I work near Academy and decided to drop by to pick up some camping supplies. This was at 5:15pm on a FRIDAY. I parked 7 parking spaces from the front door, locked my doors, hit my alarm and went inside. I came out 30 min later and my window was broken out and someone had stripped the inside of my key hole. Mysteriously no one around saw a thing?? The police said they were trying to steal my car, not just breaking in. They did steal my work bag(which was hidden) which had a credit card inside. I canceled it within 2 min of seeing my car broken into, but they had already charged $66 of gas from 7-11 at Greenville and Park. Academy manager said their cameras do not cover the entire parking lot( reminder: I parked 7 spaces from the front)!!!!! Apparently, It only covers the front door and the first few cars in the front. They do not have a parking lot security guard either. What if I had walked up within the 45 min window? I would have walked up on them breaking in and God only knows what would have happened. I would also like to let everyone know that I stood there in the parking lot scared and in tears for 15 minutes until the manager came out to say he would go back in and look at the camera footage. (I had asked a customer, who approached me to see if I was ok, to tell the manager what just happened.) I assumed he would quickly come outside, but he must have had better things to do. I sent Academy corporate a email and they never responded. This is a million dollar company and they dont put the safety of their customers first?? The police officer said this is a very high crime area and would better be avoided. The sad thing is that I grew up a block away over 20 yrs ago and this was a nice, safe area. Now, unless you sag your pants and let your underwear show, you wont fit in. I should have judged the crowd before I shopped here. I just hated to stereotype.... until NOW!!

I went to the store in Dallas TX on Central Expressway and Forest and will NEVER go there again!!!! Went there with a X-mas gift card to buy an overnight bag and a fishing rod and to renew my yearly fishing licence. I went to the customer service lane and waited for all the refunds in front of me to be served. After almost 30 minutes it was my turn. I had my licence in hand and told the clerk I wanted to renew it. He NEVER even looked at it, but rang up a $5.00 stamp plus my 2 items. Then he told me I had to go to # 9 to get my licence. NEXT a clerk in another lane said she could help me only to find that the 1st clerk charged me for the wrong one (which I knew and tried to tell the 1st one). Then she charged me for a different licence which ALSO wasnt what I had asked for and told me that I STILL had to go to number 9 to pick up the licence. I ASKED for the manager and he told me that the SECOND clerk hadnt sold me the right licence either ( which I KNEW and tried to explain to her). NOW THE MANAGER GOT INVOLVED. THINK it worked?? HELL NO, He was telling the clerk to sell me a licence that the STATE DOESNT MAKE !!!! Finally the clerk told me I STILL owed more money (paid in 3 Different lanes). NOW I have to get a calculator out to find out what I finally paid for this experience. I have lived in 5 different states and 10 cities and every time I went to get my licence I went to the sporting goods counter and got EVERYTHING done at ONE TIME. ACADEMY thinks they have a better idea, but I WILL ARGUE THIS POINT. If I could Id give this store a ZERO

TERRIBLE! When I left the store, I wanted to run over a few carts! We had been calling into Academy for WEEKS now wondering if they will ever get a certain grill into the store. After being told it would come Friday, and it not coming. And then being told it would come Monday and it not coming. And then being told it would come Wednesday, it finally arrived at the store. That was a nightmare to begin with. During those calls, my husband would get put on hold by some guy, wait for 10 minutes and the same guy would pick up and say "hello?" "yes, can you please tell me about that grill?" "oh yeah, one second..." on hold again..."hello?" Many of the calls went something like that. Then it finally came and I went to checkout and I had an AMEX gift cheque for $100. I filled it out and after signing it and writing it out to Academy, the customer service cashier said "Oh, we cant take those." What do you mean? I already wrote it out to you guys!!!! Eventually I just had to pay for it with my debit card. And now have a $100 check written out to them that I cant use. If another vendor doesnt take my scribbled out check, Im going back and demanding some recompense! Dont waste your time, unless you have to like we did for that stinkin grill.

I mainly deal with the shooting sports and gun counter side of the store and Ive noticed the staff there is pretty knowledgeable but sometimes push a little much on the cheap guns just to make a sale. Not always but its happened to me and my wife. The ammo shelves are sometimes mislabeled and a messy. And the store manager whos Hispanic and has long hair, Paul I think his name is, hes often condescending and has a bad attitude overall. Hes a jerk and has made shopping there rather unpleasant.

1. Asked a manager to do a price match, and she, Crisha, was basically yelling at me in the store. 2. Went there to find a recoil pad for my shot gun. So brought it in and had it checked in. They scratched my shot gun and the guy they gave it to at the front to hold as I was checking out was leaning on the gun. Now, I half wish it was loaded. They have been very customer unfriendly. They have good prices but by far the worst experience in my shooting hobby.

Horrible experience --was there this past Saturday and was pickpocketed. My brand new Samsung Galaxy S5 stolen --BAM ...New expensive case and all my pictures of my son for the past two years that were stored on my sd card---GONE. So disgusted, will never EVER set foot in this place again! Several months back I watched as a man stole a pair of SHOES and ran out the door. They need some armed GUARDS in here. Dispicable.

The store seemed really unorganized. When asking for help its a bother to the employees. Its bad enough when you go into a store and the employees have their pants hanging off of their rear end. But its even worse when its the girls doing it. Not once did anyone ask me if I need any help or if they can help me in any possible way. Not even a greeting goodbye when I walked out the door.
