Prices are going to be a lot higher than any other store. Most brands represented and if you need basic otc meds they have all you need. The meat is pretty good though and they have all the random shurefine products that are nowhere else. If you are just passing through for hunting or camping they also have a great section with tents, sleeping bags, and other camp gear including stoves, so if you see this and you are homeless and passing through to the west they have items that can help out. Botttom line the food is too expensive and you are better off driving 15 mins to San Antonio or Hondo for the HEB or Walmart.

Do not shop here. Their prices are really not any lower than anywhere else. And then on top of that you get charged 10%. And then you are taxed. The main stuff like milk, eggs, bread, meat and cheese...use to cost less when they were Lowes and you didnt pay a fee to shop there. And for those individuals on SNAP...by law it is only suppose to cover food, but at Food King you will pay for their food and their 10% charge, which is probably illegal for them to do. So I guess here in Castroville the only choice is Wal-Mart, where you dont have to pay extra to shop.

Great prices on selected items, produce is good quality but limited choice. I usually have great experiences here, especially in the meat market. But on my last visit, one of the young male employees was dropping the F-bomb in a loud voice up front where families with children were present. I asked the checker what her manager would think about that behavior and she looked at me like a deer in the headlights. I asked her again and she said that the manager was his mother and was standing right there as he was talking. Hmmmmm.

Theres nothing wrong with the place itself, what I dont like is their pricing policy. Everything you buy there has a 10% charge added at the register. For example if you were to buy something that is advertised as $10, the price at the register is actually $11 +tax. Just be straightforward with the prices!

Staff is always friendly and the selection of foods is pretty good for small town, most things that arent name brand are reasonably priced and even a few name brand things, but several name brand things are a little pricey when compared to walmart or HEB, but youll probably find what you like to eat here.

Well hopefully Wal-Mart never moves close by cause that would be it. Clean store, willing and helpful staff. DVD rental booth thats not Redbox was interesting. Good little gimmick pricing sceniro but reasonable prices.
