I hardly ever write reviews, but I needed to put this in writing. I had the opportunity to meet with Carl at Utah Auto Exchange based on a recommendation from someone in my neighborhood in north Sandy. I am pretty leery of used car salesmen, and I had a bad experience at a big name dealership (LHM) that clearly didnt value my familys time, so I was glad to find Carl to be straightforward and honest to deal with. They are a smaller shop, and I realize they have a lot of things to juggle among a few people, so I gave them some leeway on exact timing of appointments and getting back to me immediately. I made sure to follow up with Carl if I didnt hear back quickly. I ALWAYS found him to be willing and eager to help me in a non-pushy way, even though I imagine I ask more questions than his average customer. Here are the particulars. I had a Hyundai Sonata and wanted (needed :) ) to trade it in for a minivan. I found a buyer for my Sonata by listing it on KSL, and Carl handled the paperwork. This allowed me to get a better price than the average trade-in at another dealership, while also saving on taxes because it was handled by the dealership. I then took the proceeds and applied it towards a Chrysler Town & Country that Carl had. If you know exactly what vehicle you want and have some time, Carl can always search for that exact type of vehicle when he goes to auctions. Pricing was great on the Town & Country, so I feel like I won on a few different levels. This was already a basis to recommend Carl to others. But the reason why I am writing this today is because after purchasing the vehicle, there were a few discoveries - one seat belt didnt latch in the back, there was a slight squeal on the brakes, and we found that one of the side doors didnt lock when we automatically locked the car. The side door wasnt discovered for a few weeks until the 5-year old came and pulled it open when my wife had just locked the car. Took it to the Chrysler dealership and they said it would be at least $400 to repair the lock. Again, I did have to follow up a couple times to remind them, but ultimately I came to Carl with the problem expecting him to say "buyer beware" or something like I imagine most dealerships would do, but instead he fixed all the problems at NO CHARGE because they were in place when I bought the vehicle from him, even though there was definitely cost and time for him and his team. And when I arrived to pick up the vehicle, they were washing the car, again at no charge. Carl and John and the rest of their team went above and beyond the call of duty, and thats why I felt compelled to share this. Doesnt happen every day, but I hope this review might encourage someone to give guys like this more business.

We purchased a vehicle from Carl a couple of weeks ago, and it was a fantastic experience. Carl was extremely patient, and honest. It is very hard to ignore that kind of a Dealer. Originally I found Utah Auto Exchange because I was interested in a Truck. I looked at the truck, and it was exactly as advertised. It was very clean, and in fantastic shape. After taking it for a test drive, I loved the truck. Carl gave me my written offer for me to take to my bank the following day. After a couple of days, I returned to Carl and let him know that I wont be purchasing the truck, because I commute far too much and it didnt make sense. However, because a Dealer like Carl is so difficult to find, I told him I wanted to work with him to find my vehicle to purchase. Ultimately we found a SUV I purchased for my wife, and she couldnt be happier. It is immaculate, in great shape, and was a very fair deal. Its a dealership, I expect Carl to make money, but he didnt outrageously charge me, he gave me the vehicle at a very fair price. They do offer a fantastic warranty, I have a friend that owns a dealership in St George, and I asked him about this warranty. He sells the same ones, and quoted me a price at his cost, which was basically the price Carl told me it would be. Very Fair dealer, and very trustworthy. I have recommended my friends to go buy cars just because Ive found this dealer that is patient, honest, and fair. I say fair because, its a dealership, it needs to make money or theyre a charity, Carl is fair about pricing, and you walk away with a FANTASTIC deal, and an AMAZING vehicle.

First time buyer there and my car was a LEMON. Had a problem with the air suspension and Carl said hed fix it before I took it and all he did initially was reset the computer and hope itd work. Over the three months I had it the suspension problem was never fixed and spent more time with Carl or in the shop than it did with me. Every step of the way was what was cheapest for them since they were obligated to fix the issue which meant more time that I had to bum rides off friends and family. NO RENTAL SERVICE while they had my car. After three months of that I asked for a refund and was fought every step of the way with that. I tried to get the work records of everything that was done to the car but Carl wouldnt release those to me which tells me that some shady stuff might have gone on. Carl finally offered a refund when the fix would have been more expensive to him than offering the refund and even then I didnt get a full refund and he tried to get as much out of me as he could and then tried to get me to buy another car from him. He has a friendly face and a silver tongue but my overall impression of him is CHEAP. If your car doesnt have any problems then go for it, if you want to take that gamble. I for one will not be going back.

We bought a quality vehicle here a year ago that we are pleased with. However, looking back I wish there were a few things handled differently. When I purchased our car, the cup holder latch didnt work right and the two workers said they would fix it. This didnt happen. I was also told that I would be called the following Monday so that I could buy an extra key fob at a cheap rate because they only supplied one. I never heard back from them. The car we bought was AWD, and the front tires had perfect tread and the rear barely passed safety I assume. This, I have learned, can cause a lot of damage to an AWD vehicle by not having 4 equal tires on the vehicle. As an auto dealer I assume that the owner would be aware of this and make sure not to sell a car that way. I even inquired about the tires when I bought the car. Im disappointed that these things werent taken appropriately. I felt that they were very honest with me and up front, but looking back I feel a little sold and not as well taken care of as I could have been in a car purchase. Im not saying I wouldnt buy from here again, Id be a little more up front though when buying my next vehicle. I just wish it was a little different looking back.
