Let me start off with the positive. Most of the employees were fine and the tattooing I saw was well done. The problem is with "Shane" and his rude behavior. He is certainly not customer oriented and shows his anger and annoyance without restraint, which is highly inappropriate and unacceptable. He should be terminated immediately! I have dealt with him on more than one ocassion and his attitude is always the same...NASTY! Came into the shop, which was clean and Shane took care of us and said that he could do a small tattoo. He started preparing the photo copy of what was to be tattooed and the next thing you know, another customer comes into the shop and he tells us he is going to so her peircing ahead of us...even though we were there first and he had charged us for the transaction in advance, NOW HE WAS GOING TO MAKE US WAIT! What kind of customer service is that??? Just so happened the spouse of the Owner was there and we complained to her, and she agreed with us and pointed out that another person could do the tattoo that wasnt busy and we said fine, but that person wanted their money before they did the tattoo. Shane came out of the back room slamming and banging, while cursing under his breath and said he just couldnt do the tattoo now that he was so upset by us and the situation. I explained to him that it was inappropriate to take another customer ahead of us who did not have an appointment, especially after we had already paid for a service and now he was making us wait, which by the way had already been at least 30 minutes. Shane told us that this is the way it is in the tattoo business and we would have to deal with it! WELL SHANE...YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE FACT THAT YOU ARE THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL PERSON I HAVE COME ACROSS IN THE TATTOO BUSINESS. You are very fortunate that your employer has poor management skills, because anyone else would have fired you long ago. Consequently, the other person did the tattoo and did a great job (female) and we left. A month or so later we called to see if someone could do a small tattoo and they gave a time to be there. We get there and apparently they did not care about the appointment time they had given us and said, oh well, we cant do it now. As a matter of fact they were booked the rest of the day. It was that day that my family and I decided to never give Southpaw our business or anyone elses business that we come in contact with. Two of us are retired military, and I work at Ft. Sam Houston so I come into contact with a lot of people every day and tattoos are a common denominator in our daily conversations. You will get no praise or recommendations from me or my family and you certainly will get no business referrals. As a matter of fact I highly discourage anyone from using your establishment based on one moron that works there. I REALLY HOPE THIS WARNING HELPS OTHERS TO GO ELSEWHERE FOR ALL YOUR TATTOO AND PEIRCING NEEDS.

Hello everyone! Its your girl Claire here and I would like to address some of the very unfortunate negative reviews. First of all, the owner is a very kind hearted man approaching the grand agree of 80. Hes owned the shop for over 25 years. In recent years he hasnt been able to be as involved in the shop as he did in the past. This lead to an unfortunate bad batch of artists. However, the tides have turned. We have new management (yours truly) and an entirely new crew. Everyone mentioned prior to this announcement has been cut and the new crew is phenomenal. Each artist is packing many years of experience and skill ranging in all art styles from portraits to traditional. We promise nothing but quality and professionalism thru out your visit. To kick off this new era were offering great deals and military discounts. Also, we offer free charity tattoos. Free nipple replacement tattoos to women who have survived breast cancer (tattooed by a female artist), free eye brow tattoos for those going thru chemo (the ink is semi permanent so when your hair starts growing back the tattoo wont throw off your natural eyebrows) and to those who have battled with depression and self harm we offer a service that brings the scar back to skin tone to the best of our abilities (free service offered to scars that cant be concealed by clothing). If youre interested about any of the charity services or in future quality tattoos please dont hesitate to contact us. We stand by our work and were looking for any chance we can get to redeem ourselves and would love to help you out.

I have been a loyal customer to southpaw for some time so have friends of mine, one is military on Randolph and the others live in the vicinity. recently me and my friends and brother have been receiving calls from a guy named Gizmo...dont think I know the person. He is claiming that he works at southpaw tattooing and that he is leaving soon and if we want good tattoos for cheap prices to call him instead of going to southpaw and he will tattoo us at his house. he doesnt say very good things about southpaw and the owner. I dont appreciate this neither do my friends. how did this gizmo guy get our numbers. I would not go to someones home for a tattoo. this seems wrong and very unprofessional. if you get a call like this and are a prior southpaw customer dont do it. I love southpaw and the owner duck is a great guy and a great artist. ive received 2 calls from this gizmo guy and it sounds like a bad scam. southpaw is a great shop. my favorite. I wanted to report this scam and give people warning. go to the shop not some guys house.

GREAT WORK. I just had work done here yesterday, by "J.R" awesome artist. i was unsure exactly what i wanted I just had a basic idea so I told him what I was looking for and he said for something like what I wanted he would just draw it on me, and did I was a little leery but after seeing some work he just did I said "why not let him draw it” Great choice, he took a pen and started free-handing some of the best tribal I’ve seen in a while. I asked about the negative rating they had on Google and who "Shane" was? They all talked about him like he was one of the best their shop has had, but is no longer there. He remembered the day this happened and said these guys would not make up their minds and the piercing took less than two or three minutes. I read these ratings so I know what to except when going somewhere new, just keep in mind there are dumb people in this world, but you don’t have to take my word for it. Either way I’ll be getting my work done here from now on... Thanks J R see you next time.

The people who work here are complete and total idiots. I came in for a simple retainer for my snakebites (plastic or acrylic clear holders intended to keep the piercing open but not as obvious as a piece of jewelry), and they gave me the wrong size, the retainers were too large to fit in my piercings. When I pointed this out to them they told me I was wrong and to force it in. When I said I wanted my money back, they then proceeded to take some scissors and shave the retainers down. During this process the retainers fell onto the dirty floor repeatedly and this was all handled with their bare hands, a huge violation. Gross. When those morons were done, it looked like a shark had it for lunch. Without another word I went to a place I know does great work and wouldn’t let me down. Don’t give your business to southpaw, they employ hobos off the street. If they can’t handle something as simple as a piece of plastic, don’t trust them with the rest of your body.
