Ive been here a number of times over the last 5 years. I must say that there is always something uncomfortable or wrong that happens. Today was not exception to this trail of foreboding. I would go somewhere else but the redeeming factors of this Barnes and Noble is that they are highly accessible and they have cafe area that I can work. In the past consistently even through winter the space is cold enough that people double wrap scarves around their necks or refuse to take their jackets off. I bring a scarf and sweatshirt every time. The stove vent fans blow directly onto 30% of the guests in the cafe. The internet has always been abysmally slow. Much slower than other B&N. The same signs at the end of the book isles have been there for over 6 months. Such as "Celebrate Poetry Month". This would be of no affect if not for the other general lack of upkeep on the space. Books come in slower here for some reason and yelling across the isle is preferred to the intercom. Last time I was here I listed to the barista three times change peoples order because he thought that it was "better" than what they asked for. This in addition to mine, which after asking for a low fat drink he put whipped cream and sprinkles on top for no reason other than "its more fun". Unusually I was able to find a seat within five minutes today. A glad relief after the last couple times I eventually left a hungry non-patron after waiting for a table for too long. But today 75% of the board advertised above the drink station was incorrectly priced by more than 50 cents. Which, according to the barista had not been noticed since February. Asking my server to consent to the advertised pricing upset their colleague behind the counter. The colleague than proceeded to make a watered down Strawberries and Cream. For which has been beloved in past alternate locations. Sure maybe it was a mistake. And they cant control their patron numbers. But they could put out larger tables and remove the news and tea stand that are in the seating area. They could modernize their space and actually put more plugs for the people who buy pricey drinks. They could put up a sign stating the correct prices and train their employees to not assume. They have a good educational book section. Im glad for their being here. Im just disappointed at this point.

The only reason I can even say I didnt hate it is because more than one person works there. I work nearby upstairs in the offices and have to walk across the mall to get lunch nearly every day, well as any sane person might I dont go to their Starbucks unless Im going to buy something, which I always do when I make the walk, but I also dont have to eat their food as well as drink something so I chose to call someone else from time to time, although I have more often than not eaten their food. The Manager ( I think) is a bossy pig of a human being. He seems to feel the need to flex his meager power and tell me I cannot call a sub place to deliver to the cafe - the only space for sitting at a table - even though I had bought a 5 dollar cup of coffee minutes ago. The fact that the man doesnt realize is if I cannot eat there he loses his 25$/wk minimum revenue and Ill just stick to water in a place I can eat. Thanks for naught Loser.

Grubby carpets - seriously - it felt like I was having to peel my feet off the floor. Situated in a derelict mall where it feels like youre going to get mugged. In fact, a policeman was shot and killed there a few months ago. Very high prices on books that can be bought online far cheaper. Expensive mediocre cafe. Parking is terrible. The car park has a hell of a slope to it, making manoeuvring into the tiny spaces very hard. Cant be long before this dump closes like the one across town did.

There really just arent that many bookstores left like this Barnes & Noble. You smell coffee, the crisp pages of books, and freshly baked cookies when you walk in the door. Its a huge bookstore, with a kids area decorated just as I remember it from when I was a kid. PLUS: They still have Harry Potter parties/events that are free for everyone!

I understand everybody has access to use of the cafe, but I dont understand why some high school "classes" are being held here during the day. These classes hog a portion of the tables, leaving a few for others. However, these are LOUD high school kids. People go to the cafe to read in a QUITE space.

They hasd a lot of good options and the workers were very helpful. 4 stars because I ordered the books I was going to buy here from Amazon for cheaper. Also the mall this B&N is in is not air conditioned so it was very hot in the store.

Terrible customer service. Rented a book and unfortunately had to keep it past my due date. I was charged for an extension and for the book. They would not give me a refund. Manager and customer service thought that it was a joke.

Relaxed environment to read. Many books. Separate sections dedicated to each fandom such as Star Wars, Harry Potter, Manga, and various Comics from Marvel and DC. Could use more books on engineering, technology and programming.

At the moment my favorite bookstore in Columbia, not only comfortable and with all variety Barnes & Nobles usually have, but also with a great coffee shop in where you can always find delicious deserts.
