-------------------------------------------------------- ---- Original Post 4/2010 (updates are below) Ive had very positive experiences with Romano sales and parts departments. When I was looking for a used Subaru, I started my search at Romano on their website. I submitted an email inquiry, and their General Manager (Borzou) called my cell the next day and left me a message to see if he could help further. I swung right in and talked to a salesmen (Bill Nye) for a couple of hours. I found a car I liked, and they gave me a decent deal on my trade-in rust-bucket beater. I got a great price for a Subaru CPO with new tires/brakes, and I got rid of my beater! The salesmen was willing to negotiate fairly, and was very cordial and open in the process. No shadiness at all. I will definitely go there again for my next Subaru. I cant speak to the service department yet, as I do all of my own work on my cars. Ive had really good experiences with the Romano parts department as well. Josh H. was respectful, and gave me some great advice. Ive had to deal with BMW dealers in the past on a different car, so Romano was a HUGE step up in how I was treated. -------------------------------------------------------- ---- Update 4/24/13 My previous review above was based on my experience buying my CPO 2008 Legacy at Romano 3 years ago. Since then, I have only had to use their service dept once for a warrantied wheel bearing, but that worked out great. No complaints here. Just recently, I helped my father buy a 2010 CPO Forester from Romano Subaru. Borzou (General Sales Manager) and Bill Nye again treated us with respect, courtesy, and gave us a great deal. There were no hitches in the process, and we had no complaints. Emails and phone calls were always responded to in a timely manner. Wed definitely recommend people to shop at Romano. Youll notice that its a really busy dealership, and theres a reason for that. -------------------------------------------------------- ---- Update 4/12/17 Another positive experience to add: I recently had my Outback in for an alignment and tire mount. They were pretty busy that day and running behind, but they offered me a loaner car in case I wanted to come back the next day to get my car. Ive never had a shop offer me a loaner car for such a small service. While I was waiting, I watched some very rude customers interact with the service writers. The customer/s were clearly in the wrong, but the Romano staff did a good job managing the situation and keeping things in the positive direction. And Josh H. continues to be awesome in Parts.

Called for more information on a new Subaru BRZ that they have coming in and the salesman told me they have a blue one coming in. Awesome! Living an hour away, I called the place to make sure the salesman Im talking on the phone would be there. Someone else picked up and said that the person Im working with is busy with another customer and will be available the rest of the day to help me. So I drove up there and no one bothered to help and as I went to talk to one of the managers they told me that the person Im looking for went home on sick leave. I asked for a different salesman and he told to come or call back and that only my salesman is the only person that knows information on the BRZ. Fine, Ill just call back. The next day I got a call from the person and he told me a nice little story how I will be the first in central new york to have this car and that the price will be 29,000, about 700 dollars over retail. So I told him no thank you I will pass on it because I have another dealer is offering one for less and taking my trade in for 16,500. He replied with "Dont be sorry, I have someone out of state that will buy this car and all I have to do is have it deliver to him from the port." Im like okay, good luck with the sales and have great day. Not even minutes later the same guy called back and said he will do 28300 on the car and take my trade in for 17,000 as long as I do a 500 dollar deposit. Not a bad deal I said myself so I went ahead with the deal. He told me he will call back to get my credit card information. An hour passes and no call or nothing, so I gave them a call back myself and he told me his manager wont approve the trade in. So after making a deal, they basically took back their words. I almost cancelled my other deal with another Subaru dealership because I was expecting a better deal at Romano. Good thing II waited. Romano Subaru is deceiving and tried to basically lie the whole time. Saying this is the only Subaru BRZ in the area and no one else is getting the car but them. When in truth, every dealer is getting 1 to 3 BRZs and are not overpricing the car like them. They will try to make the biggest lie to get you to go through them. And after making a deal they will not follow up with it if they have any second thoughts. Do not go through them!

I bought my car from Romano Subaru two weeks ago, It was a used 2010 Mazda 3 that they received on a trade in. There was some noise in the the front end of the car that they claimed it was "brakes" but as soon as I drove it I could tell that it was a wheel bearing. I told the salesman that, and he agreed that it sounded like that as well. I also pointed out that there was some cosmetic damages on the rear bumper that needed to be fixed. So basically, I told him "fix these things, and you got a deal." He agreed to fix all, the front end noise and fix the scratches that were on both sides of the bumper. He assured me that Romano Subaru dealership isnt like the rest of them.....Little did I know, he was right! THEY ARE WORSE THEN THE REST! When I went to go pick up my car I looked right at my salesman and said "did everything get fixed?" and he looked me straight in the eye and said "yes we took care of everything!" Needless to say, when I drove my car off the lot I immediately noticed noise in the front end, and when I got it home I noticed that they only fixed one side of the bumper (conveniently the drivers side!). My fault for not looking the car over better, and driving it off the lot to begin with. Silly me to trust a grown professional man that looks you in the eye and give you his word that everything is taken care of. I tried calling my salesman 3 times on a Saturday and each time I was told "hes in a meeting, hes out on a test drive, or hes busy, BUT Ill have him call you back". I waited hours for my salesman to call me back, but heard nothing. Then Sunday they were closed, and Monday I still did not hear anything from them. Tuesday I took it upon myself to just schedule an appointment with the service department, and when I dropped my vehicle off for the work I received a loner car that was completely empty, the gas light was on! The employee chuckled a little bit to himself and said to me "welp, looks like yer gonne hafta put some fuel in it if you wanna go anywhere!" Completely unprofessional! This establishment is full of lying, unprofessional, snarky people that only care about the money thats pouring into their wallet!
