I had the worst experience at odyssey pets due to the owner her self. I had many recommendations from my own clients about this place. I have a corgi and Yorkie mix dog and I have been struggling to find someone who can cut his hair a certain way. When I got there explained what I wanted and also showed her pictures thought she knew what to do. I go to get him and already can see as he is being carried out his hair is still too long. I ask to get it trimmed some more but am asked to come back the next day because all the groomers are gone for the day and its only 2pm at this point in the day. I live about an hour away and went out of my way because I thought I had maybe found the place that could take care of my dog but I was wrong. I asked to bring him in the following week due to schedule and inconvenience issues and as I inspected him more I see that hardly anything was trimmed or cleaned. His ears and private areas were still uncleaned and not groomed. I can go on about how poorly the job was done. I ask to get another groomer and a redo because he didnt look like he had been groomed at all. I get there and get the same groomer that did it the first time. As Im explaining how I did not care for what she did I start feeling like she was getting frustrated with me. I had my dog on the counter so we could get a better look at him and he started getting close to the edge which then I see her extend her hand out and grab him by his fur and yank him back. I got super pissed at that point because she could have easily grabbed him another way beside yanking on his fur. I asked if there was another groomer because I was furious on how she grabbed him I didnt feel like she was going to be gentle with him which at that point she and the lady at the counter started yelling that he was going to jump so thats why she yanked on his fur to pull him back. The groomer with the colored hair ran to the back while I was still talking and the lady at the counter followed her back. She then came back to the front with another groomer named Michael I believe was his name. He was very nice and seemed to be more gentle when he handled my dog. As I started to explain to him that I was upset on how the previous groomer was handling my baby the lady at the counter started blurting out on how my dog was going to jump and run. I held my hand out and asked if she could stop talking and interrupting me to which she responded with "oh wow! Wow!" While throwing up her hands in the air. I looked at her and asked if I needed to call her manager to talk to her. Her response to me was "I AM THE OWNER!!!!" I then turned my attention away from the nice groomer who was trying to help, faced the owner and asked for my money back. I thanked the nice groomer and said I would leave immediately if thats how the OWNER reacts to new unsatisfied customers. She did apologize and gave me my refund but when I said I was going to review this place for the horrible experience she yelled at me again! This time blurting out "Well I want my money back too! Give me back my money! Why did I even give you a refund back!???" I was disgusted that the owner reacted in frustration with her employee instead of better assisting a new customer. Not professional at all and I will never be back or recommend this place to any one ever.

Stumbled on this place while starting my first Salt Water Reef Tank. This location was low on my list of fish stores to visit because they are an all purpose pet store as opposed to one that specializes in just the Aquarium hobby. My last stop of the day after thinking maybe a salt water tank isnt for me after being brushed off and looked down upon by many other stores staff as I assume they figured I was just another "window shopper" with no money or something. I came in to Odyssey and was immediately greeted by store staff. Which had not happened to be at all that day anywhere else. As I was browsing through fish tanks Daniel greeted me and asked about my interest in the hobby and then proceeded to spend close to 45 minutes or so educating me on the salt water hobby and giving me recommendations. Not ONCE did he try to talk me out of starting a tank, which is what I had heard a lot that day. One guy even telling me "start with a freshwater tank bro, salt water is not for beginners." -_- Needless to say Daniel sold me almost $400 in equipment to get started and I was stoked! After doing my own research i found that his knowledge was spot on and not fabricated like you would expect from someone working at Petco. I have returned frequently since for odds and ends for my tank and have dealt with Chase numerous times for probably more time than I should take from an employee. This guys knows his stuff! All of his advice has been honest and spot on and you can tell he enjoys the hobby and likes educating newcomers. These are the kind of interactions you want from staff at your local fish store if you are going to plunge that kind of money into an expensive hobby. There are tons of fish stores in Dallas that focus on just aquariums and have more stock of equipment and livestock. But to be honest i would rather spend my time and money at Odyssey because its all about the experience, and Odysseys staff delivers on that. If you want to start a tank and need a good LFS to start a relationship with, i STRONGLY recommend this place. On top of that their tanks are well maintained, the livestock looks happy and healthy, they have a good variety of livestock and equipment. Cant say enough good things!

We bought a blue dragon scale beta after our last beta died. Two weeks later, the fish was on its side. I called the store, and just happened to reach one of the co-owners. He told us to bring the fish in, and they would treat the fish for free or give us a credit towards another beta. It turns out, we needed a heater in the tank (which they sold us an amazing model). Michael and an employee took the fish, and got it back to health. Odyssey kept the beta over two weeks, as there were issues with holidays at the time. If you are looking for fish, fish advice, or supplies. Please support Odyssey over other stores; in my opinion, they are more knowledgeable than the big chain pet stores.

Mike is the most knowledgeable person I have met when it comes to fish. When I called, he gladly spent 15 minutes on the phone with me explaining very nicely why everything I was planning to do was not in the best interests of my fish. When I brought the used tank and equipment I had just purchased to the store, he took a look at it and made several recommendations on how to set up my new 55 gallon tank within my budget. He gave very detailed answers to all of my questions and guided me through every step of moving the fish from a smaller to larger tank. The prices are fair, atmosphere is pleasant and the ladies are very nice. A++ for service, knowledgeability and friendliness.
