this petco does not know hardly anything about their reptiles, specifically bearded dragons. I purchased a baby dragon from them and it almost died bc of the information the manager gave me. He told me to feed it crickets and mealworms everyday and said veggies were to be on occasion, when truthfully it is the other way around. I was told to buy a combo pack bulb set for $18 but it was a 60 watt set. Also, i was not told anything about getting a UVB light. Again, i was never told something, this time being that you need to spray your dragon throughout the day. I was told the dragon will lay in the water and absorb the water it needed on its own. Consequently, my dragon was on the brink of death when i decided to go to T&B reptile zone in Yorktown and they had me purchase the correct bulbs to use. And the saddest part is that the two bulbs i needed(100 watts) were only a $1 more than the 60 watt combo from Petco. Needless to say,but please go to the Reptile Zone for your reptile needs. I am very very disappointed in Petcos service and knowledge.

I am part of a facebook ferret group called Virginia is for Ferrets and I called there on 1/23/16 inquiring about a ferret with an eye infection. I heard about this sick ferret through a post in the group. The post didnt say exactly which petco the ferret was at, all i knew was it was in va beach. I called about 5 petcos in that area, most of the employees were pretty rude, and were too eager to get off the phone, some didnt even answer the phone. The employees at this petco, however, were very understanding and even went to check on their ferret to make sure he wasnt the one the post was inquiring about. I spoke with the manager directly without even having to ask :) i am very pleased with the customer service this petco provided me. I believe they truly care about their animals and customers! Thank you guys! :)

As a snake owner, I called to see if they sold feeder mice. On the phone, I was quoted a price of $2.25, almost twice as much as I pay at PETWORLD which is literally right down the street. Once I got there, the cashier looked at me like I was crazy and directed me to someone else while he rang someone up who came in after me instead of assisting me. Once I talked to the new guy, he went and got me one of the pet mice they have for sale. A small one. And rang me up for a price of $3.99. Four times as much as I pay at PETWORLD. Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. I wont be going back here again, hopefully ever. Disclaimer: I realize this probably sounds like a petworld advertisement, and maybe it should be, since I usually go there and this experience basically seals the deal for me on that.

PLEASE DONT BUY PETS HERE... Ive been going here for pet supplies only because I dont trust the care that the animals are given. I will never buy fish from this store and about a month ago I saw a pair of tortoises that were being neglected. They were in a glass aquarium which is bad to start with, the tank was only about 4× the size of the 2 torts combined which is basically nothing. Dirty water, no shelter, no space to walk, improper food source. When I brought up my concerns to the worker she told me that it was standard petco policy and she cannot deviate from policy. My vet told me that they refuse care for petco animals because they are so neglected. The only reason I shop here is for medicine or fish food because it is cheap.

Oct. 2011 While checking out my purchase, the cashier didnt hear my one question. She rudely informed me that she was deaf and that I no business treating her that way. Huh??? What way?? She got extremely nasty. I asked her to call the manager and she refused. I asked another clerk to call the manager. When I was speaking to the manager, the deaf clerk made rude jesters at the manager and me. My husband was with me and told the manager that we had done nothing wrong. Her name was Sheila or something like that. This clerk is a liability to Petco. Petco--you dont need clerks with THIS KIND OF ATTITUDE toward patrons.

1/9/2016.....just left hampton petco very discourage!! as my husband and i stood in front of the saltwater fish tanks waiting on anyone working could help us scoop up the fish and coral we picked out to take home.. Finality a young african american women ask us if we needed help?(Finally) she was so rude and very impatient. we only got to ask her one question then she disappeared into the back some where. left us just standing there! we left. we will never shop there again. Denbigh Petco was very friendly and Helpful!!!!!

I come here to get feeder mice for my ball python. Ive been thinking about get a slightly larger rodent like a hamster, but they tell me i cant do that(which is not true, ball pythons will eat most rodents. I believe they keeping saying that due to personal morals about feed g one animal to another). Ive never felt like there was an issue of cleanness with this store nor do I feel like there is any repugnant smell. When I can flag down an employee, they are normally helpful and polite.

Great selection but the store is dirty. There is pee everywhere. I come here weekly and there are never paper towels or cleaning spray at the clean up stations. Then i try to find someone that works there and thats nearly impossible. I can say the staff is nice.

The usual Petco Animal Supplies experience. Visited for regular purchases of dog food and other supplies. There is always a seasonal selection of pet products. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. The groomers are extra nice to animals!

Came in because my dog is a picky eater and a very nervous anxious dog. Ray helped me with some food and other things that will hopefully help him start eating before we need to go see a Vet. Wonderful and caring people.

I think this store is clean and the associates are very helpful and kind! Supply selections are pretty good. We have a bunny and toys arent easy to find. I do suggest a better hay selection as well as toys for bunnies.

I love the grooming salon!!!! They do an excellent job on my special needs dog. Noone can groom him without tranquilizers but they can and he actually likes them. thats enuf for me!

Absolutely love the staff at this store. Grooming is fantastic, Ariel always does the most amazing job with our dog! Always helpful and great customer service!
