The store has recently (2010) remodeled to re-arrange the interior space and to add a small restaurant. The grocery side is still a hole in the wall, but the layout inside is less cramped. The new restaurant (called Minerva Express) is a breath of fresh air in the area, which had been sorely lacking in good Indian food choices. (And by good, I mean ones with meat. Sorry Saran.) The prices are decent, we got a free cup of chai, and the food (lamb vindaloo, samosa) was quite satisfying. And the manager was really very nice; Im not sure why the other commenters have taken such an attitude about the staff. Parking is a little cramped -- you can park on the Dominos side or the Subway side, but theres not much either way -- but its well worth the try!

Its shame to say that its an Indian store. The store clerk has no sense of, how to talk to customers or to anyone !!. Dont buy any sweet item from them except deep brand. All other sweet items are really bad.....things are expensive as compared to other Indian stores........very bad customer care, most of the time, store clerks are busy talking to themselves or watching TV, they dont even answer you properly and keep on uttering non sense while billing.......should be banned from using INDIA name from their store.

Ive gone to this sore twice looking for hair oils and henna- its not very clean inside, and cramped. The store clerks are also rude. Just today I was in here and I saw a hair product with a 2001 manufacture date, and 2003 expiration date! That alone sends up a red flag! If this store cant care enough to keep fresh products before they expire, than they dont deserve my service!

This Indian grocery store is similar to most stores in the DC area - small selection of grocery items, manned by disinterested employees. Cleanliness level is questionable. They still do well because of the strong demand for Indian grocery in this area. I wish they could take lessons from local Korean grocery stores like Lotte Plaza and the like.

Best Indian grocery in the vicinity; u can get anything from fresh produce (including my favorite bhindi!) to Indian snacks and fresh samosas which are worth dying for. Closest to the food you get at home, not like the middle eastern groceries posing as "Indian groceries" with little real Indian content

Great place to buy Indian staples including rice, spices, frozen Indian prepared meals, snacks and much more. I buy most of my spices there since the prices are a lot lower than at the supermarkets. A1 Grocery also has a small restaurant attached to it where you can get a curry lunch or dinner.

Trust me, if u ever checked & compared the quantity and the prices, u will know it. the biggest cheaters around. they have a wierd weight of self-packed stuff and double prices. compare these prices with those of patel brothers or elsewhere u will know it. BEWARE OF THIS STORE!!!!

As an Indian in the DC area, this store has been a blessing. Stocked with staples of Indian cuisine as well as a decent selection of frozen meals. A bit expensive, but its a price Im willing to pay for a taste of home.

I personally wish the stores closer to my house because I really do like it. This is one of a few places where they actually carry fresh curry leaves! Parking is on the west side of the building.

Best one in the area. Have been working on my curries and this store has everything I needed. Its a bit hard to find, its attached to a restaurant and next to a pizza place so dont get lost!

Stuff is scattered almost all the time. Little overpriced as compared to other Indian groceries stores. But its nearby and convenient :)

Its not a huge place, but you can get all of the staples, a lot you cant from in a normal grocery store. The samosas are great too!

Has a lot of ready-made Indian food items. Didnt have a few items Indians use for their cooking. A decent Indian store.
