This is probably the worst Rent A Center company Ive ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I have almost always paid my bills on time and the times that I have not been able to pay the bills, I have always been friendly to them when they came to pick up whatever I was renting at the time. I recently purchased a laptop from them. They tried to sell me on a laptop that I didnt want first. They told me to try it out for a few days and if I didnt like it to bring it back. On top of the fact that they tried to sell me on something that I didnt want, they told me I had to go to a completely different store to pick it up. Once I finally got there, I knew immediately that it wasnt what I was looking for. This laptop looked like it was manufactured in 2001. It had very low audio quality, almost inaudible. And it kept shutting down on me because the battery needed to be replaced in it. I took it back the very next day and asked for the one that I wanted. It took them more than a few days to find it, they had to refund me the money that I paid for the other one and then have me pay the new one. Once I finally got the new one, everything seemed great on it. I love the laptop itself but have been having problems with the place ever since. I had the Benefits plus program for my laptop which is supposed to cover you if you lose your job. I lost my job in May and when I called to explain, they told me that the Benefits Plus didnt work unless I qualified for unemployment. Which is just pointless. Why was I even paying for the program then? Still, I graciously took the laptop back. My mother offered to start paying on it so I got it back a few weeks later. She is a waitress and so she works to volume, every person in the hospitality industry understands what working by volume means. It means that you dont leave until its slow, basically. Rent A Center has not been at all understanding about this, accusing her of flaking on payments because she sometimes has to call them and tell them that she cant make it before they close and that she will have to come in on another day. They also expect her to pay with her credit card...is there something that is difficult to understand about the word waitress? She gets paid in TIPS. TIPS means CASH. Its not that hard. What finally sent me to my breaking point with these people is when they called me today and asked where she was. When I explained at work, they asked me to call her and ask when she was going to come in to make the payment. I did and she said that she had one more table left and would be home soon and she would pay them on her way home. I called back and they said that was fine and to have her call them when she got off work. Less than five minutes later, in the middle of doing college homework, someone knocks on my door for my laptop. When I told him (very nicely, I might add) what his manager had told me over the phone, he then very rudely, told me that his other manager said to come pick it up anyway because my mother always says she will make the payment and never does. Who in the world does this man think he is to come onto my property and then speak that way about my family? And also, why did they say it was okay if it wasnt? I can not believe how unbelievably unprofessional, rude, and just plain ridiculous these people are. I will pay for my laptop because I have a vested interest in it but Im going to pay it off within the next few months I think and after it is paid off, I will NEVER deal with these people ever again. And I hope no one else ever does, either. Because youll regret it.

The store manager Jesse is extremely disrespectful. And thats putting it very nicely. I truly dont know why he felt he could scream at me the way he did. Seems like its normal behavior for him. But I will not let someone treat me that way without standing up for myself. This RENT a center location has stated straight from the mangers mouth that they are not in the market of RENTING things out. When they make transactions youre required to pay off that item or be screamed at. All that talk on the website about hassle free delivery, return the item at any time, etc. Doesnt apply to Jesse or his store. Someone should maybe mention to him that thats probably not true seeing as how more than half the store is used items. Theyre not in the market for anything short term. If you are, be prepared to be belittled and screamed at! My experience: I paid off a washer and dryer with this location and was offered 4 wks of no payment with any item. I decided on a getting a couch. On top of the 4 wks free, I paid an extra 2 weeks. On delivery day I decided to call with a hypothetical questions. What if I decided within the free 4 wks that I wanted to return the item, could I get a refund for that last 2 wks that I dont use? His response was "No, the way RENT a center looks at it, if you use the (FREE) 4 wks then we keep the other 2 wk payment because you used the (FREE) 4 wks." Mind you I wasnt even required to make the extra 2 wk payment. I think what set him off is me asking if he misunderstood my question because his response didnt make any sense. He then started yelling at me that they dont rent out their items. Why was I putting his guys through the hassle of doing their JOB and bringing me a couch if I was just going to return it in a few weeks. (Pls explain why you offer weekly bi weekly and monthly options. Is it not for short term use?) He then hung up on me after telling me he was calling his guys and stopping the delivery. All because he wouldnt give a refund on 2 wks that I didnt HAVE to pay for? AND IT WAS A HYPOTHETICAL QUESTION. "His guys" are already standing in my home with part of the couch. He calls yelling and they step outside. When they come back in one guy mentions that he couldnt even understand him. If he yelled at me the way he did I can only imagine how he sounded with them. His behavior seemed soo normal to them too. They werent even fazed. And agreed I had every right to a refund. If this store is struggling with sales start from the top. As a previous(never again) customer, Ive found your issue! Also pretty curious if legally he could deny a delivery because he thought I was going to going to keep it for a few weeks? Corporate will be hearing from me as well.

Never felt so disrespected or degraded by another person in my life. Jesse IS A HORRIBLE customer service agent. He is just another thug that gets a paycheck. i have been doing business with this company for many years and never seen them hire someone with a short temper or bad service. Really wish that the company would see all the complaints filed against him and do something but i guess as long as he gets them the money they will keep him. I URGE anyone in that area looking for appliance or furniture to do business else where. THIS place ISNT worth it. He degrades women and has no problem yelling at them to make himself feel empowered. the staff is good people but they have no problem talking about Jesses service and work skills. SO GLAD i am done with them and never again. I told some of the staff when they leave there to let me know and i would follow them. Rent a center lost a customer because they choose to hire just another thug who feels he has the ability to make people feel as if they need him and that he can treat people as if there nothing.
