Ok so the store as a whole is nice , definitely huge, nice selection etc.. HOWEVER the Pharmacy? Forget about it. Ive been using HEB for all my family and my medications for over a decade now , never had any issues, attitude or just straight up lying until a week ago when trying to get a script filled. When I dropped my script off with the tech I told him from the get go "Youre going to need to get prior authorization for this med, its new and its controlled. Ive already alerted the nurses at my Dr office and they are awaiting your fax" , gentleman said " ok thanks, it will be about 40 min wait" (never had to wait that long before but ok) so I went shopping. As I was in line to pick up my med I get a call from the tech stating " I need to get a prior authorization for this medication and it will take a few days due to dr and insurance" . Um BS! I go to the counter and speak with another Tech alerting her of the issue, Ive never met someone so rude, brash and apathetic .. I told her the situation and obviously my frustration . She told me " it always takes a couple of days because we have to wait on the dr to approve and then run through the insurance" ok, so I dialed my Dr office right then had them on speaker and told them the situation , my nurses stated they have been waiting for their fax and ready to sign the form, the techs face was red , and said it will be 40mins... I told her you take care of that and my husband will come and pick it up today. He goes to pick it up and they tell him the same thing they told me.. its always takes a few days etc.. I call them after he let me know and they try to then tell me oh well its the insurance that has to approve it and we have to wait , I called her out on it, " I have my Insurance Pharmacy formulary downloaded, its covered its a tier 1 and you need to get the prior auth from the dr which they have been waiting for you guys to send the request!" She said " Im sorry maam I dont know what to tell you.. this goes on for 2 days.. last time I called they tried to then tell me it was the dr, I called the dr office prior to calling the pharmacy .. they sent the request back filled and signed.. she then tried to tell me it would take a while for the insurance to approve it.. Ok thats it ! "I told her maam , Im a nurse , AND i work for health insurance, I am well versed in the process and the one you tried to tell me is not and never has been especially with my ins carrier. I know how my insurance works and the turnaround time so try again and if I have any further issue I will contact corp.... she didnt have a response. I got a call an hour later that my med was FINALLY filled.. SO we will go back to getting our meds filled at Alon Market HEB .. 30 mins away just so I know I will have peace of mind knowing mine and my familys meds will be taken care of ...

I have always had a good experience at this HEB plus, but after today they will never have my business again. My sister and I came in to purchase a $10.00 waxing kit which she called and put on hold before we came to the store since we were on a time restraint. Before purchasing she opened the kit to make sure all components were there (just as you check eggs to make sure they are not cracked) and we continued to the check out. As we leave the store we are approached by two men who ask us to follow them back into the store where they lead us to a back room. They then ask us to put all "unpaid merchandise" on to the counter top. We both are confused and explain that everything we walked out with we paid for. The older gentleman that Im assuming is head of loss prevention? Im not sure because he never Identified himself, then told us that because we were not cooperating they will be calling the police. There was NO explanation on what exactly we did to make them believe we stole something. They then showed us a video of our backsides (after threatening with the police) opening the waxing box. At that point my sister opened the box (with out being asked) and emptied all the components on to the counter to show that there was no merchandise that was unpaid for in there. At that point everyone is very flustered and Im sure embarsssed, the older gentleman explains that we were suspicious on camera. So instead of asking to open the box within the first 1 minute we are in the back room (which is the whole reason we were pulled into the back) after 5 minutes my sister then takes it upon her self to open the box and show them what is inside. Now no I dont understand HEB loss prevention protocol since nothing was explained to us. There was no apology after they were proven wrong. No "Im sorry" or "we apologize for the inconvenience", only blame put on us for being what they would consider "suspicious". The older gentleman then asked the younger guy to escort us out the front doors, which the younger guy had enough sense to take us out the back doors, away from prying eyes, after wrongfully calling us theives. I appreciate our neighborhood HEB employees doing their job and making an effort to catch bad guys who steal, but this situation was incredibly rash and uncalled for. I really hope nothing was actually stolen while they spent 10 minutes trying to get us to admit to having "unpaid merchandise" . This is a situation that could have been solved in 30 seconds if they asked us to open the "so very suspicious" box. Ill go ahead and buy my groceries at another HEB.

OK, i do still shop here, but only for a couple of things... in pretty much all aspects other than their beer selection, the store was much more appealing to me in the past. this is the closest place to me with a good beer selection, so these days i pretty much go there for beer and pick up a few other items on the way out (if i can find them). my fair rating is a review of their offerings on a whole the do offer some good products, but they are also heavily lacking elsewhere... the place lacks continuity... its like someone randomly snatched products from whole foods, walmart, and your general heb, filled the remainder with the dregs of north star mall and shook the lot of it up. the almost rampant rotation, abandon, and stocking of new products is also pretty frustrating. i feel like whenever i go in to look for something i had bought previously it has either been moved, or removed and replaced with a like (sometimes marginally) product, or removed totally. However, i usually can find helpful staff quickly and they usually know where to send me. i would like to see: more continuity more organization more grocery items more sustainable and local food options less kitchen items less JUNK kitchen items less or no apparel less or no electronics and entertainment stuff more predictable and steady rotation of items if they must be rotated. lose the blockade of obnoxious needless seasonal junk from china at the north entrance if you must keep all the non grocery store items, i would be much happier to see all food, drink, and produce on one side, and all the appliances, cook ware, entertainment, toys, books, tools, seasonal items, clothing, home items, gadgets and whatnot on the other. daipers, paper goods, bathroom and personal items, pharmacy and so on would be a nice buffer in the middle. as you can imagine i would much prefer to go to central market, or whole foods, both of which i like for the most part. from now on i probably will just go to the new whole foods when i am out that direction and stock up...
