Totally unhappy with the store grooming policies. The last time I took my fur baby (a short haired chihuahua) in for an appointment (bath & nails, but no grooming) that was scheduled on line for a 9:00 am appointment with a specific bather, I checked her in before her scheduled appointment time (about 10 minutes before 9) and was told by staff there that they just saw my groomer coming in. So I left my fur baby there and told them I would be shopping close by (it has never taken more than 1-1/2 hrs. for them to perform this service for me in the past). When I returned 2 hours later, they had still not completed her, and I waited in the store and spoke with not only the grooming manager, but also to the store manager, and I was advised that my fur baby was not the first one checked in for the 9 am time frame for the same groomer so she was not done at 9 am as scheduled. When I spoke to the managers, they both advised me that store policy nation wide is that more than one pet can be scheduled with the same groomer in the same time slot and that this is the reason they give you a 3 hour window. So, dont expect your fur babies to be treated as special since they dont even get an individual appointment slot. By the way, I also contacted the Petsmart Customer Service line to see if this was, as I was told, a nation wide store policy, and I was advised by them that it was not - that each grooming salon can make up their own policies. Because my fur baby is not special enough to deserve a designated appointment time with a specific groomer, I will take my business elsewhere where she is special enough that she will be seen in an appointment slot that does not have to be shared with others. I will take all of my pet needs, grooming and otherwise, to another pet store.

I came to this PetSmart to buy a betta and was immediately taken aback of how poor the conditions were of the betta fish display. All of the water was filthy and there had to be at least four or five dead fish that had clearly been sitting there for a while because the water was murky and yellow. We finally chose my betta based on the fact he was the only one that appeared to be moving and lively but we noticed white, fluffy particles attached to his tail and floating around in the water. There were also holes in his tail and it was drooping more than some of the other betta fish. When we were checking out the cashier didnt say a word to us as she held my fish up and examined him before giving me a look and telling me I should probably go pick another fish because this one was about to die. I returned the look before another salesperson told me hed be fine. Upon further research we concluded my betta had both ick and fin rot which is usually caused by poor water conditions for long periods of time. We went to Petco this time and bought the correct medicine for him and no thanks to this poor excuse of a pet store, my betta is very much alive and well ten months later. I wish I was exaggerating this. I bought my first betta from a PetSmart in Richmond and the betta were clearly well looked after and cared for as were all of the other animals in the store. I hope the management of this particular store makes some massive changes.

I live an hour away, over 70 miles, from Petsmart in Roanoke. Me and my family traveled there on a Monday in order to get some fish, tank set up, hermit crabs and bird accessories due to our area not having such things. I bought a hermit crab for my 10yr old son for his birthday. The lady getting the things for us would not let my son even see it for a minute when he asked repeatedly, Can I please see my crab so I know thats the one I want, It was late in the evening, we were told the fish only had an hour of air and we live an hour away so we had to rush home. Therefore, we didnt get a chance to really look at anything. When we get home my son is all excited he can finally see his crab and as soon as he picks it up the legs literally fall out of the shell. So it had to be dead when we bought it. The next day I travel yet again the hour trip....over 140 miles round trip to return the dead crab and get another one. The one I picked out would not move either when I got out to my car. I went back in, the lady was very rude. Said it is alive just not active. I said can I please get a different one that is active, this is for my son. she just shrugs her shoulders. I come home, my son is not happy that its not active. Then an hour later the catfish we also bought Monday dies. So now I have to make yet another 140 mile trip back tomorrow toreturn the dead fish. I wouldnt recommend buying any of the pets or fish here at all!

We made an appointment at the groomers days in advance because of how booked they were. When we arrived every grooming table was taken and three dogs were waiting. It took the associate 10 minutes to even acknowledge our presence. While we were standing there a gentleman came in to pick up his dog and it took them almost as much time to greet him. And it wasnt even the girl at the front desk, but a groomer in the very back of the room that asked if she could help him! They were very helpful allowing us to postpone the appointment until later that day to retrieve our forgotten paperwork, and Im thankful they did---we began calling other groomers in the area who quoted us $20-30 less than Petsmart---almost half the price! When my husband called to cancel the appointment he was met with a, "Hullo...whaddit ya say?" They seemed over booked and over worked and we will be going elsewhere, where our dog can have a less stressful and more positive experience.

Not only was Dr. Harre unprofessional, she and her nurse are incompetent. I brought in my 4 mo. old rabbit because he was acting funny. The nurse could not figure out how to check his temp. and then they told me they could not figure out what was wrong with him without running "necessary tests" which cost over $$300! I agreed for them to run the tests, and Dr. Harre stated that he was ok, just had like mild indigestion. I felt so stupid that I paid so much money when nothing was wrong, but as soon as I got home, he started acting worse. I called the vet and they said there was not anything they could do for him. He died 3 hours later, and when my husband called Dr. Harre, she said that she would not refund our money, and that if we wanted, she would give us a "free" autopsy. What a gold-digger!!!!!!!! This woman is not sympathetic to animal welfare and is just plain heartless! Do Not go there if you love your pets!

Awful! So so awful! They tipped my poor yorkies ears which I did NOT ask for nor sign for. As if her ridiculous looking cut was not enough, she bled from those spots on her ears for days after because they had cut her poor little ears. She had scabs and whined for weeks after any time I touched her ears. When I confronted the groomer when I picked her up she just shrugged her shoulders and said it was standard to tip yorkies ears. When I pointed out that she was bleeding to the manager she blamed my dog saying she probably was uncooperative...I would be too if someone was cutting into my ears! The manager refused to refund my money, offer a discount, or even apologize for the groomers negligence. I havent stepped foot back inside since nor do I plan to ever return.
