It is hard, if not impossible, for me to imagine a more ineptly managed store. Popular areas, like the plumbing fittings, are a morass of confusion that is never touched by the staff. The popular fittings are invariably out of stock and it is impossible to complete even a small project without multiple visits. Stock is invariably a problem on the most popular items in every department of this floundering store. It is only two blocks from my office or I would never step foot in the door. The Home Depot website allows you to check stock before coming to the store, a principle a convenient feature, but in this case just misleading. Recently, they were out of the most common size of joists for 3 weeks, while the website continued to report 33 in stock. Every day, the staff would have been walking back and forth by that empty bin, but yet not a one of them took the trouble to correct the inventory. Recently, when the joists finally came in, I courageously decided to rent the store truck. My house is only a couple of miles from home, so it seemed like a low risk thing to do. Wrong! The truck is fine, but checking it in and out is a nightmare, and I dont use this world lightly. When it took nearly half an hour just to get the truck, I should have been quit then. I had the truck for about half an hour. After I brought it back, I waited ages at the service desk to be helped, and then I waited even longer for them to try and check me back in. After an hour of waiting, I told them that I could not take it any longer and I left. For all I know, I am still paying for that truck. I called the manager in the morning to clarify the situation, but he does not return phone calls. I guess that this store stays in business because there is no competition. The local Lowes is about 20 minutes away, and it is nearly as poorly run. A competently run home improvement store could run these guys out of business in no time. I sure wish that would happen.

in response to what someone posted before me, i think parts get mixed up in every hardware store. people just throw them back when its not the one they want and dont look at where they are putting it. but the staff ought to fix this. went in for a specialty light bulb the other day and there was a staff member in the area who offered to help me but he didnt really know any more than i did and spent a few minutes reading the labels on the shelves trying to find the right one. eventually i was like its this one and your sold out. went back a few days later they still didnt have it, i was in there another time looking for a piece to my garden hose and asked an employee who was just standing there watching the forklift? and his reply was "i dont really know where that would be this isnt my section" later found an employee who looked like he loved his job and he was happy to show me where it was (in the aisle the forklift was working, and it was blocked off so i couldnt find it) and he even showed me how to install it later passed through that section and the gates were still up but the forklift was gone. i asked an employee walking by if i could pass and she was like "yeah sure they sometimes forget to put them back" and im thinking, yeah it was that guy just watching the forklift, who didnt put it back, idiot. come to think of it that lady employee could have put them away too. i try to just go get what i need and get out, this store kinda sucks.

I have had two terrible experiences with this Home Depot. The first time was when I was looking to replace my kitchen floor. First, the staff member was very helpful in helping me choose which product I might need. When it came to getting the work done... the price kept rising and rising. He wanted to tear up the existing and then relevel the entire floor costing me thousands more than I needed to spend. In the end, I bought the material myself and hired a friend to do it for $250. Total cost $500... about 75% less than they wanted. Just recently I went there hoping to get some countertops. I stood there for 20 minutes looking at countertops and not a single one of the two designers even ackowledged that I was there. After approaching one, here was the conversation. Me: "Im interested in countertops." 15 second pause Me: "Sooooo, what do I do?" HD lady: "Which kind do you like?" Me: "I like the Corian, Aspen Mine." HD:" Oh.... you dont want those." 30 second awkward silence Me: "Uhhhhhh.... why?" HD: "They just arent that good." Then the phone rang and she answered it without excusing herself. I got up and walked out immediately. This store is terrible! When I went to the one across from Costco near 29, I was immediately greeted and was given a 10 minute one on one talk about all the options and choices. This HD is good for buying things off the shelf... but if you have questions or need to talk to someone.... go somewhere else.

I am giving this store 5 stars because the alternative Lowes is so bad. I have bought 4 major appliances in this past year, 3 from Lowes and one from HD. All 3 of the Lowes deliveries had major problems to include a wrong refrigerator being delivered then being re-delivered by a single person who could not get the thing in the house without me helping to carry it. I am 65 and shouldnt be carrying refrigerators. Another was delivered while I was on vacation a week before the scheduled delivery date which Lowes admitted was clearly on the delivery form. I got a freezer from Lowes that was special ordered and they couldnt set a firm delivery date when I bought it. They said they would call ahead of the delivery so I could unload my old one. No call, they just showed up unannounced. I got a washing machine from HD and the delivery was flawless. I also returned some other materials to HD without having the receipt, no problem. Now am a permanent HD customer.

Awful, store wide service. Treats customers needing help like shop lifters. I have a few minutes to spare to pick up a small Plumbing piece. On the way to pick that up I picked up an LED light bulb in electrical. It was a hard part to find and it sure looks like the part wasnt in stock. After 5 minutes of not finding the part, as Im looking around to see if there was someone from Home Depot who could help me (ha, Im so funny. Help @ home Depot who have a clue?) , I see this flat screen TV with me pictured on it , and it flashing " recording in progress." Theres a picture in picture of some security dude watching the screen, and me. So instead of a screen with a button that says" looks like you need help, can we send someone? ", Im treated like a shoplifter. And home Depot shows theyd rather spend the $ on a person to reduce shrinkage than helping customers. Nice. I dropped the $20 LED bulb in the aisle and left. Im off to Lowes.
