I usually really enjoy the friendly people and service at the Chesterfield Mall B&N, so todays experience was an unexpected disappointment. The saleswoman at the register was polite, but downright frosty from the start. She eyed me as I shopped, and eyed my purchases as she rang them up. I am a teacher and have a couple different membership cards. I didnt volunteer the intended use for the items that I bought--classroom or personal; I just offered my teacher card. But the woman then freely chirped up with critical, unsolicited advise regarding which membership card I ought to use. I feel that B&N, one of my favorite places, ought to bring the warm sweethearts who usually "man" the checkout counter back to the front of the store and find another task to keep this lady busy elsewhere. Im giving the store three stars, considering Ive had much better experiences there in the past.

I went into this book store looking for a specific genre of books/materials. I attempted to search and find it on my own. Next, I decided to ask for help. First, I try the front desk associate. I stand in a awkward place outside of line. She never took a break to speak with me. Second, I went to the customer service desk and he acted as though Noone existed but what he was doing. Third, I saw the manager whom I greeted and was immediately silenced with his expression of Ill be with you in a moment " and walks right pass me. Then, he speed walk to the front and never again came back to acknowledge my presence..Finally, I came to the conclusion that there will be no customer service provided to me and I also dare to conclude that it may have something do with me being a person of color. Nevertheless, I left the store.

I went to this store for a particular reason and ended up purchasing more than I intended to, but how can you help it when youre shopping for toddlers? I found the staff to be extrememly helpful with offering suggestions about authors and different styles of a book to suite my childrens needs. I did not feel like the children were over stimulated by the toys and books, but that there was just enough of everything to hold their attention in the kids section. They each walked out with something they picked on their own.

Looking for a book. Website says they have it. Store cannot locate book. "Someone must have moved it." They must not have a process to go through and clean out their shelves on a periodic basis. "Bookseller"s response to me was essentially "Too bad."

Sometimes you just have to read a book!! I love browsing through the new selection of bestsellers and the business/entrepreneur section. They always have great new arrivals before they are available online!

Customer service is terrible, I asked where I could find a certain book and she said theyre in alphabetical order in a snobby way and went back to what she was doing, she didnt help at all

Great staff. Theyre super helpful when you ask for help, but leave you alone to browse if thats what you want. The cafe is wonderful as well and a good place to sit and read a book.
