Great Dessert I am a little surprised at the ratings on here. We ordered the peanut butter Cazookie and it was fantastic, but a cazookie is supposed to be warm cookie dough with perhaps a little carmelization on it. Ordering this and expecting a cookie with ice cream is like ordering a piece of cake and expecting a cookie. We also ordered the white cake and it was fantastic. It had a traditional butter cream frosting on it with a nice rich flavor. I would never describe it as "sickeningly sweet". It was not dry, but it was firm. When considering the range between a pound cake and a chiffon cake it was perhaps a little toward the pound cake. It is what it is . . . cake. On top of all this the milk that I ordered with the cake and cazookie was COLD just like it should be. I hate warm milk. These people clearly understand what dessert is and know how to serve it. There may have been some credence to the comments on the cake being dry on take out. The take out boxes are cardboard and the cake will dry out over hours but will do fine if you are just taking it home. There is not an easy solution since frosting is hydrophilic and will suck moisture from the cake even in an air tight container. The atmosphere was great and the service was fantastic. To put it in terms that everyone can understand, dont waste your time or money getting dessert at some chain restaurant. The chocolate costs a little more but this place has what it takes to satisfy a foodie like me.

We went to The Chocolate on a recommendation from friends of ours. My thoughts: Cake - amazing! I got the Cherub(?) and was almost transported to another world. It helped that when I ordered whole milk(if youre gonna blow it, do it right I say!) they served it in a frosted glass so it was REALLY cold and delicious with that milk chocolate cake yumminess. Ok, stop drooling Rod. The location: A turn-of-the -century brick house on Orem State Street (some say its haunted - cool!) that they have completely re-done with different paint schemes and decorations in each room. I guess if youre uptight, having to look for a spot (we went upstairs to the big room) might get you in a tizzy, but I think it adds to the charm and overall atmosphere there. Not gonna lie, it took a while to find a spot, but it WAS a Friday night and the line was out the door, so what do you expect? My wife got a lemon bar and a fruit tart thingy and said they were very good. We went back this past weekend and shared the Kazookie(?) - AMAZING! You pick 2 cookie doughs and they put them side-by-side in what looks like a 6" round wedding cake pan. They bake it, then throw a big fat scoop of vanilla ice cream on it and serve it to you. The first bite, I think I heard angels signing. Serious. It may have been their rendition of "Celebrate" by Kool and the Gang, I cant be sure, but I do know that sparks almost flew from my spoon as I was scraping the bottom of the pan! Go. Just go and see for yourself.

Ive been to the chocolate a few times and used to work at a chocolate store where we sold their products. Unfortunately I have never had anything I NEEDED to go back for. When we sold their cupcakes they were always dry. Their cake was dry as well. I went and got a Pizookie last weekend and it was like they just stuck it in the oven for a couple seconds so it was only crusted on the outside and completely raw on the inside. Normally Id be fine with that but the girl I was with was gagging with every bite. We went and asked them if they could cook it a little longer so we could eat it. They said it would take another 15 minutes (so our dessert would have been cooked for a total of half an hour) They also told us "its supposed to be that way." we said "we know but its making us sick" reluctantly she took it back from us and put it in the oven, or so we thought. She brought it back 15 minutes later and threw it on our table and said "here!" How incredibly rude! Ive worked in places that thrive on customer service but these girls dont know the meaning of the statement. We looked at our dessert and it didnt look like itd been cooked at all so we stuck our fork in and it was still completely raw. Instead of trying to deal with them any longer we just left. I have never been so glad I didnt leave a tip on a reciept. It was the worst experience ever. Only get the Pizookie if you like warm cookie dough and the cake if you have a lot of water to get it down with.

Ive been here three times. It was okay, but really overpriced. The first time we came, hubby and I got a slice of white cake, and a slice of chocolate and both were so dry we tossed them. The second time, I mentioned the previous experience and they were more than happy to give us a complimentary piece of cake, and had very impressive customer service! (5 star customer service, 2 star food.) This time we got red velvet cake, and it was moist and delicious, but the frosting is painfully sweet! The atmosphere is great though! Very cute little place, and homey. Third time, we god a slice of white and a slice of red velvet. Both cakes moist and good, but again, the frosting is just disgustingly sweet. They are very close to my house, and when I get a sweet tooth the easy thing to do is pick something up. But, three strikes and youre out. In short, EXCELLENT customer service, and other than the one experience that was made right, the cake itself is very good. The frosting however... well, if you like incredibly sweet (Im talking eat a bowl of sugar sweet) then youll love it. Hubby and I, however, just cant stomach the frosting.

Horrible experience. My fiance, mom, and I went to the Chocolate after a dance performance of mine (it was a friday or sat night around 9pm ish). After ordering our items we had to search the entire house for seating, eventually sitting at a table that had yet to be bused. It took about 5 minutes for someone to come clean off the table. It took AGES, seriously at least 30+ min, for us to get our food. We werent expecting any fancy display or anything- but it shouldnt take 30 minutes to take something out of a case and put it on a plate. They didnt even heat up the brownies, etc. We didnt order anything that was not already sitting in the display cases. My mom had ordered coffee and she asked for real milk and sugar, after disappearing for 10 more minutes the waitress came back with splenda. Not sugar- splenda. After all the waiting the food was definitively NOT worth it. sub-par at best- Ive had better from grocery stores.

Service is so horrible. BUT the cazookie is amazing. The BEST! Just be careful when you order a cazookie....do not order it a half hour before closing or when it is a week night or else the girls give you guff because it takes too much time to make it. Just a guess. Once you make it past the snootiness and scowls from the girls, the cazookie makes it all worth it. We made a take out order and the girl who answered the phone was sooo irritated that I ordered my favorite treat due to the busyness of the night she tried talking me out of doing the order by saying, "You do realize it will take a half hour but I guess I will throw it in." Throw it in?! Girl you need to be sweet as The Chocolate is. Seriously people getting popular and busy should make you happy not bitter. Keep your cazookie because it is saving my business with you.
