We visit local coffee shops and support small businesses in our community on a frequent basis. We decided to visit Three Ships since we have frequented Badass and Java Surf often. On our first ever visit this morning we were looking at the menu when the person behind the counter first reprimanded my husband for flipping over the current menu to see if anything else was on it; to be specific she stated "Oh give me that, dont turn that over that is an old menu" in the process of pulling it from his hand. That was the first strike, the second was when we were looking over the menu and she rudely proclaimed "Im going to help these customers that were here for a while so if you could move out of the way Id appreciate it." To many this may seem polite however we have both worked in the customer service industry with my husband working in the restaurant industry as a manager and owner for years. This was a very dismissive, rude gesture and you can be assured we will not be providing our business to Three Ships in the future which is unfortunate for us since we never even got the pleasure to try. There are much more professional ways to handle this situation that would have kept us within the establishment and encouraged us to give it a try.

For those with an anathema for corporate coffee, this is your lighthouse in the storm. The bean reigns supreme for the team at Three Ships, this is one of the best cups of coffee youre going to find in the region. From onsite roasting, to an inspire selection of serving methods, youll find the perfect cup brewed right here, in one of Virginia Beachs cooled neighborhoods. The buildings vibe and neighbors make you feel like youre part of an authentic experience there, they you really are supporting the little guy. And boy does the little guy serve up some BIG eats. Fluffy and delicious biscuits and homemade hand pies would be reason enough to swing by, if the coffee wasnt so dialed in!

Youll think youre in Seattle! The handpies are exceptional. Flaky crust filled with goodness. I had a broccoli and cheese with mushrooms, and it was delish! I enjoy the atmosphere, the decor is on trend without being pretentious--and the coffee is really good too. I have only gotten the house blend roast so far, but Ive seen others get espresso and fancy frozen coffee and really enjoy it. The espresso is done the Euro way, with the glass and copper carafe, and it is an impressive look when you watch someone make their cup just the way they like it.

Awesome place with great outside seating in this super cool vintage building housing other hip businesses. The interior is filled with cool old ship and sailor related items! The staff friendly and stylish. Great drinks I had a horchata berry iced latte so good! Next time I tried a cold brew cant remember exactly what but great flavors! I walked over from my hotel on Atlantic and 19th so go get some greAt local coffee! Def using local ingredients.

Without a doubt in my heart this is the best coffee shop in Virginia. Not only do the baristas have excellent knowledge on coffee and its origins, they roast the coffee in the back and you can physically see it. They also have tremendous skill making drinks talking and giving excellent customer service. If I lived closer I would submit an application immediately because I love the place so much.

Its a unique and artistic vibe perfect for meeting up with friends or stopping to savor a high quality coffee. Whimsical details like striped paper straws added to the overall experience. Fun yet simple menu, including: Cold brew coffee on tap, kids "cappuccino" drink (made my kids feel like they got a treat like Mom), and my Avocado on brioche was aaaamazing. Highly recommend.

This local favorite is very wheelchair friendly and they really pay attention to their ingredients for drinks and food. They roast their own coffee in the back, and they usually choose a medium or lighter roast for their pour overs. The kind of place that makes me want to return so that I can try other items on their menu.

Best coffee coffee in the Virginia Beach area - including, Norfolk, Hampton Roads and Newport News . And, youre in luck! They roast as well! Take their delicious coffee beans home with you so you can enjoy their full bodied or light with cocoa notes cup of Joe whenever your heart desires!

My favorite coffee in Hampton Roads! They roast their own beans :) Their shop is cute and ship themed with interesting art, they sell coffee making gear and even have classes occasionally, and have a nice outdoor seating area. The food they serve is small cafe style eats but very good.

I cant say enough good things about this place, its coffee, the food, and the staff. Go if youve never been and come back if you have only been once. Handpies - Brie, prosciutto & jam grilled cheese - Bacon, egg & cheese biscuit - oh yeah and great coffee - Its all great

Craft coffee, done with special attention. These folk love their coffee, and it makes all the difference. This is handily the best coffee in Hampton Roads. Try the Horchata and dont be fooled by the low price of the bag of Steady Hand beans, its my favorite.

This is an amazing local coffee place with so many delicious options! You can get a cold brew or espresso of the same coffee and truly taste the quality of each. This is the perfect place for your morning cup o joe or your afternoon pick me up!

I started with three ships when they were going to food truck rodeos in a trailer. Eating their delicious ham biscuits and local roasted coffee. Then several years later they are in a new building still roasting and pouring wonderful coffee.

Wonderful earthy but complex tones underly the flavor of their coffee. The store has a rustic vibrance that makes the whole experience wholesome. Did I mention, their home made biscuits are taste angels doing moonwalks on your toungue?

I loved these guys before they had a shop. I loved buying beans from them at their shop, as well as drinking the coffee they brewed. And Ive been buying their beans from Okinawa, Japan for a year and a half. They are my happy place.

Had a deliciously smooth pour-over of their Ethiopian blend. Coffee is fresh roasted in store and served fresh. Liked it so much I bought a bottle of cold brew for later. Definitely recommend if youre in the Virginia Beach area!

Great coffee, food and atmosphere. I had an iced almond milk latte and cheese and egg biscuit. The almond milk is homemade. Delicious! The biscuit was also very good. I love this place and will definitely return again and again.

Great spot for a coffee and a quick but delicious bite to eat. Coffee is world class, and the food was inspired and delicious. Do your self a favor and check out this great little spot on 19th St. near the Oceanfront.

Great coffee roasted in house. Tried the spinach hand pie and it was amazing! Despite their unusual busyness (special event nearby) we were served quickly by friendly knowledgeable staff. Will definitely return.
