For novice computer users: PROS - They have a work station that allows you to fix a problem with the help of employees (better than trying to google fix it if you dont know what to search for) - Convenient for parts directly (Not having to wait for online shipping) - Q and A with a person and not a online chat or google - Knowledgeable employees CONS - Prices (the same or most times more expensive than what you can find online) For non-novice: PROS - Convenient for parts CONS - Although its convenient, there are a lack of brands (Nothing like Microcenter) - Lack of inventory. This works adjacent to the lack of brands. There is a very limited choice for what you probably need. - The word "knowledgeable" is used very loosely for us. We dont ask the same questions as novice users (i.e. why do I need a video card?). If you asked a random employee whether a certain motherboard paired with a AMD CPU is capable of utilizing the full speed of a 3200MHz RAM without having to go through the bios and overclocking or changing the clock speed... you may have better luck with google - Prices So overall, its a good place to go if youre new to computer hardware. For you people, this place would be 4 or 5 stars, based on your own personal experience. However, this is my review, and for me the only benefit is the convenience. If a major part is not working (i.e. power, motherboard, cpu, etc.) that the computer depends on to make it turn on, its good to know I dont have to wait for shipping or drive to Georgia for Microcenter. With that said, the lack of choices really makes it unappealing. If you need a part that you dont need immediately, just order it online. Itll be cheaper and they probably wont have what you need. The store is small, so understandably they do with what they can. Having pages of GPU and motherboard on Amazon or Newegg, it would be impossible for them to shelve all of it. Their return/refund policy is very simple and no hassle. Employees are friendly and well mannered. Being a hardware store, they really should keep up to date with all of the new hardware coming out (i.e. right now AMD is blowing up the PC scene, unveiling their new GPU and CPU, Intel with their new high core count CPU chips, and maybe reading up on the mining so that they can educate consumers why the GPU and RAM prices are so high).

I have shopped there for 7 years and have always had good experiences at Computer Direct Outlet. I have been in there surrounded by all sorts of folks, some in a big hurry and some that come with every question in the books, and I have seen them give the same focus and attention to everyone. I think its interesting that I have not seen them advertise in several years yet they always have a crowd waiting to get in when they open their doors. Most of what they sell is new retail box computer parts, but they have a used parts corner with a lot of oddball stuff, but some treasures, too. And they carry a few OEM and refurbished parts which they will tell you about if you are shopping on a budget. They usually have the best prices in town, and always do on their cables and RAM. I think thats part of the reason they stay so busy. Another big part is the free work area. Its do-it-yourself but with a full-time technician giving free advice whether you buy anything from them or not! In the work area, they provide most of the accessories (keyboards, mice, monitors, high-speed Internet) and tools (screwdrivers mostly), just about everything you need to fix up your desktop or laptop computer. The technician there is often a tech-in-training that has worked at the store for a year or two. They are usually pretty knowledgable, and when they dont know the answer they are happy to go and find it for you, either online or by going to their more senior techs in the back. And did I say its free? I have been in there a handful of times and never been charged a dime. Now I have been frustrated by a line there now and again. If I need to buy something quick, I usually avoid the opening crowd, the lunch hour and around 5pm when most folks get off work. Their new Express Line at the far end was a good idea, but sometimes folks start asking questions and slow it up. And if you want to get in the free work area, get there early because its very popular.

Sure, they had a stroke of genius by calling this computer store an "outlet." Its not an outlet though, but it is a convenient place to get computer parts. Problems? There are tons of them though. The worst is the service. It takes forever to get through the line. The semi-geek order takers sit there spinning quasi lies about their experiences and knowledge. Ignorant customers suck it all up, and the B.S. probably earns them a lot of repeat business. Still, I think that providing good service to more people would be more advantageous to them. Many times I have gone in, only to be forced to leave because I just dont have the time to stand in the endless line. Another thing: they refuse to help improve service time by getting orders ready early. Theyve told me a time or two that they would and just get into the express line when I get to the store. Well, the express line takes just as long or longer than the regular line and when you get up to the clerk, you find out that they didnt get your order out anyway. The in-store work area is good... especially for the hordes of people who dont have a clue about how to fix their own computer. Unfortunately, I have sat there watching the computer direct people sell ignorant folks parts they dont really need. So, the dishonest/fraud part of that seems to cancel out the benefits. Although I will consider returning (especially if I cant wait for internet shipping or for local delivery from another local store with better prices and service), theres a local company with better prices who will deliver my parts to me for free. This saves me from having to be out of the office so long just to buy memory or a CDROM drive, and I stay a lot happier because I have not wasted so much of my time.

I was Very disapointed! I went there to purchase some small screws that fell out of my laptop over time I drive truck and from moving around they came loose and fell out so I figured I would go there well I walked in and looked around and did not see what I needed and one of the guys at the tables where they wait on peopl said could I help you I showed him what I needed he said yes we have some in the back but they are 5 dollars a piece! I said 5 dollars? he said yes sir I said that is crazy for a 3 cent screw? your gonna charge me 5 dollars a piece and I told him first I needed 6 of them he was going to charge me 30 dollars! No I am sorry thats what they cost just thats it 5 dollars a piece! I politely said I will buy a new laptop before I EVER give someone 30 dollars for maybe maybe 50 cents worth of screws! That is just ridiculous! I dont see how these people think they are getting good deals unless this guy was trying to take me for a ride!! but I remember very clearly who it was! how much would it have been if they would have put the screws in? for goodness sake probably 100 dollars!!!!!!! Not worth it I promise you I will tell every one when asked anything about this place plainly they try to rip you off!!!!!! That is for sure what was tried on me key word tried!!!!!!
