At the Round Rock, Texas location of Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts, the staff is always kind and courteous even when shoppers can hear that they dont feel well or have had a not-so-good day. The store is owned by a mega billion dollar investing (private equity) Leonard Green. In 2010, Jo-Ann was bought for $1.6 billion US dollars. This means that Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts is all about the money. When we think we are getting a good deal, we are not. What we are getting is the opportunity to buy crafting products immediately. In the end, we are paying far more than the actual cost of the product. I said that just to make it clear that my five stars are for reasons other than the kind staff or cost of the products. I have shopped at every version of Jo-Ann Fabrics since it bought Cloth World. I shopped at Cloth World first and then Jo-Ann Fabrics - so yeah - Im old, but I know what I am reviewing. 1) Does it have the products I need to complete sewing and crafting projects? Yes. It does not carry clear elastic which I hope it begins to carry. 2) I sew fabrics. This is a smaller Jo-Ann store so it is more like shopping at a smaller version of the huge store on Mo-Pac Loop 1 in Austin. The fabric quality has improved during the past few years after being downright terrible. Someone at the top must have realized the error of their ways. 3) Natural fibers are few but do exist in this store. There are a few organic cottons and even a few Made in the USA fabrics in the cotton section. 4) Prices are inflated. Many times this store has coupons that you must read the fine print to get the discount. Sounds fair, right? Staff cant change this, mentality, but If the investors help me manage the coupons to get the best sales - I will spend more money at your location which increases your overall volume. Im not the only customer with this perspective. A lot of people dont sew because of the associated costs. It makes business sense to create a new repeat customer base of young sewists. The cashiers at this location often dont have the time to help you find and use coupons. They are super at multi-tasking but try to get your coupons together before getting to the cashier. This location is great if you dont need to use a coupon or you already know how to use the coupons. 5) Sales are rare. Sure, you can get all kinds of 50% off and 40% off coupons with your phone app and email. If I am only buying one fabric, then the 50% off coupon is great. Typing the word "inspire" to the Jo-Ann app will give you a one time 20% off your entire purchase which can be used with the 30% off coupon. Its a one time use so use that tip wisely. 6) Thread choices. This store has fewer options. Loop 1 Jo-Ann - Joanns store has many more thread choices. If you want to run in and run out - this Joanns is perfect in that situation. 8) Quilting choices are hit and miss. This Jo-Ann has a lot of quilting and specialty quilting fabrics for which I am thankful. They arent great quality, but they do the job. Watch the sales. If Kona cottons - a lovely cotton fabric - is on sale, you cannot use the 50% coupon. 9) The staff is good. I miss the staff from years past and hope they have found great careers. I actually like cutters at the table who do not sew and let me explain why. The cutters who sew view customers as a necessary evil. 10) The parking lot is small. Only during special sales days or Christmas does parking become a challenge. If you want to get in and get out quick, this is the Jo-Ann for you. Joanns is what we called it for years. There may be a slow down at the cash register because often only one cashier is working. The line can go from zero to 20 in a heartbeat. If you see a long line at the cashier and there is only one cashier, plan to be there a while. Overall, this is a small but much needed Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft store. The staff maybe wont want to hear this but I wish it was much bigger. It was created when Round Rock was smaller.

The store has a large selection of products. I am confused by the sales flyer which doesnt always match the prices found in the store, but maybe it rings up at the register. My largest complaint with this particular store is the lack of employees working. I stood in line for well over 20 minutes while I person checked people out. The cashier, Dylan, was working as hard as he could and had a very positive attitude, but he should not have been forced to work without backup. We learned that he was the only person scheduled to work the register. I saw several people put their merchandise down because of the length of the line. While I will return, many may not.

This location is doing really well! It always seems to be busy, and therefore it takes a while sometimes to find help. The nice thing is that when you do get help the staff is very helpful! We had to take a # and wait about 15 mins before we could get some material cut, but when our turn arrived, the associate took her time and was extremely helpful with our projects. This explains the wait, but makes it well worth it! They have a great selection too! We will definitely be coming back.

They do have a great selection of fabrics and other items such as home goods. My major complaint is that the service desk is always overwhelmed and you have to take a number and wait, usually for a very long time to get fabrics cut. So if you dont mind the wait, you will probably find a pattern that suits your needs.

The fabric selection is the largest in the area. Whats great about Jo-Anns is that the staff really knows their craft stuff. They are right there to help you make selections and answer any question you might have. Make sure you get the store app for instant coupons.

I dont come here but maybe twice a year for random projects and each time I have got what I needed. No surprise, the staff is always helpful for a guy like me who knows what he wants, but is not sure what he needs to get the project done. They are always helpful.

Not one employee asked me if I needed help, although 3-4 employees past by me - I had to ask another customer for help. Betsy, at the cutting station, was very unfriendly and unhelpful. Bad first experience, I wont be back.

Time wasters! Sarah was supremely slow in checking out for the fabric. She didnt seem to know about the number system. And when I have feedback to Lori at checkout, she could care less. Ill go to another store next time.

This is a large fabric store with a lot of material and supplies to help with your next project. The salespeople were very friendly and went out of their way to help me get a discount using one of their coupons.

Good store. Employees are friendly, but it took this store longer than other Jo-Ann stores took to change the stock to spring items this year so I was disappointed since that was why I went in.
