eating and he wasnt pooping. She gave us the steps to help with our situation, Very educational and very friendly. Also she gave us a name to a vet just in case he wasnt getting any better. We had usually gone to Petco for our needs bc it was closer to home. But when we went in they offered no help and didnt even know where a vet for reptiles was. From now on will be getting all our supplies for our pets at Sierra. I felt so helpless when my son was so sad about how sick his lizard was but Tonie gave us piece of mind and we felt great coming home and taking care of him. Plus she told us to call and let her know how he was doing. Just a great experience. Thanks )
