Ive only ever had phenomenal experiences at Cat Tattoo and with Brittany Jo in piercings. I moved to the metroplex last year and a friend suggested Cat Tattoos piercer Brittany Jo. I have been incredibly impressed with her. Shes truly outstanding at what she does. This is a long review, but you need to know how great she is! My first piercings from her were nipples. I came to the shop initially for a consult and Brittany Jo was happy to take time out to sit with me and go through my list of questions as well as add in information of her own experiences to help my decision. She has an air of honesty and comfortableness and told me of all the pros and risks and wasnt phased when I asked personal questions about nipple piercings. Shes the piercer that will tell you if a location will be a good or poor or if a certain piercing will or wont look good in a certain spot. I really value her opinion. When I came in for the piercings, she took plenty of time to mark my body for the piercings and didnt make me feel bad for asking her to remark them. She truly wants her clients to have the best piercing experience and be completely satisfied with the end results. Ive had 9 body/oral piercings before coming to Brittany Jo and I had fainted with 5 of them--all except for the 4 in my earlobes. So I was prepared for fainting with my nipples, but Brittany Jo was so outstanding and I got through both nipples with no trouble at all. She has the best bedside manners and knows how to calm you and coach you through your breathing. I really needed that in a piercer! My second piercing with her was a surface anchor on my shoulder--a new place for Brittany Jo to pierce a surface anchor. Again, it was a phenomenal experience--it came out perfectly and I had no trouble making it through the piercing. Shes very good at what she does and really understands the art and science of piercing. I completely trust her. Brittany Jo went into detail about aftercare and Ive stuck to it for several months. My nipples have been healing incredibly well, and Ive had no trouble or pain with them. My surface anchor is looking amazing as well and has not given me any trouble either. Ive had a few previous piercings become infected or be rejected, and now I believe that was due to poor piercing and my being uninformed on aftercare. Brittany Jo will assure you have a successful piercing. I will continue to go to Brittany Jo for any future piercings and shes always the first I suggest to any friends. Shes really phenomenal at what she does and shell show you that she cares about your experience and your piercing.

I was banned for questioning the artists talent. I have had many friends; and talked to lots of strangers that have gone here and got some really nice basic work done. However, when I had the opportunity to be a possible customer I was escorted out and banned from the shop just for questioning the artist abilities and talent. I came in with a friend who was getting a tattoo, and while waiting, I thought I would ask a few "artists" about some coverup solutions (basic black and white and no scaring issues). Based on hearing good things about the establishment, I assumed that they would either offer some constructive input and convince me that they were the shop to take on such an easy challenge... or at the very least, point me in the right direction (new to Dallas at the time). Not the case. They asked me if I had the original art that they could go off of (FYI, three artists asked this question). Uhhh... Why? I was looking for a coverup! And I told them what I had in mind for a coverup. I EVEN told them I was willing to pay an extra commission fee for their artistic efforts and interpretation of my concept. Youre an artist, Right!? They still insisted that they needed a copy of the original art to "go off of". Why? This is when I questioned their artists abilities to be true artist. I asked them if their method of business was a turnstile of printing off carbon flash art and just tracing. BANNED! Asked to never to come back! Overall rating: Personal experience (without getting a tattoo) - Suck! Clean - The one thing they got going for them... Talent - Very amateur. Beginner artist at best. If there are Veteran artist here, they never did show their faces that day.... Best Tattoo option as a patron here - Flash Art seems to be your best option. Better options in the area are Bob Shaws or Tabboo

Here is my experience with Cat Tattoo. Take it as you will. I went in on a Friday afternoon with a tattoo design. It wasnt anything complicated, just a simple mediums sized tribal style tattoo. Nothing too difficult. I got helped right away. The artist is very nice providing suggestions on how to improve the design. Great. I ask when the soonest we could do it. He says 10pm that night. OK, Im on bored. But then he starts second guessing himself. Since they close at midnight he doesnt know if he can be finished before midnight. This is when I get suspicious. I had gotten tattoos before and this tattoo shouldnt take 2 hours to do. Plus, most tattoo artist will tell you that they are only making money when they are tattooing. So usually theyll stay a little late if it means they can get in another tattoo. The earliest they can get me in is 5pm the next day but Im busy at the time. The next time they have available isnt until Tuesday! Then I ask the big question... how much? I should have asked this question first. $300 - $375! That floored me. I decided I really needed to rethink my tattoo. I really liked it but didnt know if it was worth that much! Luckily I decided to shop around after that. I ended up going to Tru Tattoo on Midway. The place is extremely clean and the staff is really nice and professional. They are also extremely good at what they do. Not to mention they did the tattoo for only $100! So basically, if you dont mind spending the money I think Cat would be worth giving a try but there are definitely cheaper alternatives.

I would like to say one thing first. Why do people think they walk in a tattoo shop and can expect fast food service? This is a tattoo (or piercing) you do not do walk in service....? This is not a fast service thing people. Anyway, I wanted a tribal tattoo, I did research on artists and found Terry Mayo. I sent him an E-mail to introduce myself and asked for an appointment. Now, weekends are busy for tattoo shops and weekdays are better. He called me the next day. I met on a weekday and got right in. I showed him what I was thinking and he showed me more. He talked with me and showed me even better tribal ideas and patterns. I was impressed. He opened my mind up to more proper ways tribal tattooing is done and not some trendy thing that will be made fun of later in life. I arranged for another day during the week. He got me right in to do the tattoo. He drew up the design and was very open to me saying whatever I felt (change this, love that, hate this, that sucks). But, what was better then I expected was, we made no changes. It was great with what he created on the first drawing. It came out way more tribal and better then I ever expected. All I can say is do your home work and talk to the artist. Don’t do fast food tattoos or piercing. There was a guy that came in to talk to Terry about removing work while I was there. I had no issues with service and was treated great and came out with better then I hoped, because I did my part to know what I was getting into and what to expect and I am still learning for the next time.
