I just purchased a Honda Civic from the Drivetime located on Kingston Pike in Knoxville. Overall, the experience was straight-forward and awesome. Dan Herzog was my contact at this store and made the purchase as easy as possible. Here are some tips though, if you wish to purchase a vehicle from Drivetime. I did my research and came prepared, and this made the purchase that much easier. (1) If you are looking at Drivetime, you more than likely have a hiccup on your credit, like I did. With this being said, you will be paying a sub-prime interest rate. (2) The down-payment you are approved for is the bare minimum. I would recommend having additional funds to put toward that down-payment. Dont walk into the dealer with the bare-minimum and expect to walk out with a luxury car. (3) Do your homework before hand. Pick more than one type of vehicle. Look at the price ranges and see what is offered in each. What do you want versus what you really need? I know what I really wanted, but I also walked in with an open mind on what I really needed. Each persons situation is different. In my situation, I just needed reliable transportation, but it would of been nice to have something more. The dealer will make recommendations based off of what you qualify for and the down-payment you are willing to pay. With this being said, they WILL find you a car that is perfect and meets your expectations and your needs. (4) Bring the required documents when you come! It will make the process that much faster. If you work in the service industry, insure you are accounting for all of your tips!! (5) They will put you in an car that fits your needs. Make your payments on time and get positive reporting and it will only improve your car-buying experience on the next go-round. Even if you buy from Drivetime again, they do offer incentives for paying on time and they will help you upgrade to another vehicle in the future... upgrade in the the future if you have a good payment history. Overall, I kept an open-mind and worked with Dan and told him my needs. He went beyond my expectations to make sure I was happy. This purchase, overall, has been an excellent experience. For those who dread car dealers, dont worry! It was comfortable and straight-forward.

I bought a 2008 Volkswagen Passat and the car was great. I totaled it, so I went back to them for another car!! I was told no money down but since I got a newer year the Salesman informed me that I had to put down a thousand dollars so I did. The salesman went to another dealership to pick up the car. The dealership called me and said I could pick up the car the next day. When I got to Drive Time on Kingston Pike I test drove the car. The car was sounding like a diesel and the engine fan was very loud. The Saleman told me thats how Volkswagen fans sound. After having this car for two days I contacted the dealership complaining about the fan and the car sputtering. I was told to call Averex the warranty people. Averex informed that they cant do anything until the check engine light come on. On the 28 day of having this car the check engine light came on and I called Averex. They told me to take the car to Meineke on Kingston Pike. Meineke found 15 codes and told me the car was a piece of junk and they wasnt going to fix. I then went straight back to Drive Time and told them I didnt want this car. They spoke to someone in their corporate office and informed me to take it to Harper Volkswagen. When I went to Harper they told me I needed to replace the rear main seal and the oil vacuum pump. It cost Drive Time $2100.00 and me $300 for the repair. A week later the Timing chain cover is leaking oil Harper said it would cost $500.00 and Drive Time said the dropped said they wouldnt pay for it. Now the car has 14 codes and Drive Time sold me a Lemon and wants me to pay $20,000.00 for a car thats messed up! They told me the car was sound and had been inspected. They also told me that the car was hit in the rear and had been fixed. The car is getting wet in the trunk and I found out that this car had water damage... I think drive Time should make this right because I am handicapped and on a fixed income.. This car needs to be in a junk yard. I advise people to look elsewhere for a car because the price of the junk I could have went to the VW dealer and got a newer years cheaper!!!!

Be WARNED!!,Like a similar review everything was fine at first. About half a month into having the car it started having very heavy engine problems. Qithin two weeks of having the car the oil was bone DRY , even though they swore they had just changed it. Then when we called to use our "warranty" they refered us to 3 locations (all with horrible reviews) 20 miles from our home. Originally we were only shown the price of the car and We werent informed of the 15k (in just interest) until AFTER we signed and put down the down payment. We really feel like we were taken advantage of because we had no credit. They promised they have fantastic vehicles but the 2011 suv we recieved with 90,000 miles that totaled $30,000 sounds like a diesel engine. One of the places they refereed us to was pepboys and a teenager answered the phone. We work full time jobs and all they could offer was $25 while our car was in the shop and nothing to help us get back and forth to work. They have you leave a review the day you get the car to ensire they have great reviews, weve obviously changed ours and i encoruage others to do the same. They do not care about you as a person they get their money regardless. I will spread the word!! We HAVE contacted your customer service several times, it was a joke.

We were desperate and didnt know what to do We had no credit. Made a huge mistake. It has only been a less than a month and the 2011 chev. With 90k miles we chose is having some engine issues. It sounds and runs like a diesel engine. After a WEEK of having the car i checked the oil and there was not a drop in the car, even though they swore they had just changed it. Luckily bridgecrest and drivetime are honoring their 30day warranty and having a shop look it over. Unfortunately the 3 places they told us we could use was over 20 miles away from our home and one was Pepboys who has horrible reviews. We decided to terminate the contract with them and chalk our losses. We refuse to pay 30,000 (15k in just interest) for a car that sounds this bad. They target people with no credit so you have to pay thousands in just interest. A 15k car quickly turns into 30k with them. We originally were only shown the price of 15k and were not even informed it was 30k until AFTER we signed papers and put down our down payment. Dont let this happen to you. The "good" reviews that they have are due to the fact they make you do a review in front of them on the spot the day you get the vehicle.
