I called around town to replace a graphics card on a 27" Imac and he gave me a better price than everyone else first over the phone, then going to his house (that reeked of cigarettes) and confirmed it again over the phone when he got the price of the card. Finally, the card arrives 10 days later and he asks to proceed. At this point, I confirm the price and he says that the contract Ive signed is based on an hourly rate and that it would take 2 hours to replace the card. Why couldnt he tell me that from the beginning is still a mystery to me. I wouldve gone somewhere else. At this point I had no other choice then to move forward with the repair considering I gave him a deposit that I would never get back should I choose to go somewhere else and that he had my computer. On pick-up I tell him about the verbal agreement we had, of which he obviously had no recollection.... like Im just making stuff up ! I pay (no choice there) and once home I realize that he had left some serious whipping marks and white specs of dust (maybe cigarette ash) on the back side of the glass screen. I text him and his reply was not apologetic at all and said he could clean while I wait. It takes me a good 45mn to get to his house, so no, Im not going back there. He also does site visits but didnt offer to come to my house, just to explain how I could it myself if I wanted to. Things like that should be verified before delivery. Recap: - bait and switch on the price despite that he will deny it - long turnaround time - not clean service - house is a mess outside and inside and stinks, certainly not suitable for full price service - ended up paying a bit more than what Screwbox had quoted me upfront with a 2 day turnaround time, a clean and convenient storefront and no bad surprises. I run a small business too and when I give a price to someone, I stick to it unless we agreed that it might NEED to be revised, not because I fell like it that day. Im not doubting of Berts technical capabilities but the whole experience was not to my liking at all and I will NOT recommend him to anyone that puts a price on someone word. ---------------------------- 8/25/16 edit You chose to respond in a non apologetic way and make it sound like everything is ok on your end, so I feel compelled to respond, although this is not a pace for it. You can always call me. Another case of he said, she said in response to my "unfair" review. Unfair ? what are we, 5 years old ? You run a business, so act like it. Unprofessional service calls for fact-driven reviews, not unfair ones. If anything was unfair, its your way of handling my call. You offer to clean the screen while I wait, after driving another 45mn to your place, again ??!!! I dont think so. Why didnt you pay attention to the fact that it wasnt clean when you gave it back to me ? It was more than obvious that it wasnt just a smudge once I set it on my desk. You were ok taking my money, so if nothing else, you couldve offered to come to my house and clean it. I run a business too and if I mess up, Ill eat the cost, not send text messages to my clients and refuse to take responsibility for it. Despite the fact that I signed a contract, you should not have charged me more than what we agreed on; no one forced you to do so, you run the show. I am sure youre a capable tech and am glad that you help a bunch people that leave nice reviews, but not me, not this time. Im not hard to please: I come to you with a problem, you say you can fix it, I trust you, we agree on a price, you fix it, I pay, were both satisfied. Simple, no ? The only true part in that statement is the fixing part, the rest goes out the window. Stand your grounds if you want, but it wont change the fact that what I have written here and previously is what happened, even if your judgement is"cloudy"... Good luck to you.

After taking our iMac in to Apple store in mall, we found out our hard drive was bad. I wasnt sure if we were going to be able to back it up before installing a new one. This is our second hard drive in 6 years. I contacted Bert to see if he could help us. The night before taking it to him, I was able to back the drive...took all night. Bert was able to put a new hard drive, re install original data, and make improvements to our iMac (More Ram...runs faster now). When I picked it up, it looked and had all the data, desktop stuff, etc.. that was there before the problems started. She runs like a new machine! He warranties his work and communication is very good....offers different priority service..ie, overnight, 2 day, no rush, etc. He works from his living room, sharp dude, really is into the computers. Would not hesitate to use him again.

Al (Bert) really helped us out. He did some work to an old iMac that I own and made it run faster, with more memory than when I bought it. I was prepared to buy a new computer, but he suggest repairing my old one (I probably saved $600-700 if I were to purchase a new computer). I saved a lot of money, and feel that he was looking out for my interests, not simply trying to make money off of selling me additional services/equipment. His small business is run out of his home, so the setting is a bit organic, however, he has a legitimate operation, and probably a lot less overhead (and lower prices) than some other stores. Al is definitely good at what he does, and my experience working with him was positive. I will definitely give him my business in the future.

I own a small business and was desperate when I wasnt able to get past the turn on button on my Windows XP.. I had a blue screen with error messages. Everything I needed to run my business was stuck in this computer and I needed help. I called Steve at Tampa Bay Apple Repair and within the day, a computer repairman was at my door. He went right to work & was able to fix my XP. He also ran a scan that deleted off thousands of spyware/viruses, etc. I was very satisfied with their knowledge, prices and understanding of my needs. I will recommend this company to anyone I know and will call them again at the 1st sign of trouble. Thank you Steve & Al Stephanie Gods Remedy

I needed quick data recovery while not wanting to pay high Apple Store prices. We learned about Berts business and relatively quick turn around compared to the mall store. Bert promised as delivered and we actually paid less than I thought and less than compared to the mall. Bert fixes the computers in his home near the base and gives you constant updates. He is very adamant about his business hours as he runs everything from home. If you cant always keep in contact like me, due to heavy travel, just make sure you let him know before hand. Bert also gave me a great discount and great tips about hard drive back-up.

I googled computer repair and this guy was right around the corner. Forget his name, but hes a very nice, kind of an eccentric guy, runs his little computer repair business from his house. You need an appointment but its well worth it because hes way cheaper than the Apple store. The genius bar wouldnt even touch my Macbook because it was "vintage" and said theyd have to send it away for $600. This guy had parts ready and fixed it the next day. So if youre looking for someone who is knowledgeable in Mac and apple products, or if you dropped your Macbook down a flight of stairs like I did, this man can help you.
