WOW! Look at what 21st Century car buying has become. We had looked at a few cars at this location over the past few months and decided on one. I was looking at 3 cars almost identical to it, and had done my research. We were told this car was a "consignment" car, and they would e-mail the seller with our offer, and ask if they had a spare key, and the luggage compartment cover. Moments later, we were told their counter offer. (By the way, this was a CASH transaction.) Suddenly some guy in a NIRVANA t-shirt came out of an office and said that was the firm price no negotiation. I ask about the second key,(I also ask if they could get me a key at cost plus 10%) and the cover, and how about getting the car detailed since it was dirty inside. NO NEGOTIATION. Now the RANT was on, too much for us. So we left. Needless to say, Very Shook Up. The plan was to head to Delaware to look at another similar vehicle, similar price. This is 5 year old vehicle with 46K miles. A couple hours later, we get a call from the salesmen saying they would do OUR "meet in the middle" offer. No clean up of the car, no extra key, and no cover. The next day, after careful thought, we decided to get the car. For the most part we are happy with the car. I did find out it was NOT a consignment car, but an auction car. They could not have checked with the previous owner about the key or the cover, because it was not a consignment car. So, the dash has been modified, new dash part $350, I had a wiring issue to repair, and I get to detail my NEW car myself, and found a rather large dent in the door I have to deal with. They did have the gas tank full when I picked it up and I thanked them for that. This was only part of the experience. I am not sure why CarLotz could not be forthcoming and honest. And who was NIRVANA in a t-shirt running over the salesman. Buyer beware, it was a strange experience......

The staff were very friendly. Definitely no pressure to buy right then unlike Several dealerships I have talked to. Only recommendation is to clearly show damage in the pictures and raise your fee by $25 or something to run a vacuum through a car. I was disappointed to walk around the car and see a decent sized amount of paint scraped off the bumper that did not show up in any online pictures. You go in thinking the car has no damage only to find more than a scratch. Likewise for people who are use to dealerships I was surprised to find plastic bottles and various trash in the car that I would have to clean out. This is minor to the underlying value of the car, but you are the sales market and would make a better first impression if presenting a clean car. Just some business thoughts.

Overall, my experience with this company was amazing. From the time they answered the phone when I initially called until the moment I walked away with my new car! I believe I worked with Kevin and Wayne (its been 4 months so I hope Im right!) They were both great !! I had a minor hiccup with the service contract company regarding double payments as I came to find out a second account was accidentally set up. I called their call center in Richmond and for over a month I was angry as no one had refunded me my money until I met Joana. I want to thank Joana for not just ensuring my money was refunded, but following up with me via text with updates so I never had to worry. She also took the time to ensure this the second account was deleted permanently. Kudos to Joana!

My family moved overseas and had to sell our Mazda. Carlotz was recommended from a neighbor so I decided to give it a try. They were able to list the car with 10 times more detail than I would have ever been able to as well as listing it on websites that I never would have taken the time to use. The nominal fees were more than affordable both when dropping the car off and selling it. They were thorough, efficient and knowledgeable about how much to ask and what I should expect. Even though the car took some time to get sold they continued to encourage me to be patient. I was overjoyed once it sold. Thanks to the team in Midlothian for taking the car in and the team in Chesapeake for taking good care of it until it sold. Cheers from the UK! Corey

It has taken me a month to write this review because I wanted to be fair. I purchased a vehicle from Carlotz and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They really worked with my poor credit. However, a week after getting the car I discovered the AC system didnt work. Ive had to replace the compressor and thats an expensive fix ($800.00). Next, I had to get a transmission flush ($250.00). Its safe to say Im having serious buyers remorse. In the future carlotz should do a more thorough inspection of vehicles before accepting them from sellers. They have great staff, I just question the quality of the cars. I would only recommend this dealer if youre purchasing a really good warranty or is a mechanic because those repairs can get costly.

Took over a month and half to get the title. Couldnt drive myself to work because they simply wouldnt give me the title so i could register. Called every day at least twice, inquiring about it. Lied to by the staff every day over the phone, cursed out, hung up on, ext. Most unprofessional management ive ever seen in a business. It wasnt until i got a hold of one of the executives of the company that they would do anything about this situation. They didnt even bother responding to a BBB claim... dont expect anything less of the staff. Theyre helpful and friendly in person, but keep in mind this is 100% an act, worst people Ive ever worked with in my life, and Im ashamed i gave these people my money.

Worst place I have ever dealt with. I inquired about a car a month ago that was consigned and had a problem to be fixed. They kept telling me the car was taken off the website and was not. A month of dealing with them and having to call them constantly without giving me updates was the worst. Even worse then that they never called to tell me that the seller got the car and they no longer have it! Seriously consider this before coming to this place and dealing with people that have the incompetence to not care about their customer.

Absolutely the most professional non-pushy car sales folks Ive ever ever dealt with!! Guy was more than nice! I literally drove all 4 ford rangers to see what one I liked the best ! Now just waiting to see if the owners (consignment )will come down on the price to fit my budget a litter better, although I dont mind paying a little extra for professionalism and non pushy sales. THANKS ILL BE BACK WITH AN UPDATE WHEN I COME BACK AND BY THAT TRUCK THANKS MIKE
