If you’re reading these words, allow yourself to be buoyed, and encouraged. You’re on the right track, and rightfully investigating how SCG (Seattle Coffee Gear) may help resolve what arguably may be one of the more difficult decisions of our lives. If, like us, your family has decided to replace/upgrade or even buy anew, I believe you will find SCG to be an ally in your research and discovery. While the Choices involved are numerous, the good news today is we have MANY Excellent choices available, at least relative to five or six years back. The Bad news, perhaps, is that we have MANY Excellent Choices available, possibly complicating and compounding your decision processes, and for this reason I wish to emphasize my belief you’re on the right track if your research and selection criteria includes a conversation with SCG. In making our recent purchase for ProSummer Espresso machine, we set out to invest in replacement machine we hope represents our last purchase, knowing each of the previous machines were successively more expensive, but ultimately not worth repairing. Nothing wrong, per say, with each of the predecessors. Rather, our tastes and expectations continue to evolve, as the choices available continue to improve. Suffice it to say we decided invest more than our original budget to insure satisfaction into the foreseeable future, but the ‘cost’ of this was an associated agony relating to making the ‘right’ choice. Put another way, we spent more on our purchase than I did on my first car, and the decisions involved were easily more agonizing, and thus more difficult to resolve. In summary, we had many Excellent machines, manufacturers, Value added Retailers, and research related information to choose from, but finding one we could trust and rely on for the initial purchase and, more importantly, for the long term service and warranty support became critical to our purchase, and we feel grateful for the help, and service, received from SCG, while confident they will be available to us in the years to come. Would we have done anything differently? Would we have any qualms about Recommending their knowledge, support and assistance to others? To both questions, a resounding “NO”. Do I have time for social media, or otherwise feel inclined to encourage you in your difficult decisions? Again, Same answer. However, we find ourselves indebted to SCG, and grateful for their willingness and understanding to assist and serve our family, now and in the future, thus I feel compelled to say thank you. Job Well Done. Now isn’t that something good to read and, or, write about? Gratefully offered, From proud Rocket R58 Owners, Eric, Grete and Hannah (Sept.11, 2014).

Our Saeco Odea Giro broke after three years. We decided it would be better to buy a new machine and trade-in the old one. A Latte Hotte in Glendale, CA sells new machines and takes the old ones in trade. We decided to buy a new Jura C-60 from them and got a 10% discount! Seven days later, I still hadn’t even received a tracking number from them. They explained that they drop ship orders directly from Jura; that Jura must be a little busy this time of year. I cancelled the order. I went on line and called Bed Bath and Beyond. They had the Jura C-60 for 20% off plus tax but they didn’t have the Jura in stock and they’d have to get it from the factory, another 7-10 business day wait. Fortunately I found Seattle Coffee Gear and I called them on a Saturday. They had the unit in stock, they matched the 20% off offered by Bed, Bath and Beyond with no tax! Since I didn’t have to pay tax, I decided to buy two-day shipping. Our new Jura C-60 arrived on that Wednesday. Two $10 off coupons to purchase additional supplies for the machine included in the price! Got the old machine repaired in Chicago at Mati Coffee for $185 and had it sent to our son and daughter-in-law for Christmas in another city. They were so thrilled! Love the new machine, loved the transaction and would highly recommend doing business with Seattle Coffee Gear. It’s a no-brainer, a win-win especially if you have a Bed Bath and Beyond coupon. If you want coffee equipment, go to the city that is known for coffee and that’s Seattle!

Highest recommendations! I had a wonderful experience purchasing an espresso machine and grinder from Greg. He is super knowledgeable, friendly, funny and patient. He walked me through various details on machines as well as grinders. I was hesitant to bite the bullet and buy a machine fearing that I would not be able to make lattes that tasted even as good as Starbucks (my very low bar), but with the right machine I am now able to make better lattes than even my favorite places (e.g. Zeitgeist). Greg also gave us practical advice on grinders - which ones customers are the most happy with. I also bought an extended warranty on the espresso machine through SCG. Ive been in the store several times buying beans (they have a wide selection of great beans, such as as Black Cat). Kyle and Mara were also very helpful in tips on how to pull and shot and froth milk. One thing to keep in mind is you are likelyare going to need to calibrate your grinder when you get it home if the grind is too fine (as mine was) - I had to watch the Baraza video to walk me through it how it is supposed to sound as you calibrate it - and also expect that you may waste coffee when you switch to a new bag of beans - need to adjust the grind for the shot to fill the shot glasses to the line in 25-30 seconds (19 g of coffee). Check out Whole Latte Love on You Tube on help on pulling shots and frothing milk. SCG also has some great videos online.

The coffee pot rates 4 stars, The package of coffee that came with the Moccamaster was pretty good so I ordered another package with the gift card that came with the coffee maker. The Moccamaster replaced my $25 Mr. Coffee. The coffee is better, but not 10 times better as the price differential might suggest. The Mr. Coffee makes it hotter but the Moccamaster is hot enough, and the absence of a hot plate is a big improvement after the coffee sits for an hour. It stays hot enough about an hour or a little longer. The coffee that came with the order is Veltons Twilight Dark Roasted. Its good, somewhat milder than Costcos Columbian Supremo that I have been using. A couple extra measures of grounds brings the strength up. Costcos coffee (already ground) costs about $3 a pound. Veltons is $15 plus about $7 shipping. I was satisfied with the Mr. Coffee and Costcos Columbian Supremo but theres no question that the Moccamaster and Veltons coffee are a step up in flavor. The Moccamaster made Costcos coffee taste better too so I have to decide if the Veltons is worth $22 a pound vrs. $3. One unintended consequence of buying the pricey Moccamaster. I figured that if I am paying that much for a coffee pot, I should get out my grinder and start grinding the beans every morning. Its a nuisance but freshly ground coffee does smell stronger, and taste is almost entirely smell.

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE...My husband and I ordered a Saeco Aroma espresso maker from Seattle Coffee Gear. When we received the machine, however, the water reservoir had pieces broken off and was cracked in multiple places. When I called their customer service department and explained the problem they said they would be happy to replace the machine and we would have to send them back what we had received. Well, we had been so excited to receive and use our espresso maker that knowing that we would now have to pack it all back up, ship it back and wait to receive another one was very disappointing. We asked if there was any way that we could just have a new water reservoir shipped to us. The customer service rep was extremely helpful and said that she would see what she could do. Within hours, she had emailed me to notify me that they would, indeed, ship us a new water reservoir with no more action necessary on our part. We received the new part within a few days. Knowing that Seattle Coffee Gear is just a distributor of this product and not the manufacturer, means that the machine could have been damaged before they even received it, so for them to replace the part was most likely at their expense. They absolutely went above and beyond to please their customer and did it quicker than we even could have hoped for.
