Planning for both a chinchilla and a big fishtank in the future, me and my boyfriend have been looking at pet stores in the area. Pets and Such was our third stop, with the first having overcrowding everything and unhandled chinchillas (bred by the manager, most likely just for money) and the second having no chinchillas and sick animals. Pets and Such was bright, clean smelling, and nicely organized/not over crowded except for some of the snakes. Everything looked healthy, and all the small furry animals they had for sale were active and healthy looking (unlike the other stores). They have a nice selection of salt water fish and anemones, and even had two sharks and a manta ray on display. Also a wide choice of tanks, from smaller box and bow fronts, to a 90 gallon wave-looking style, and a couple 120 gallon tanks. When we looking at the chinchillas (distracted by many active baby ferrets, guineas, and a hedgehog), an employee came up and asked if we needed help. This led to him letting us hold a chinchilla (one of two) who calmed down after a few seconds after being held, compared to the other store whose chinchilla shed a great deal out of stress of barely being looked at. We were told that the animals arent just shipped in en masse, but selected. After we put the chinchilla back, we looked around the store for another half hour-ish, looking at both chinchilla and fish things, and being asked every 5ish minutes if we we needed something, or still okay by what seemed every employee when they passed us (on their way doing other things no less!). With everything, it was a very nice experience and we now know where to get a majority of the things we need in the future!

If I could give it a negative or a zero I would. Yesterday at the watsatch reptile expo we bought our tegu that we have wanted for months. He was adorable and perfect and was explorative, social, and happy. But this morning at (8am)when we woke up and gave him some eggs we noticed he had started to prolapse (basically pooping out intestines) we freaked out and called all the valley searching for an open vet clinic with a reptile doctor. We found 1(at 10am) and they only had one doctor who didnt get in till 2pm. We took him there early cause as new parents to this baby we were worried sick. He had to have surgery to get the intestines back in. While he was in surgery we went back to the expo to to pets and such because we had done nothing but put him in his new home was researched thoroughly to be perfect for him. They told us they cant anything except if he dies and we prove it was impaction that killed him they can give us a new one. This is not something that we could have done in 16 hrs (most of it he was sleeping!). Now Im not only out $440 to them for him and supplies but a $200 vet bill and a broken heart praying my new baby makes it the next 24 hours. They need to take responsibility for selling us a pet that was not in full health. We love him dearly already and this whole situation has us heartbroken.

*****Pets and such sells sick pets then they try to blame the new owners********* My sister bought a Tegu lizard from them at the reptile expo on Saturday. On sunday morning when she went to feed her new little guy she noticed something strange happening she immediately began researching what was happening. She called multiple vets who could do surgery on her baby Tegu she took him in around two when a vet could finally do surgery. While he was in surgery she went back to Pets and such to let them know what had occurred and they tried to blame her and stated the best they could do would to exchange him. She and I are furious that they did not offer to help pay the vet bill or take the blame for selling her a "sick" lizard when they claimed all the animals in their care are healthy and happy. She not only learned her baby Tegu was Prolapsing (aka pooping out his intestines) the x-rays also revealed his tail was broke in 2 spots. pets and such said she needs to prove it was their fault not hers via x-rays. Our little guy was too little to really see the impaction on the x-ray. Needless to say he did not make it through Monday. He has passed away. To soon little guy. Only a month old.

Last year between my brother and I we bought a ball python and an apricot PAC man frog at the fall expo. The next week I went back and bought an ornate uromastyx. Within a shorter span of three months all three animals died. My brother and I have kept all sorts of reptiles and amphibians since we were 3. I wish I would have seen the other reviews before buying from them. Im convinced the animals lasted that long based off how well my brother and I know how to take care of them. We took them all to the vet, low and behold all were extremely sick and poor health WHEN WE BOUGHT THEM. Full of parasites and malnourished. The vets were surprised they lasted as long as they did. They might have a unique reptile selection but they dont take care of them at all, therefore they die. Also having 20 sum odd ball pythons in a cage smaller than a 10 gallon cage is so ridiculous and any pet owner knows is just bad. Go to a good pet store and ask if they do custom orders. Never going here again and Im going to stay with my pet store down the street from me where Ive bought multiple reptiles over the years who are all alive and healthy.

I moved to Magna recently and started going to these guys for my snake food, lizards food. Well I it a new lizard from then and a week later it passed away. I did research before getting it an even asked the employees what would be best for the set up I had at home. So I got what they suggested and try told me it would be fine in my set up at home(including lights, size of cage) I spent over $100 that day and after it passed fairly quickly I asked if they could do anything for me since it was such a short period of time, they said it was all my fault and that my set up was not right for that pet which I work at a pet hospital and talked with an exotic vet and he said it would be fine. So it was nothing I did wrong of why it passed. I spoke with the manager Jessi and he blamed everything on me (the customer) which is crap. I will NEVER go back to this pet store I will now drive the extra miles to go to Marks ark pet store I have never had an issue with. Pets and Such only care about getting your money and not helping the customers.

Very bad customer service (by the owner himself too). They dont back up their pets or products. No refunds, guarantees, or exchanges etc for any reason. They give bad pet advice then say "well we just dont do refunds I dont know what to tell you". What pet store doesnt guarantee their animals/products? These guys apparently. Their animals are very overpriced too. Their are many other neat pet stores in the area, I suggest you look to any of them over these guys who refuse to back up their products/pets/advice. My daughter is devastated her pet just died and these guys could care less. We went all the way to the owner for help hoping he just wasnt aware of his employees poor knowledge and service, but seems like it stems from him. He got his money from us and thats all he cared about, doesnt care for repeats or referrals. Just takes what he can and says move along. GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!!!!
