I have a great relationship with a local bike shop in the Lehigh Valley and use them consistently. Im looking to purchase a Gary Fisher, Rumblefish I (~2,900) and Im in between on the 19" and 21" frames, but my LBS does doesnt have these sizes on hand for me to try out. As a solution I called Adventure Cycling and Fitness because they have these sizes on hand, explained that Im going to order through my LBS, but I would like to come in and sit on them and see which is a better fit. They agree over the phone because its the good and right thing to do and benefits the general cycling community. So fast forward to when I arrive at the shop, I tell the salesperson (not the guy on the phone) upfront what my story is that I already have a local shop, but i want to see the right sizing. His immediate response is that he doesnt want wear and tear on the bikes and that hed prefer if i didnt touch them. I explained that I called ahead and he conceded that I could sit on them, but would not offer any suggestions on fit. I would have bought pedals from him and some other accessories had he been helpful, but he was so busy looking for the big ticket sale that he alienated a potential customer and definitely passed up on a smaller sale. They have a big inventory, but not the helpful attitude that Im accustomed to in the biking community.

Yet another terrible service experience. My thought is that one of the biggest reasons for the decline in the number of local bike shops is because the competition with online retailers is a battle that they are for the most part losing. They are losing this battle due to the well known fact that its just cheaper to buy online as with most things. However, there are still those that will pay the little extra in order to receive the customer service a LBS is supposed to provide. So if these LBSs arent providing that service than why the heck would anybody pay more for the same product. The bottom line is that if poor customer service experiences such as the one I experienced courtesy of Adventure Cycling and Fitness continue, there will be no more LBSs. We will all be forced to buy sight unseen and gone will be that personal touch that once could be counted on and now seems to be a rarity.

During the near 25 years of serving the public with the latest and greatest in cycling technologies, I have purchased for myself and family approximately a dozen bikes from Adventure Cycling. Matter a fact I just purchased one last week and if in need for another next week, I would go to Adventure Cycling. Why this dedication to Adventure Cycling? They are knowledgeable of their products from both a product application and sizing perspective. In addition they have numerous cycling technical capable mechanics that can both keep your bike operating smoothly and capable of thinking "out of the box" to install accessories that you may desire. Most importantly, the owner Ed Brandt wants your input to continual improve his shops service to best support your bike experience, which he has most definitely done over the last 3 to 4 years...............MrGaget

I called to get my wifes bike in for a tune up as an anniversary present. They were able to fit me in despite it being a very busy time of year (April). The bike was ready for pick up a day before it was scheduled to be done so we could go on a ride on our anniversary. The owner is very helpful and her staff are hard working and very knowledgeable about bikes. I would highly recommend taking your bike to Adventure Cycling because of the quality work, attention to detail, and honest interactions. They took time to interact with me and didnt rush me or pressure me to buy anything. They did provide suggestions but I didnt feel like they were trying to sell me things. These people definitely know bikes and care about their customers. If you are in the York, PA area, I would recommend taking your bike needs to Adventure Cycling!

My husband and I recently began competing in triathlons, and while we visited both Adventure Cycling in addition to another local bike shop at the beginning, it became clear quickly that the customer service at Adventure Cycling was far superior. We have been back several times for additional cycling gear and have never been disappointed. The team at Adventure Cycling has a passion for cycling that is contagious. They are knowledgeable and always take the time to understand our needs/wants on each visit to make sure we purchase the appropriate product. A special thanks goes to Kathy, Ed, Smiling Joe, Jim, and Tim for sharing their expertise with us. One last thanks to Adventure Cycling for supporting the YWCA Womens Y-Tri! We cant imagine going to another cycling store (or online).

We recently moved to York and have really gotten into riding. We needed to replace a tire and chain. The staff was very helpful in every aspect of the job. They took the time to explain the ins and outs of each product they have to offer. Very accommodating too. They also got the job done in less than a week. Friendly people. We will be taking all of our business to Adventure from now on!

Uneven repair quality, expensive, good customer service. I had minor repair - maintenance work done, which was too expensive in my opinion. When I got the bike back the new cables and bar tape looked good but the shifting was not correct. I fixed it to the best of my ability since I didnt want to wait another week for a second appointment and I was away traveling.

Adventure Cycle and Fitness has been my regular bike shop for years. Ive used others, but I always come back to Adventure when I need good advice, good mechanics, and a large, high quality inventory. Whether Im buying a mountain bike for my son or shopping for new pedals for my road bike, the staff is always pleasant, well informed, and helpful.

This is a great bike shop run by a family that is very knowledgeable about bikes. They have certified workers who fit you to the best bike size. They answer any question and do very thorough service on bikes. This is 100x better than buying bikes from a box store.

They arent going to sell you a cheap bike, but it will last for years while being ridden routinely. They service any bike, unlike Gung Ho bikes.
