While for big ticket items I might reluctantly trudge over to Lowes or, if ABSOLUTELY necessary, to Home Depot to save our household a little money, for me and my wife its totally worth paying a little more for the familys everyday home and hardware needs, given that youre pretty much guaranteed to find what youre looking for here, in addition to receiving courteous and knowledgeable service. And if they dont happen to have what you need, theyll be happy to try and special-order it for you. But the reason that I decided to sit down and share my enthusiasm today is because a gentleman -- and I use the term advisedly -- in the Bethesda stores paint department spent a good 45 minutes on 6/28/14 painstakingly matching a small painted wall plate that Id brought in, adding a few drops of pigment at a time and allowing the sample to dry until he was happy with the match. And yesterday I finally, Im ashamed to say, got around to applying it to the repairs that Id bought it for and... OMG.... it blended-in so perfectly that youd never know that the wall was patched -- a seriously impressive feat, as anyone thats ever tried to match paint colors by eye will know. So I thank and salute Stroniders in general, and whoever was overseeing the paint dept. on that day in particular!

OVER PRICED PRODUCTS & TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. As a Bethesda resident, Im all about supporting local small bizs, with the exception of Strosniders. Ive had terrible experiences shopping here! The customer service was poor overall, but I was mislead by representatives (on 3 separate occasions) to purchase (higher priced) items that had no relevance to my home project. I was disappointed about being mislead, particularly because they seem to pride themselves on quality customer care. Walking into this place is a nightmare. Unorganized items scatted around floor to ceiling with virtually no walking room between the isles. Not a good place if you like orderly and spacious shopping. Everything single item is marked up- which is fine if you can offer the help that youd expect from a smaller location, but theyve missed the mark. Im happy to shop elsewhere.

The staff here will go out of their way to help you will just about anything. I was trying to configure a mounting system for fog lights on my truck. When I couldnt find the tool I needed in the store, an employee actually let the manager know he was heading outside and, with his personal tools from his car, helped me adjust the part. Prices are fair, selection is great/unique, and you support the small businesses that employ proportionally more people. *NOTE* if you are reclusive and like to be "left alone" while you shop, this is NOT the place for you! Customer service and offering of assistance is pervasive throughout the store. But most people like myself are appreciative of the effort they put forth.

It is no surprise that this is one of the best retailers in the area, but that they consistently provide the most useful service and take their time to do it. I want to compliment James here since he was the one who helped me solve a problem of not having the right piece of hardware but James "manufactured" the solution which worked fine once I put it in place. This is why I do NOT shop at large stores with no sales assistance and if they do have "associates" they do not know their products. Strosniders is the best!

I just got back from Strosniders a few minutes ago and I had a really wonderful experience. All the staff were very courteous and helpful -- probably 3 of them offered help while I was there. I had a question about my cars front license plate bracket and one of the staff members actually went out to my car to see what he could do for me. Great store, great selection!! Will definitely go back for any hardware needs!!!! Or for other things -- there is more than hardware at this place, folks!

I went to Stronsniders Hardware following Snowzilla 2016. Not only did they have all the basics in stock, we were desperate for a new snowblower for our commercial property, since ours broke in the midst of the storm. They had an enormous three phase system, which flings the snow about 30 feet. The price was competitive and they even loaded it on the truck for us. The team at this store is great and with Jim at the helm makes it a very positive shopping experience.

I had been to 3 other hardware stores before this one in Bethesda looking for a specific item. I called ahead and they said that it was available on the shelf. I drove there right away, fought for a parking space, and my item was not in the store. I spoke with an associate who was absolutely no help. Then with a manager who said he would call me when the item arrived. Still nothing. I will never waste my time with the Bethesda Strosniders again.

This is a very special hardware store. If you need to talk to an expert about fixing some part in your house, this is the place. If you want a special furniture paint that will turn a cabinet into an heirloom piece, this is the place. You need a unusual key made, this is the place. The second part is you do pay for the service, but its worth it. A real gem of a old fashioned hardware store for the residents of Bethesda.

I used to get here a lot with my Father picking up that extra thing we needed to finish the job. I just enjoy walking through to see all the stuff they have. The are packed with just about everything and group of people that still knowing how to fix things enough to help you. The parking lot can be packed sometimes but if you go up the far right (facing the store) area of the lot you can usually find a spot.

Strosniders is fantastic, period. The selection of items and helpfulness of the staff make most trips very fast and fruitful. Ive bought a large item (air conditioner) and small items there before. The staff can quickly run through your problem and recommend the right tool at the right price as a solution. They also deliver, which came in handy when I bought the air conditioner.

I give them a one star. Terrible customer service! I asked for a price quote for my car keys and they made me wait 45 minutes which is unbelievable. 3 Guys came on the phone asking why am I calling and I had to explain to them over and over again. Also the employees were extremely rude on the phone. Terrible customer Service.

They are good and have everything. I thought it might be a small store when I found on Google Maps, but when I went there... I thought I made a wise decision to walk there which is half mile away from me, rather than driving about 6 miles to a "Home Depot". Good customer service and wide range of product availability.

Its the perfect place to find that odd shaped bolt or bring in a broken faucet cartridge for replacement. The very best service from a hardware store ever! Tempered with higher prices than the big box stores, so we dont go there for all the materials for a major remodel.

Service and selection are everything here! I often feel like Goldilocks when I arrive with a vague idea of what Im seeking, and the staff patiently walks me to two or three scattered items that could fit the bill, until I finally see just what I was after.
